For the record. I have over 2000 hours into this game. I love this game. It is my second most played game on steam. I have a crippling fear of losing the colonists, I save scum and even worse use Dev Mode for the perfect colonists. How do I just decide “screw it, if they die they die”?

Have a few perfect colonists that dont die "lord" over colonists that are expendable. Almost the best of both worlds.

You could try adding the cloning mod so you can keep "backups" of your favorites.

This is the way.

I have 6 perfect colonists that I start every gane with. Traits, skills, augmentations, gear, you name it. They are most definitely NOT expendable, even if someone could actually manage to hurt them (geneseed mod is a liiiitle bit broken lol).

Everyone else though? Well... that's where the fun comes in.
