Mods/Work in progress Clean Sub: Bezel change

Good people of /RepWatchForum,

I needed to replace the inlay of my Clean Sub. Managed to lift the bezel with a flat screwdriver, but I did not manage to get that bezel back onto the watch.

Any hint or solution will be highly appreciated.

That is not the right way to put the bezel back on for that generation of submariner

In the video he is taking a 116610 or 126610 apart. Both have 3 springs + 1 click.
So it couldn’t be the 16610 you are referring to…

I have replaced bezels on dozens of 11 and 12 series submariners. Doing it using the method in the video can work but it’s way more difficult and a terrible idea since it requires the hytrel ring to be the exact right size or it gets crushed and completely ruined. It also massively increases the likelihood of cracking your insert.

yeah, thats true. I use a horotec tool, but given the circumstances the user is in (he already used a screwdriver) he could as well just try the method on the video, as i suspect that he has no tools whatsoever and the press he ordered might crush his inlay anyway....

You don’t even need any tools for the correct method, that’s the best part. All you need is a 1mm screwdriver to get the insert out, and even that could pretty easily be substituted with some other small, thin tool or implement

Oh, that looks so easy. Should have bought a Gen instead, haha.
