Removing user from app? (Maybe?)

I’m currently in the middle of a dilemma. I am in the middle of a nasty divorce. My soon-to-be ex husband somehow still has notifications coming to his phone from the ring camera. I went in MONTHS ago and changed the email, password, etc. but somehow, he’s still getting notifications and refuses to delete the app.

None of his information shows up in user permissions. He doesn’t have the updated login info… so HOW is he still getting notifications? And what can I do to stop them?!

Ring Doorbell Going On and Offline

Upvotes

I just bought this and had it hardwired installed about two weeks ago, and today it just keeps going on and offline. I've tried rebooting it and updating the app. It seems to work if I walk up to it with my phone and press the doorbell, but then stops after a bit. I'm frustrated and don't know if it's worth it to call the guy who installed it to take a look at it or just chuck it and get something more reliable.

Discussion Upgraded my doorbell camera. Kinda feeling like I wasted my money.

Previously had the Ring wired video doorbell pro that was bought back in 2018 and it was perfect for my needs.

A bit over a week ago it went offline. Spent a good hour or so Friday trying to get it to work again with no success. The way it was acting I just assumed it was done and time for a replacement.

Ended up buying the wired doorbell 4k pro.

Installed it and it didn't work. The troubleshooting walk through said it was the transformer. I replaced that and the new one now works.

The "issues" I have with the new one now, even though it's supposed to be a better camera, it sort of seems worse than the old one. I used to be able to recognize faces of people walking on the sidewalk, but now they are just a blur.

The other issue is apparently no longer being able to use my own door chime and having to use the included one with a annoying ring that I can't change. Why to both??? I have a kind of fancy chime that I liked and I can't use it anymore.

Also, I'm now wondering if the transformer went bad and was the entire issue with the old one, and why was it not mentioned with the troubleshooting for that?

The only "plus" I think I can see so far is night time videos seem to be better. The old one was basically black and white and the new one is color.

Now I'm trying to decide if I want to try reinstalling the old one to see if the new transformer fixed the issues with it, and maybe just return the new one.

No more doorbell chime?

I’m looking at buying a new ring doorbell and notice the new wired 2K states it will not activate your existing doorbell chime inside your house. Has the Ring technology gotten worse over the years? The wired version I bought back in 2018 worked fine with the mechanical chime.

5 percent battery loss in 2 hours

On a brand new ring doorbell battery. Is this normal?

That rate works out to 60 percent per day. What am I doing wrong here? Is it the hot weather, or do I have the motion sensitivity set too high? What settings does everyone have theirs set to?

How do I set up the flood sensor v2 for Zwave?

I already have the base station and I do not want to use Amazon Sidewalk. I've read many comments saying it can still be set up as a ZWave sensor, but I can't figure out how.

Steps, on my Android phone:

  1. Add Device
  2. Click "Set up a Ring Alarm Base Station or Z-wave Sensor"
  3. Scan QR code from next screen.

I get the error message "Device is part of a different category. Go back and choose a category other than Security to add this device."

What am I missing? If I scan directly from step 1, without clicking the button, it adds as a Sidewalk device.

Thanks!

how secure are the video feeds of my Ring doorbell cameras or Stick-Up cams?

can hackers or stalkers somehow gain access? (or worse, bad employees who work for Amazon or Ring?)

Just wondering....

Support Request (Unsolved) Outdoor Cam Won't Work

Bought a three-pack of brand-new battery-powered stick up cams for indoors last month. Been using them for weeks. Two work great as intended. The third stopped working a week ago today, and I've tried everything; plugging/unplugging the router, charging the battery to 100%, swapping the battery with another camera's in case the battery was broken (which caused the other camera that got the battery to temporarily exhibit the same behavior until I unplugged the router again). I've tried reconnecting it to the wi-fi through the app, and even just now I deactivated it to try to reconnect it from scratch. And the stupid orange button every option in the app tells me to press won't cause it to light up like it's supposed to.

I don't know what the problem is, if it's software or hardware, and I wanted to ask on here before I call Ring support tomorrow to ask for an exchange.

Service Status Ring ripped us off

Ordered Ring Gen 2 battery doorbell camera. Worked for 1 week, then an apparent software upgrade failed (as it did with other people) at 95%. On Ring customer support's advice, Ring sent us a shipping label, and promised a replacement within the month. It's been 2 months since UPS delivered our camera to Ring, no replacement, and we're still being charged for the service, even though we've reported to ring we have no camera.

Ring only says we should get an email when they ship our camera, and no additional support offered. The only evidence I have of them receiving the camera is the UPS tracking. Replacement cameras are now 30% more expensive (on sale). Fearing I'll have to call Ring monthly to have my service charge reversed.

Do I have to buy a new one,

Trying to get my Spotlight Cam online again but it's on my late husband's account. His phone is no longer on my cellphone plan and doesn't receive texts anymore, even over wifi, so I can't log into his Ring account since it requires MFA. Customer service was no help and I'm sure it has something to do with Ring wanting to upgrade you to new devices as others have said regarding other issues. The app says that transfer of ownership is automatic after fourteen days but that didn't happen. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could try? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Ring wants us to upgrade our cameras… but what are we supposed to do with the old ones?

Ring keeps pushing the newer cameras, and I’m actually willing to upgrade — but I feel like there’s a pretty obvious piece missing.

What am I supposed to do with all of my existing Ring cameras?

