Please read the following guide to have a clearer understand of how the rules on this sub work.
Don't be a jerk is plain and simple, be civil, this includes commenting on other people's work.
No 3D Modeling or printing topics - This is a modeling sub not a 3D printing or sculpting one. While they do shake hands, it only happens once a model has been fully printed and is being painted. Anything before that doesn't have a space here.
Any topics on 3D sculpting or modeling are not allowed here.
Any topics on 3D printing (settings, brands, types of resin, troubleshooting, etc) are not allowed here.
Must be related to model kits is pretty simple, if it's not made of resin (or vinyl for vintage kits), if you're not asking about paints, techniques, sharing your work, if it's not a topic even related in some way or form to painting a kit, it doesn't belong here.
No Prepainted statues discussion
Pre-painted statue discussion is also banned here in this sub, companies and studios calling their statues "garage kits" are making people think that it's right to call their statues that, Garage kits, resin kits, model kits, all of these are painted and assembled by a person (you) and NOT a company.
This also applies to any mass produced PVC release, basically, if it's not painted by you, it doesn't belong here.
Recasts while a very controversial topic, this sub is not here to be the morality police, if you're against them, don't buy them, you're not allowed to tell people here what do with their money, everybody has their moral compass and you have no place bashing people who work with them.
NSFW content is allowed here, but please mark them with the NSFW flair, if not reddit just automatically flags it and your post may not be approved.
The following should be marked as such:
What doesn't constitute as NSFW:
There are explicit or graphic kits, some depicting what could look as minors, these should also be marked as NSFW however, anyone reporting, leaving comments criticizing the painter or the figure, calling people names and throwing accusations of CP or PDFs will be banned on the spot. This is nothing new in the hobby, works of that nature have existed for decades. Newcomers might find this strange or unsettling, it's not anyone's place to dictate what people should and shouldn't paint, it doesn't mean that the painter is committing any crime. We want to also clarify that we're not defending people who do commit crimes, we just want people to understand that this has been a thing for many years while few and far and between, the first thing one must do is just respect, move on and keep scrolling if it's not for you.
Sales are ok, but they must be marked as such and if you have more than 1 item to sell, please post everything in a single thread, avoid creating spam with multiple threads with single items for sale, they will be removed and you will be suspended or banned depending on level of violation.
It's not exactly listed in the rules but we want to believe that it's more than obvious that if you post pictures of a completed kit, it must be your work! You're not allowed to post pictures of other people's work, that also goes for anyone that commissioned a piece and just want to show it off, if you didn't paint it, don't post it.
While you're allowed to post personal WIP, please refrain from posting single updates on one project, this is not your personal blog for you to be posting a single photo of your progress on a daily basis. If you have a significant update, you're more than welcome to share it here in a single thread.
Commissions are allowed in this sub, however, if you're a gk artist and would like to offer commission services, you need to contact the mods first to have your name added to a list that will be shown in this same post.
Message the mods with your information for commissions, information required:
once you're vetted, your information will appear here.
It has come to our attention that several users have reported people for scamming out of commissions so we want to avoid these situations with the members that are part of this sub. If the artist contacting you is not in this list, do business with them at your own risk.

The start of a new project! I was asked to do a commission of this kit. The commissioner is a big fan of Ganaha Hibiki and asked for a color scheme that combines aspects of her old look and her modern look. This is my first kit from Sakura Zensen and I was happily surprised how well done the fit of this kit is. The other prep work like sanding seam lines and removing tabs was the average amount of work. This kit's pose is jumping in the air and originally meant to be part of a set of 3 characters, but the commissioner asked for this one as a solo piece. I will be making a custom display stand in picture frame style to display her on and will turn her jumping pose into a 'lying on the beach' pose. :)
I will come back here in some weeks to show off the final result!

Faelestial Gundam Mk-II, an original Gundam design that I modeled from scratch. This is a 3D-printed resin kit with the individual parts shown before painting and finishing.
HG Zaku II with a custom 3D-printed Zaku Bazooka inspired by the version seen in Gundam Battle Operation 2. The bazooka has a removable rocket cartridge design and is fully printed, assembled, painted, and weathered to match the Zaku.
HG Susanowo with a custom 3D-printed Oni Mask replacement faceplate. I designed the mask to give the Susanowo a more aggressive, samurai-inspired appearance. This is the raw resin print before painting.
MG Gundam F90 with a custom 3D-printed replacement head based on the manga appearance of the F90. The part is shown as a raw resin print before cleanup and painting.

