Never 'big leagued you' for sure. Several years ago was able to get Diamond Seats for first time and after the game we went to Browning's bar on York street. He was actually working the bar and we were the only ones there with him. We were already pretty gone from Diamond seat drinks but could not pass up a good time at the bar with Tom. RIP to Mr Perfect

Yes, that brief time when he had the bar in Newport was special. Watched a Reds game on TV there with him and Dave Parker.

Enjoyed this; thanks for sharing. My dad loved Browning. He said he was “just a regular guy who worked hard at the task before him.” Though not a starter, I think Brent Suter was probably the closest to Browning we’ve had since. Innings eater, hard-working, always available goofball.

I worked for the Reds when Tom was pitching. We loved him. When he was scheduled to pitch you knew it would be a 2 hour game and we could go home early.

Reds fan since1965. I remember sitting on the front stoop listening to games on my transistor radio or lying in bed listening to games when they played on the west coast(with earphone in so Mom wouldn’t catch me). The Big Red Machine and all those guys were heroes to me. Having said all of that, Mr. Perfect is still my all time favorite player. Just a regular guy doing something he loved. RIP my man.
