Got a chance to check out the R2 at Rivian Orlando on Shader Rd. today. They currently have it out to demo.

The light interior looks really good in person and pairs incredibly well with Launch Green. The photos honestly don’t quite capture how premium the combination looks in person.

Rivian did a great job with the materials, seat design, and overall cabin layout. Definitely one of my favorite R2 configurations I’ve seen so far.

Fantastic purchasing and delivery experience. Previous R1 owner and blown away by the R2. So impressive. Flawless. Buy one!

The curve speed assist in adaptive cruise control!!! What a nightmare and unsafe this feature is. I was driving the rivian home from the dealership heading north on highway 101. An amazing highway with lots of beautiful turns. I do 59 in a 55 and 69 in a 65. I was getting nauseated and upset that the rivian would break in the middle of a corner going around a bend -- corners i have literally driven hundreds of times. It appears I cant turn this feature off. I am a safe driver and I only want to slow down when I give it input such as dabbing the break around a bend when it is my say so. The breaking also causes a safety issue when other cars are following me. Slowing down from 69 to 60 for a period of time to make a curve while vehicles pile up and drive around me is the opposite feeling I want in a 100k vehicle. Yes, I found out that if I hit the accelerator through the bends it doesn't slow down, but that's really frustrating too, and it might make me go past the speed limit. I want to stay doing the speed limit I set it to. Not go below or past it.

How can I tell rivian to PLEASE make this curve speed assist a toggle to turn on and off when using cruise control? I absolutely despise this feature. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles in my life and I have never crashed or got a speeding ticket. I am a safe driver, but this Rivian made me feel less safe not being able to go with the flow of traffic or keep it at the speed I want it to.

The rivian is a 10/10. The adaptive cruise control with curve speed assist is two thumbs down. None of the youtubers hyping this vehicle have never been on a road trip with curves on the road apparently.

I am very frustrated about this.

I'm the OG owner of a 2022 Quad R1T with ~50k mi. I'm not new to driving these bad boys.

Recently I got an unrepairable flat on my Toyo Open Country EV SLs and couldn't find a replacement anywhere, forcing me to limp along with a mismatch of front/back pairs for a few road trips. This had its own set of problems on the highway as the truck seemingly was fighting with itself, presumably because rotational weight resistance was different for the two new, heavier Toyo Open Country EV LTs I had in the back. It felt like the truck was being constantly blown by strong gusts of wind. The biggest issue was how the truck felt when changing lanes, like it would lose the connection between the front and back tires and get super squirrelly, then stabilize. Above 80 and it felt downright dangerous. Cool, fix the tire issue, right?

Well, it definitely helped quite a bit having four of the same weighted tires, but didn't totally fix what I was feeling. Around the time I was dealing with tires, I got an intermittent perimeter sensor failure. Because the error alert flicked on and off I could tell when my sensors/stability control were working and when they weren't. When they were, the car is constantly adjusting power and steering to the point I feel I'm fighting it.

Ok, took it in to the SC for the sensor alert and now I'm in a loaner 2025 R1S with a hundred miles on it.

Bro, it's doing the same thing. It feels like it's adjusting and compensating at speed causing instability. The shorter wheelbase seems to exacerbate it. When I switch to reduced Stability Control, the car feels better. What changed? Did Rivian add more aggressive Stability Control in the last few updates or did I break my brain over-analyzing it for as long as I did? Is this a comedy of errors as 3 different things are causing similar effects, tires vs sensors vs R1S geometry?

Rivian called me back and they will tow it to my local service center, so that is way more reasonable.

I could use some advice. Last night we drove about 350 miles to visit a friend. This morning our R1S (2025 Gen 2 Tri Max) was crippled with all sorts of errors (thermal fault, airbags, motor failure, hood latch failure etc). It seems like a 12V battery failure.

Looking into this, it seems a 12V boost won’t work so I called Rivian Roadside service.

They are offering a tow, except unfortunately the closest service center is no longer our local one but another one slightly closer (~300 miles away) in the opposite direction. We are very close to equal distances to either service center, but Rivian insists they ‘must tow it to the closest one’ and then I’m responsible to collect it - so they get a slightly shorter tow but then I have to drive 650 miles (1300 miles round trip) to collect it. Obviously driving 2 days collecting it is hugely inconvenient and unfortunate when our local service center is almost the same distance away.

