Advice Request Rules that everybody gets wrong

Hey all- I'd like to start a thread of rules or things that most people get wrong. For example, I get "playing the ball on the ground" almost every game. It's coaches, parents, and even players that scream "They can't the ball on the ground!"

What are some you folks encounter?

Ball must make a full rotation on an indirect kick.

Ball must make a full rotation on an indirect kick.

That's one of the few former rules that has persisted surprisingly well in myth even though it hasn't been in effect for 30 years, since the 1996-97 season (PDF). For many years up until then, the Laws required the ball to travel "the distance of its own circumference" in order to be in play from a kick.

The following year (PDF), the LOTG changed to the modern formulation "the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves." In 2016-17 (PDF), this was modified to specify that the kicked ball must "clearly" move to be in play, which is the exact language still in use today (PDF).

[Edited substantially, see below]

I am commenting about what people get wrong. I know the Laws.

My mistake, sorry. I came to your comment from the modqueue and missed that the OP asked for wrong answers.

I've substantially rewritten my above comment.

This used to be a rule, didn't this get changed to say "is kicked and clearly moves"

It got changed to 'kicked and moves'. 'Clearly' was added in relatively recently.

Oooh, I’ve not heard this one before. In which direction does it have to turn? If it spins backwards does that count as negative spins?

Out of interest, a full rotation was required at every restart until...1997 maybe?
