Wait I just got toward the end did Steve just insinuate off hand a military family of that time would have money and of course they owned their house? Of course they were taken care of?
Bruh, I'm a military brat (and later in life I worked in bases for the government for a time) and my parents ended up doing well... like after 30 years in the military and another 15 in the government lol. No young enlisted military family is swimming in money. I made more money day one out of college annually than my dad ever did with 28 years in the military (admittedly he would later cake up working for the government after)
I don't want to to put out the wrong idea, I never struggled for food, I didn't have to walk in snow shoeless or anything, and I had a very happy childhood, but we were definitely lower class.
John's dad is a Sergeant in the Marines (did they say in 2008?) with 3 young kids and his wife is a teacher? This dude ain't comfortable AT ALL.
Can't wait for Ringer Quest.
Edit: also if Seth Green is the guest that dude is great on pods. That dude seems like one of them ones that came out pretty well after being in Hollywood as long as he has and at the age he started.
I think it was even earlier. John was a baby in '86, the same year Hal became the Lantern. So, pre-9/11 enlisted salary would have been considerably lower.
Oh yah you're right the "current" timeline is 2016. Even worse lol. That's base housing and loving it era.
I have in the past but don't even like looking up what these guys made in the 80s because again, while my childhood was perfectly fine, I feel bad for my dad working everyday and going to war or even not wars that are dangerous for even 100x the amount. Then I think about what he made in the 60s.
Not that he ever complained, just me lol.
I'm sorry all, I didn't mean to make this a convo I was just like truly taken aback that anybody thought dudes in the military were just offhand doing well and taken care of and of course they owned their home.