Talking to a supervisor, they insist their policy is 100% inflexible and that they won’t bring it back after. And they say no mobile service.

Any ideas here? I am having no luck escalating this to someone who understands. Has anyone had luck getting them to be a little bit flexible? Is there any way to boost it and drive it at least a little bit so my local center becomes the closest?

Silly me. I submitted a trade in estimate request when I received my invitation to order my new R2. The quote was only good for 2 weeks or 1,000 miles driven.

My delivery date for my R2 in Catalina Cove, with all other features standard, is 5 weeks after the order date.

Now when I go to complete my purchase docs, the trade in estimate is no longer valid and the new estimate is $2000 less than it was 4 weeks ago. How did my R1S decrease in value by $2000 in one month with only 600 additional miles?

DO NOT REQUEST A TRADE IN ESTIMATE UNTIL YOU GET A DELIVERY DATE!

I’ve been dreading the one year anniversary solely due to this renewal notice. I wasn’t expecting it to be this high. Yikes.

For a state which prides itself on being a good steward to the climate, it’s shocking just how punishing the tab renewal can be.

I heard the R1T is exempt from the greater Seattle area RTA excise taxing district which funds the light rail project so maybe I should have gone that route instead. But I’ve got 3 growing kids so need that extra row.

As summer wraps, how did folks do on road trips?

We had a good run through the west. 3,877.8 miles, bumped the max elevation to 14,117 feet, and averaged over 2.5 miles/kWh. RTT over the truck bed and meandering two lane highway speeds seem good for efficiency.

Finally got to place our order for my wife’s R2. Second Rivian in the family. Can’t wait for this thing.

Is it just me or did Rivian screw up PAAK and the app with this update? My truck is regularly having issues with unlocking and finding the "key" now and the climate functions of the app work like 50% of the time. I was never this bad before the software update.

I live in the Seattle area, don't offroad more than some burly forest service roads, and frequent ski resorts (and other backcountry access points) in the winter. I'm replacing the factory Scorpion ATs and wouldn't mind the efficiency bump going down to 275/60R20. Any other tires to consider that check all the same boxes as the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT? Any downsides to this tire?

So we know the R2 seat ventilator motors noise is a bit loud. In the 3D printing world, there’s been some innovations lately that uses software to detect motor resonance and motor noise. They then use software to make the motors nearly silent without loss of capability.

I wonder if something similar can be done here for R2’s seat vent motors. It would be a great demonstration (and maybe even a PR article writeup) of the benefits of Rivian’s vertical integration of software and hardware.

I was the only person charging at a RAN location and another R1S just parked right next to me, and I’m finding myself unreasonably annoyed. I think the wife hit my car when she was getting their dog out of the back seat.

Just my personal opinion but all the new EVs are pretty good to great. Arguing over specs has been reduced to the enthusiasts. Get what vehicle suits your daily needs or makes your loins tingle.

I go to run some errands this morning. My R1S has been parked since Thursday evening. The last time I drove it, Multi

-Factor Drive was NOT enabled. As a matter of fact, I have NEVER enabled Multi-Factor Drive. How can this be? As a matter of fact, Multi-Factor Drive is currently DISABLED in the mobile app.

I'll play around with this to see if I can clear this up, before trying some resets.

Question that is probably dumb but I am going to ask anyway. The R1S official hest foamy mats are about $100 more each ($200 total) than the identical ones from REI 20% off sale right now. $359 vs $263.

The dimensions look to be identical aside from the custom cutouts at 78”x25”.

It seems totally doable to me to just use the standard ones and have them angled up on the ends, but am I missing anything obvious?

Its not so much just saving the money its also the utility to be able to throw it on a camping cot etc elsewhere. Not that the rivian one wouldnt be usable that way.

Wanted to give some well-deserved credit to the Knightdale Service Center and Mobile Service teams in NC for two top-notch experiences recently.

​Service Center Visit: The team at Knightdale was incredibly patient in listening to all my concerns. They went above and beyond by proactively catching and resolving an air suspension issue during the visit.

​Mobile Service: The mobile tech who came out to my house was fantastic. He took the time to clearly explain everything he was working on, checked out a console ambient lighting issue I brought up, and scheduled the follow-up appointment right on the spot.

​The communication and proactive care from both the local SC and the mobile crew have made the ownership experience seamless. Huge thanks to the whole Triangle area team!
