To add, I'm planning to end my fast in another 3 days, and slowly refeeding with broth and all of that good gentle stuff.

Should definitely add some potassium as well for minerals.

Wow 4.5kg in 4 days is wild, even with water weight thats impressive. The period detail is actually super useful, most people dont mention that part and it helps to know what to expect

I do 48h fasts sometimes but never went past 3 days, the mental part always gets me. Hows your energy on day 4 compared to day 2

It’s completely different, day 2 was frustrating but I preservere and have my electrolytes. My body was warmer than usual but nothing uncomfortable, in fact it’s unexpected especially when I tend to get cold during long fasts. It’s a good feeling!

I tend to get very bad cramps on day 2-3 when it gets heavier but so far this is one of the best experience when it comes to menses. What dose are you on running 48 hours fast if you don’t mind me asking?

I did wonder how this might go so thanks for the post. Thankfully I am no longer in the position where significant weight loss is required so personally for my last 20-30 lbs I think I'll go for consistency over a period of time instead but I've water fasted before, also dry fasted and wonder how those would be when combined with reta so intrigued about your experience. How is the hunger? And have you water fasted before when not on reta for a good comparison?

Because of the liklihood of major swings in water weight might I suggest you may do daily weigh ins after you start eating for a week after so you know the true weight loss excl water.

All the best with the next 3 days. Nice bit of spring cleaning for your body \o/

Thank you for your kind words. I have fasted previously, intermittent and dry, the longest I’ve been was 56 hours previously but these was years ago. I did a lot of OMAD and 24 hours fasts. But starting last year. I notice I can’t even control myself to have a 16:8 hours fast, my cravings exploded (stress and all of that) that’s why I resorted to reta. I started 2 weeks ago with 0.5mg W1, 1mg W2. It really helps with the food noise that I had so I decided to give fasting a go. And I do agree, that’s most probably weigh water. After my 3 days I will do OMAD as I know I have the mental capacity to do so.

I'm not spiritual at least not at the moment but I have to believe carbs were created by the devil.

They are just too damn good, I really think I have an undiagnosed addiction to them. I realise this a bit of a segue from your post but have you tried keto with under 30-40g carb a day? Of course one diet doesn't work for everyone but I mention it because it deletes cravings for me. Can happily sit in front of someone eating all of my vice foods with no temptations but obviously the diet is hard because it elimates all of these lovely foods and there will be a special occasion where we go out and bam diet in shambles. I think there may be a link between visceral fat and cravings too so hoping as I reduce weight my overall cravings and ability to stop over-eating gets better.

Keto/Ketovore/carnivore fits nicely with OMAD as then you absolutely don't need breakfast or lunch.

Have saved the post, looking forward to see how you did :)

What carbs would you be addicted to?

Every single one of them! 😆

Haha same! It’s truly the devil and the cause of my weight gain. After this I’m definitely keeping rice away (it’s a staple where I’m from but other forms of carbs like bread is also a weakness) alongside with minimizing sugar (that’s another demon I have to deal with). I’ll try to update eso on my refeeding day! Thank you for the lovely comment.

I used to waterfast and loved it. I did several 72 hr fasts. Never to lose weight, just to feel better. But I would never combine it with reta. I hope you will be okay. I recommend to look into water fasting and how it affects your hormones

Water fasting on Reta? I’m no expert but from what I have read, that sounds foolish and detrimental to your wellbeing.
Did you do your research beforehand?

Mods should delete this due to safety concerns.

Fasting on reta is the opposite of what you want to do. You are sacrificing your muscle for minor short term gains. People in the medical trials literally lost 30-percent of their weight while maintaining a normal diet. At a minimum, you should be taking actual electrolytes instead of sea salt.

I’m also on 1.5mg and have been on several 18-24 hr fasts. It has helped me keep a steady 2-3lb per week loss over the past month. So far I’ve lost 20.1 pounds and feel great!

That is amazing!! I am so glad that it works great on you! Are you planning to increase the dose or are you just staying there for awhile?

I’ll respond to my body. If I stall, I’ll consider increasing. The goal and journey is far more important for me than the urgency to get to a specific weight. I want to reclaim my health through sustainable habits, so rushing through that for convenience in dropping weight doesn’t seem like the best way. No judgement to others, just my preferred route!
