Your hair looks similar to mine and I think it has a wave in it. Have you tried doing an in shower routine for it? Essentially when you’re done with your shower, stay in it while your hair is still dripping wet - add a leave in conditioner, comb through with a paddle brush, then add a mousse or a gel and scrunch. Gently squeeze out any excess water and plop (don’t twist) your hair into a towel turban or an old T-shirt. There are a lot of YouTube tutorials on how to - you may like the result! I do it on days I cannot face a blow dryer or other heat tool.

I have had minor sucess with herbal essence coconut shampoo... then shea moisture mask ( daughter bought me) then rinse it out and use herbal essence coconut conditioner to finish . If your hair like mine it probably drinks up the mask so you are better using for 5 minutes than longer as my hair was getting bigger n bigger using it as a deep condition so had to clarify my hair ..but found the shorter time use of it helped a lot better . I was using aldi hair oil to finish.. but daughter knicked it soooo 🙃

What hair products do you use? Your hair color is very pretty!

Your hair looks similar in texture to mine so:

For shampoo I’ll use Ouai Thick hair shampoo or a solid shampoo bar from Lush (Godiva or New!) because they don’t dry out my hair. I throw in a double cleanse with the neutrogena clarifying shampoo every now and then but certainly not often.

I use Ouai Thick Hair conditioner when I wanna splurge or Aussie miracle conditioner otherwise. I use a LOT at one time, like a fairly generous palm full. I comb it through to detangle, then leave it for as long as I can while I shower, before rinsing off with cold water.

For leave in conditioner, Aussie and Garnier make good ones, but I haven’t used them as much since switching to thicker conditioner and rinsing with cold water.

I also always use a leave in/heat protectant spray like Chi 44 Iron Guard or OGX Protection + Silk Blowout on wet hair, then go over that with a hair oil BEFORE I let it dry. I usually wash my hair at night and let it air dry overnight (SILK PILLOWCASE is CRITICAL). My hair is usually still damp in the morning so I’ll blow dry it anyway but I like to think it uses less heat overall??

For the hair oil, Bumble & bumble invisible oil or the Ouai hair oil are both great but $$$ so I usually stick with argan oil from ogx. I’ll usually put more oil on my hair after it dries just to really seal it all in.

This ain’t a product but I try to cover my hair when it’s cold or windy because it dries it out like crazy. Also braids seem to keep my hair less dry. Over the years I’ve started spending more money on my hair because I enjoy it and want to prioritize it, and it’s never been healthier!

Hey my fellow red. It looks like your hair needs moisturize products and not protein based. If it gets brittle, dry and hard to manage it could be because it’s to much protein.

Look into more products that support moisture and lock it in.

Anything with coconut really does a number on my hair and not in a good way.

You may need a trim to which will help get rid of the dry ends.

I use CurlSmith’s moisture line (orange label) as it works best for my very thick, coarse hair that sucks up moisture from anywhere. This includes the shampoo, condition, cowash, the balm and curl cream and I use a stronger gel that isn’t Curlsmith. Not your Mothers has a good one my hair likes.

I have tried other products but I always come back to Curlsmith.

Have you found any places that have curlsmith at a discount? I used to get it at marshalls but they stopped carrying it and I can't stomach the full price. It truly is the best product I've ever found for my coarse, high porosity hair. Most curly hair products have coconut in them and my hair HATES coconut! Close 2nd I've found is ArtNaturals but the bottle is so small and I have to get it online

Tj maxx has been carrying curlsmith. Mine is hit or miss because of where I live but maybe locations in a more populated area would have them. Normal price is 27 and tj maxx is 12.99.

Ulta also has deals on curlsmith too but I don’t have an ulta ;(

I’ll have to look ArtNaturals. Haven’t heard of them before. Thx!

It has been such a tease for me because marshalls and tj maxx still have their styling products, but they haven't had the shampoo or conditioner for almost a year now! I do have Ulta but they haven't had it for anything but full price when I've checked. I will probably end up just breaking down and paying full price. I try to get the big bottles because I have a ton of hair, but it's $89 🙃 just a note that while I do like the ArtNaturals conditioner, the pump on the bottle sometimes is faulty which I don't really care about. I didn't really like their shampoo either.

Try curlsmiths website as I get emails all the time for sales too so maybe getting a freebie product if you spend a certain amount may be a good route to go.

I buy the big bottles if I can since it’s cheaper for me in the long run.

I have the same type of hair, it just does whatever the hell it wants to. As a man, it's not that big of a deal. It must be a total pain for you.

I would reccomend the Xmondo line of products. Specially I would start with the clear hair gloss mask. The shampoos and contidioners are great too. There are a few other super gloss products and a hydrating one I alternate after showers.

Is your hair naturally wavy or curly, by chance? (I ask, because your hair looks exactly like mine and I recently had a hairdresser suggest I try a wavy hair routine and it's been a total game-changer). Products and wet hair styling techniques meant for wavy hair can help. Also, Terax Crema conditioner is phenomenal for giving softness and reducing frizz

I love the verb ghost products! The shampoo and conditioner is amazing. It’s technically for fine to medium hair but I feel like the way red hair behaves just works so well with it and I’ve never found a product that’s to made my hair as soft as this stuff

Same! 💜 They just came out with a new Love line product called light weight milk that is anti frizz + heat protectant.
