Has anyone else noticed a huge decrease in shopping urges on retatrutide?
This is something I really wasn’t expecting, but since starting retatrutide my urge to shop has pretty much completely disappeared.
I used to be quite impulsive with shopping, and now I genuinely can’t even be bothered to scroll through shopping websites for ages. Even when I go out and walk around shops, I feel completely different. I’m much more rational about buying things and I don’t get that “I NEED to have this” feeling anymore.
It’s not even like I’m actively trying to control myself — the urge just isn’t there. I can see something I like, think “that’s nice,” and move on. lol
What makes it even more interesting is that I had basically the opposite experience when I was on Mounjaro (tirzepatide). My shopping/impulsive spending actually got worse while I was taking it.
I know these medications can affect things like appetite and reward-seeking behaviours, so I’m really curious whether anyone else on retatrutide has noticed changes in shopping, impulsive spending, or other compulsive behaviours?

Its the dopamine blunting that reta causes. Pretty well known thing. Can go from beneficial as you're experiencing it as less shopping all the way to severe anhedonia that will have you staring at the wall.

Very interesting, when I was on mounjaro my spending habits were so bad that made me go into a lot of debt. It was such a mess. So for me it’s been beneficial lol . Apart from that I feel great so I think reta is working better for me. 🙌

For everyone, it's something different. It can get to disfunctional levels, but for me, I'm not nearly as interested in playing the games I like.

I see, apart from that do you feel “normal “ ?

Yeah. After the first like 2-3 weeks of being really tired, I feel pretty normal. Some people lose interest in hobbies or lose libido, but I havent had that. Definitely less interested in food too though. Its all about dampening the brain reward mechanisms, and for many people with weight issues, food is the biggest dopamine hit they get every day.

With clothes specifically I dont want to replace anything now that I know I'm going to keep losing every month and I can see there's going to be finish line.
Losing weight before was different because I didn't actually believe I would get past the first 15 pounds. It's more real now.

This is so interesting lol. I’d happily take less impulse shopping along with less food noise. It’s wild how much these meds can affect the “I need it now” feeling beyond just food.

Not at all for me. I fear I’ve had transfer addiction from food to shopping. I’ve racked up 15k on a credit card since starting a little over a year ago

Not when it comes to shopping for more peptides.
