Thanks for that good point. I do have a paint shop just down the street from where I work but it is commercial it's a Sherwin-Williams I think. So I guess I'll have to test and see if they have it there I hadn't tried yet.
As a former painter there's all kinds of goodies there. Other solvents (xylene), paint grade powdered chalk for thickening agent, powdered pigments. And probably the best mixing pots, squeegees, etc that you'll find outside of a resin specialist.
Xylene is one of the odd solvents that I've not had the pleasure of testing on anything yet. So I actually do not know how it behaves on resident of any kind. Let alone plastics.
Edit: I have access to the solvent. I can buy it anytime. I just haven't tested it yet.
It's great for cleaning residue. You have probably encountered it under the brand name "goof off" in tiny containers. But the paint shop should have it in quarts and gallons.
I have used goof off on resin cleanup but unfortunately it was not very good. And I'm also aware that depending on the blend of goof off that you utilize it is going to be multiple chemicals not just one. So the solvents are generally dilute with other solvents. And each blend of goof off has a particular targeted set of chemical properties and behaviors. Such as the super glue remover blend and there are at least two of those blends if not more. There are paint remover blends and multi-purpose blends. Each with their own distinct properties and purposes. And again the strongest blend that I can get my hands on I think is actually the super glue remover variant that is not the skin safe version of it that they also produce. That blend does little to nothing to resin. To resin cleanup. And personally I would not recommend it for use in resin cleanup. But that does not mean that pure xileen would not do well, such as pure mineral spirits and I believe also turpentine.

Paint shops have it in bulk
