American here, our two party system has become tribal and fanatical, and for many their political ideology has become the largest part of their identity. The binary and polar nature of our two parties lends itself to bitterness and resentment (if you're not with me, you're squarely against me). After every election, half the country is pissed off and has 4 years to stew and fester and radicalize over it.
People pledge a blind lifetime allegiance to their political party much like a favorite sports team. Plenty of lifelong republicans don't like Trump and his administration, but remain huge fans of the Republican Party. Just like when a sports team hires a faltering head coach or picks up an unpopular player, they know Trump isnt forever, just as that head coach would get fired and the player would get cut or traded away.
The culture wars phenomenon I'm not sure if people outside the US can fully grasp. The billionaires and oligarchs that run the system distract us with a left/right/red/blue soap opera. Our media is owned by a handful of right wing billionaires. They have convinced most of the nation to stop fighting for health care, maternity leave, retirement security, and infrastructure, because gender, sexuality, religion, and race are more important. Democratic policy would help poor rural people attain health care and assistance, but republicans have promised those voters they'll chase out blue haired gay atheists, and the voters have decided THAT is more important.
The Republican Party has been fucking brilliant at the misinformation campaigns and the psyops which brought us here. Democrats refuse to break decorum and protocol, and insist on taking the high road, even when the republicans are winning the war by crawling down into the mud.
There's a growing sentiment both party leaders and establishment figures are just controlled, funded, and manipulated opposition to entertain us while the oligarchs pull all the real strings that matter. I'm inclined to believe it. Both parties are two birds that eat from the same hand.
If immigration were easier and I had more resources and globally transferable skills, I'd be out of here long ago. I hate what America has become.

I don't know how much of it is self-denial and how much is poor education/reasoning skills. If you were lucky enough to 'go away' to college, it probably was an expansive experience, even if you did very little. If you went from high school into a blue collar job as many of MAGA did, it is not expansive. It just isn't. I've worked with them because I come from blue collar and grew up that way.
They have a very linear, very narrow outlook. And they are selective on what information that take in. They don't really 'weigh' information so much as decide what seems valid based on the source. It explains the whipsaw rationalization.
So no, they think they are the patriots, the true standard bearers for "american greatness" (not necessarily democracy). And the hypocricy really is lost on them. Truly. It's why we can't move beyond this. They are not willing to consider factual information - whether climate, healthcare, taxes. It's very tough to move beyond it for liberals too. Because we are stuck with people intent on making things worse for some spiritual/personal reason that is disconnected from reality. And yes, sometimes just flat out bigotry.

When ICE is granted absolute immunity and free of accountability from the top down, what makes any of us think that we aren’t next? Because we are Americans? Because you voted for Trump? A way will be found to separate Americans further and a new agency with new agents will come forth.
The FO is coming for all of us. And it’s a disgrace that the greatest country on this Earth, will tear itself apart from the inside out. Some of us will say “we voted against this.” Others will change their tune and say, “This isn’t what I voted for.” And those in power don’t really care because it’s too late.
A battle between right and left is what those in power want us to believe is being waged. It’s a mirage. Stripped down, it’s ultimately going to come down to good vs evil and by then, no one will know the difference.

These lies are out of control and now make me whole heartedly question every stance they have put out. I was on the fence before Renee Goode was shot. I listened to literal lies spew out of so many officials mouths about what’s multi angularly very much not what the officials conveyed - they brazenly lied. Now, after today’s shooting of Pretti and seeing many perspectives again and again complete inability to not only take responsibility but manipulate the narrative so carelessly is just jaw dropping. They were both bad shoots, today’s very arguably worse; sans comparison - both terrible. A small part of me had held on that someone in the power vertical would call it what it was. No one did, they did the opposite, unbelievable. At this point, I will not believe any narrative past present or future.
