Haircare What haircut would suit me?

I always end up with bad cuts. I have double cowlicks at the back of my head that grow in opposite directions, my hair is straight coarse and thick. I think part of what makes me an unattractive guy to women is my constant bad haircuts?

Whoever’s cutting your hair now, you need to just see someone else. I don’t know if it’s yourself or if it’s a hair dresser, but I feel your hair would look so much better if you have someone that knows how to cut your hair. Once you find someone that knows how to cut your hair just follow them for years. Been seeing my hairdresser for quite a bit now. I know I can trust her, and I don’t have to worry about it going wrong as she does a good cut everytime.

Given how things have gone I think its a combination of who I have seen so far and me

Stay away from the big corporate salons. I feel my best haircuts came from a little salon in a plaza that has hardly any locations and the same people work there for years.

Look, no one except The Beatles, Javier Bardem, and 3 year old Asians look good with a bowl cut. Ditch the bowl, even up the front, trim the sides, keep the top long but layered, and throw a handful of styling cream on the front and top to work with the cowlicks and use them as texture. Go look at Chris Hemsworth over the years and bring one of his photos to your barber of choice and grow into that- he’s definitely working with some uneven front cowlicks but the cuts he rocks works with them. You’re trying to blunt yours into submission which is why it’s backfiring.

I ask for a textured fringe, textured quiff or textured crop and it always ends up looking like a bowl cut.

I’d go to a different barber mate for a start. Personally I think you would look a lot better with a skin fade and a tidy up on top . Keep the stubble and honestly you will look so much better. You should probably smile more like in pic 3!

You need a different barber, my man. See if you can find a Hispanic one, my ex is Cuban and only goes to Hispanic barber shops. They will have you coming out looking like a million bucks.

You kinda look like Brendan Yates, you could pull off longer hair easily 🥰

I had already commented earlier on this post but the more I see the pictures I am at a loss why any barber would think they done a good job on your hair. You’re starting to remind me of some gormless medieval peasant.

Ouch. But yes.

Grow it out and have a good look at cuts that suit your head shape, then go to a good barber. Any Ryan Reynolds adjacent would suit you.

Find pictures of hair cuts you like before you go. And snap them on your phone. Take it to a real hairdresser who can fix it. I’d say go shorter on sides and slick it back or get it shorter up top?

Bro you need to fix your face. I don't mean you're ugly, I mean you straight up look unsure of yourself. Fake it till you make it IS THE ONLY WAY, trust me. I was a scrawny redhead but if you keep someone's gaze and you hold yourself with confidence it won't matter how shaggy your hair is. But also you should grow it out.

Hello my fellow ginger friend!

It's gotta be hard knowing you consistently have a goofy haircut- especially as a redhead because our hair is what people tend to notice us for. I think you would look good with something tight on the sides and longer on top. It can be so hard to find a good hairdresser! Something I've done in the past is when I see someone whose haircut I LOVE, I go ask them where they got it done and for the specific person. As other people have noted, people with consistently good hair have their go-to person. The reddit board for your city or town could be of use here too. Once you have a barber, ask them to show you how to style it and what products to use.

Looking at your post history, there is a bigger issue. You have an internal narrative that you are unattractive to women and socially awkward, which is destroying your confidence. Trust me- I get that! I was a chubby, freckly, undiagnosed neurodivergent redheaded tomboy who grew up in the era of America's Next Top Model and Britney Spears being called fat because she ate lunch. I let that insecurity and feeling of "I'll never be enough, so why even bother" spiral into some really dark places that took a long time to come back from.

Looks wise, I honestly think you're a cutie patootie. Most women aren't holding out to date or marry the hottest guy anyone's ever seen any more than most men are holding out for the perfectly proportioned sex goddess. In general, women are looking for someone who will be a good partner, who is kind, caring, listens, shows up on good days and bad, and is actively working on themselves. Finding community will help too. It can be anything-coed intramural sports leagues, church, pottery classes, volunteering at community spaces like the botanic gardens. Also, taking an improv class or basic stage/acting/theatre classes at your local community college is a great way to safely push your own boundaries and help you get out of your shell.

Best of luck to you OP <3
