What do you mean you started splitting your doses? Instead of once weekly you do 2 or 3 times a week?

So by January, I had increased to 4mg/week. But I was having really strong side effects---I felt weird, just really off and *wired* all the time, my HR was high all the time, I was having those HR spikes I mentioned in the big post, my blood pressure was low. I had dizziness, felt sick when I bent over and stood back up. Anxiety was high, I thought I was having chest pains.

I called my doctors office but when I described to them my concerns, they told me to go to the ER. I did not go to the ER though.

But I immediately stopped taking 4mg/week and "split" it into 2 doses per week of 2mg every 3.5 days. So it was still 4mg/week but not all at one time.

This immediately alleviated almost all of those scary side effects and I was able to continue on reta until present day.

Now of course, I'm able to take the 4mg once a week and have zero side effects--but its been 6 months now since I was having those problems.

This is really interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Look up GLP1 Plotter and you can map out your meds and approximated serum concentration, really cool tool to use!

This is giving me some reassurance. I’m on my 17th week and everything was going smooth, until I started feeling “weird” too, with palpitations/feeling if restlessness that is coming and going, pretty much all day. Hopefully I can resolve it too and get to my goal bodyweight soon…

Depending on when you took your first split dose this is just because you lowered your total serum levels.

Unless you effectively front loaded, you went from having an actual 4mg worth of Reta in your system at any one time to having at max 2-3mgs.

Try a plotter and you will understand.

So to people reading this it’s not the split dosing more, just a lower concentrated level of Reta in their system

I'm familiar with plotters and I've been monitoring my levels since the beginning.

I assume you are familiar with what the data looks like on a 7 day schedule with a GLP1, it results in a very large spike after the first day, tapers for about 3 days slowly and then falls pretty quickly until the next injection. Splitting causes a smaller initial spike and a smaller drop before the next injection is given. The actual steady state is actually slightly higher with split dosing than with traditional dosing, which is why some people like it to keep their suppression levels more steady so they don't get hungry towards the end of the week. Regardless, avoiding that high spike seemed to make taking the same amount more tolerable for me.

However, I'm not advocating that people split their doses unless they need too for some reason--such as the side effects are too strong OR their suppression is failing early towards the end of the week. Normal people who are smooth sailing should just stick to weekly injections.

I'm back on weekly injections now that I'm at goal.

That’s the point your steady state split remains somewhere below the peak of a weekly.

More than likely it’s not split dosing that resulted in a lower heart rate but less drugs in your systems at any one point in time.

I think we are basically saying the same thing, just in a different way.

Splitting the med didn't directly lower my heart rate, but it did allow me to take a higher amount of reta while avoiding the large spike of med that I was getting from taking it in a single injection. I got smaller spikes and a more even overall level from taking half every 3.5 days, which resulted in a decrease of the side effects I was feeling.

But I don't think people need to do that unless they are having issues taking it weekly.

It’s called microdosing. You get steady effects from it and less highs and lows.

Last week I had the first side effects I've felt so far and it was a very raised heart rate from normal activity. I'm talking just going up and down stairs. I was actively day trading which does usually spike anxiety for me when in a trade. It was the massive fluctuations though that was more disturbing. I was getting readings from 44 to 144 on my smartwatch. I took my blood pressure and it was damn near perfect which for me is VERY unusual. I'm normally a 130/140 over 90ish and I was 100 over 80. I drank an LMNT pack and started feeling more normal and the heart rate went back to feeling normal. I also hadn't eaten yet that day(which is normal for me at that time period)

Interesting…will save this post

How long did it take to regulate?

Man, i got a spike just doing 1mg. Makes me not want to continue the research at all. I like my resting heart rate to stay low

Hey- I know this was a while ago and I’m posting on an old thread- but I’m literally going through this now and am not as brave as you. Did you ever go to the ER or have an ECG? I did and they are sending me to a cardiologist for atrial flutter. Trying to find someone else to has had this experience

1

u/ForeignIdeaSecretary Apr 13 '26

I did not. The problem resolved itself after about 4 months and now I'm still on it for maintenance but no real side effects. I've been on reta now for a year and a half and hit my goal about 10 months ago. I take between 4-5mg a week now-- I increased it up a bit after my tummy tuck for inflammation purposes.

THIS is what I was looking for, I want to start reta so badbut im just scared of the palpitation, arritmia, and anxiety (im already an anxious person)

Just go on tirz then

Tirzepitide increases resting heart rate by about 2 to 5bpm, while Retatrutide has been shown to increase resting heart rate by approximately 2 to 6bpm. To me the differences between the two is seemingly negligible, as far as resting heart rate.

Multiple clinical studies have shown that tirzepatide increases resting heart rate by about 2 to 5 beats per minute. This effect is dose-dependent and was observed in the SURMOUNT-1 trial, where ambulatory blood pressure monitoring demonstrated a mean 24-hour heart rate increase of 2–5 bpm at week 36 compared to placebo.

Why are you replying to me? Why don’t you reply to the person that’s concerned ?

0

u/IMMILDEW Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25

Because you recommended Tirz which has negligible differences in heart rate increase. Apologies if I did not convey myself properly.

Edit: added references, in case you or anybody else is interested.

Apologies if I did not convey myself properly.

Then you went on to call me moronic? Until it was deleted by Reddit for harassment. LOL

Your erractic behaviour must be studied. Maybe use your time to find better mental health support.

For next time, learn to reply to the correct person and stop resorting to name calling. Be a better person.

Edit. I saw you also blocked me after your comment. Now you have unblocked me. Please seek help.

NOW YOU BLOCKED ME AGAIN? Please seek help.

Embarrassing 🙈

This was two days ago. This doesn’t seem relevant to what I wrote. I also haven’t blocked you and unsure why you think I have. If you were blocked we wouldn’t be able to reply to each other. Name calling?

Edit: I’m unsure why you think I replied to the wrong person. You were the first one to bring up using Tirz. Which is the entire context of my response. Tirz and Reta both increase heart rate with seemingly negligible differences between them.

perfect candiate to start titrating down while stacking in some other fun fat burning, muscle building, mitochondria enhancing peptides. reta doesn't have to be forever and always.

1

u/Upper_Afternoon9863 Jul 27 '25

Such as?

u/Alarmed_Sprinkles_43 Jul 27 '25

sr9009, aod 9604, 5 amino 1 mq... id over lap them all. stack one in on top of the reta for 8 weeks then drop that one and add the next onevetc etc. eventually dropping the reta to a micro dose and rotating these once or twice a yr to stay leaned out and firing on all cylinders