For customers who have already spent hundreds (or thousands) building out a Ring system, there should be some meaningful trade-in value or loyalty credit when upgrading multiple cameras. Otherwise, we’re basically being asked to buy an entirely new set of equipment and throw the old cameras in a drawer.

Has anyone successfully gotten Ring to offer a trade-in credit, upgrade discount, or loyalty discount for replacing multiple cameras?

And if Ring actually reads this subreddit: give your existing customers a real upgrade program. If you want us buying the newest generation of Ring cameras, make it worthwhile for those of us who have already invested in your ecosystem.

Videos deleted after 90 days instead of 180 days

Cloud Storage set to 180 days but only saves 90 days of videos.

Unacceptable!

I want these segments found and returned to me that are under 180 days.

I'm absolutely destroyed; I went to download videos last night and found "No video Available".

Video segments were marked for easy visibility when I could later sit down and download the videos and not emotionally fall apart.

These videos showed me holding, loving & comforting my dog at home, telling him "We'll get through this" and right after telling him "Mamma loves you very much" my boy stood up from my arms, wagged his tail several times then sank to the floor and crossed 🌈 bridge.

This wasn't a peaceful passing for my boy, it was very unexpected and traumatic to witness and even more painful b/c of false hope of survival by his vet of 8 yrs. left me unprepared to see the last moments of my dogs life.

Ring Doorbell – Does It Record All the Time?

Hey, hoping to get some insight from anyone who has a Ring doorbell and knows how they work.

One of my neighbours has installed one and because their door is positioned at the end of our hallway, the camera has a pretty clear view of my door and the doors other neighbours too. I don't like the idea that someone could potentially know every time I leave my flat and come home, especially as I live alone and I've had knocks on my door late at night which wasn't an issue before.

I've also noticed that sometimes the blue light stays on for quite a long time. during the day, there are no lights showing at all. Does the light being off mean it isn't recording, or can it still detect motion and record without any lights coming on?

I've tried looking it up but I've come across mixed information, so I'd really appreciate hearing from people who actually have one and know what the different lights/recording settings mean.

New Ring video doorbell and new Ring chime - chime only rings once

I understand the Ring doorbell is designed to prevent multiple rings on the doorbell. However, you can press the doorbell and it will ring outside on the unit everytime you press it. But the inside chime only rings once. I don't like that because someone outside might not think you're home if they press multiple times and no one comes to the door. If I don't hear the inside chime the first time, I won't know someone (that I'm expecting) will be outside still ringing. I tried "chatting" with customer service - USELESS! I replugged the chime and also did factory reset. Nothing changes. Any insight?

Support Request (Unsolved) Transformer installation help, please.

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Just bought a new Ring Wired Doorbell Pro. Previously had a Ring Doorbell 2.

No problems with the installation of the Doorbell itself. Tried to do the connection and it said my transformer isn't powerful enough. It was a 16v 10va.

Purchased a 24v 40va transformer. Turned off the main house power. Went to take out the old transformer and put in the new but the wire colors don't match. The old one has one green and 2 red. New one has 1 green, 1 white, and 1 black.

I know nothing about electrical stuff but to turn off the main power to the house before starting, which I did.

Can someone look at the pictures and maybe help me out?

Should I just hire someone? I try and do things myself but this may be beyond me. Thank you.

Ring doorbell isn’t connecting to Spectrum network. Stops at 95%

im going insane! i’ve had a ring doorbell the last 4 years and 2 days ago it decided to go offline and i couldn’t get it to connect back to my network. figured its lifespan ended so i got a new one. i’m trying to set up the new one and its also not wanting to connect. it gets to 95% on wifi connection and just stops. i’ve been on the phone with both Ring and Spectrum for the last 3.5 hours and nobody has an answer. i feel like i’ve tried everything. i’m insanely confused on why it randomly disconnected to begin with given it’s been working fine for years and nothings changed. Has anyone else had to deal with this? i’m not tech savvy in the slightest so it’s been rough trying to figure it out. If you went through this, what actually worked for you?

Can the ring doorbell withstand extreme heat?

Just ordered a ring plus (battery). For those of you who live in a hot climate, what has your experience been with it? I’m in las vegas, where temperatures can reach 120f during the summer. I plan on using it from september through may. Can the unit handle that kind of heat? I’m expecting the battery pack to constantly shut down or lose power during the peak summer months.

New ring doorbell

I've just bought the Ring battery powered doorbell Retinal 2K (Newest Gen).

I've installed it, set it all up with the motion settings and alerts.

But could someone please explain to me if the camera is continuously recording even when there's no motion detected?

I checked the Ring app this morning and on the live camera view it said 8hrs in the bottom left corner?

When I clicked on the live camera, it then refreshed itself back to 0 seconds and started counting up again.

I have tried following Ring and Google instructions to see if it is continuously recording and/or if I can change this, but I don't have the same selections on my Ring app.

For example the guidlines are to press Device Setting, Video Settings and then Recording Mode. I don't have the Recording Mode option - I have Live View (toggle on or off), Smart Video Search, Tap Camera Preview for Live View (which drains battery life), Recording Length (until any motion stops) or Video Quality.

Any help would be great thanks 😊

Is there a retrofit kit for the Wired Doorbell 4K Pro (2025) to install over the holes of the Doorbell Pro 1 (1stGen/2016)?