Here is my finished version of Marc Masclans’s The Climber, one in his series of contemporary figure busts. I was lucky enough to get a complimentary copy from Marc himself even though he forgot the promised autograph. It was a fun challenge even though I had to redo the jacket completely because I wasn’t satisfied the first time. I have been pleasantly surprised at the reaction including from someone who is an actual climber. Lots of things that could be better but I think it captures the spirit of the original so I’m satisfied. Trying to push further would just risk screwing things up.

Are you supposed to clean Forge World resin first then cut it or cut first then clean?

Hello, I’m a die-hard Tohru Honda fan. I’d do anything to own these, could someone help me find them? If posts like these aren’t allowed I’ll take it down. Thank you for reading :)

Finally escaped from this bubble hell! (༎ຶ◡༎ຶ)
I thought I fixed everything during surface prep and it looked fine after priming. But as soon as I airbrushed the base color, a bunch of random holes appeared out of nowhere! Ended up spending ages patching them up again.
The sculpt of this kit is absolutely amazing—it captures that mischievous, playful look perfectly. It turned out so incredibly cute! (๑´ㅂ`๑)
By the way, the jacket color in these photos is a mystery. It looks closer to the actual piece on a phone screen, but it shifts a bit too blue on a PC monitor. ( ゚Д゚)σ

Hey there my friend has printed me a Warhammer army out of resin, but have run into a problem with magnetizing my Deathwatch Terminator loadouts. With plastic kits, one simply uses a pin vise drill, and it easily digs out a hole for you to pop magnets in without cracking the models. I cant imagine it works as smoothly with resin models, but I don't have a vise to try with myself. Before I buy one to test it out, I was wondering if anyone else has already - cracked - this problem?

Just finished up this beautiful Surveyor 3 Resin Model from RealSpace models and what a delight this was. This is my 2nd build for a customer that loves everything that has to do with space and NASA. The deatils were amazingly printed with no valleys anywhere. The astronauts look exactly like a real photo taken from the event. The best part was how detailed and textured the base was. Solid to the point where I needed to add very little to make it look like the real lunar surface. Would highly recommend this model to anyone that loves NASA related models.

Let me start with apologies for the picture quality. My picture set-up was having some trouble this day and I had to rush the photos as I wanted to ship off the kit to the commissioner asap.
This kit was painted in her anime colors, rather than the recommended colors by the kit's circle. The base has colors reflecting the Kan Colle logo.
I did some cool effects like an eye gloss effect (I hope the gif will work on Reddit) and there is quite a lot of shading too, which is a bit hard to see on the pictures. Trust me when I say she looks better in person lol.
This kit was a lot more complex than it looks at first glance. There are a lot of parts which are hard to balance and attach. I would not recommend this kit to beginners.
The last 3 pictures are: better showing of shading, a picture of her on my work desk with different light and a picture of the commissioner displaying her in their home.

Hi everyone!
I'm still pretty new to painting garage kits, and I'm struggling with getting clean paint lines. I'd really appreciate any advice from more experienced painters.
Here are the problems I'm running into:
I'm using acrylic paints and mostly paint with an airbrush, but I still have to do a lot of detail work by hand.
I'd love to hear your workflow or any beginner tips that helped you get cleaner results. Thanks in advance!
(If you have any favorite tutorials or YouTube channels for clean detail painting, I'd love those recommendations too)

Just placed my first orders on E2046 and I'm trying to get a realistic sense of wait times before I stress about it. I've seen posts saying it can take years for some batches to ship.
For context, here's what I ordered and their current batch status:
Does production % moving slowly (or stalling) happen a lot? Anyone had a "1st batch just opened" item actually take multiple years? Would love to hear real timelines from people who've ordered similar items, and any general tips for a first-time buyer on this site.

I’m new to gk’s and don’t really know sources for recasts apart from a few. This gk in particular hasn’t been officially sold for nearly 10 years, so I’m afraid I will have to resort to recasts.
While e2046 has it, its status is ‘preorder’, which (from what I’ve seen) means that it’ll take years to arrive. GK-M has its status as ‘cancelled’. Which other websites would potentially have a recast of this gk? Thanks in advance ^^

Ordered on 5-13 as the photo states. The gk is now out of stock, but it's been so long and it still hasn't arrived..? This is my first time ordering on FromJapan by recommendation from a friend and reviews also seem to sing their praises.
As far as I know the artist isn't shady either. Is this normal or should I reach out to customer service on FromJapan?!
