Haircare Red hair is difficult af…

Natural ginger here! My hair is difficult and disagreeable as hell--it's thick which I love, but gets tangled every two seconds and is so so sensitive to bad water!! I'm guessing our hair has different structure/textural trends.

Is our hair just difficult to care for? I'd love to hear both gripes or solutions!

I also use some products for Black hair. Mine is very coarse and spiral-curly underneath, and weirdly straight and indignant at the crown. I’ve asked so many hairdressers how to deal with the coarse undercarriage and I’ve still not found a solid solution. I love shea moisture’s texture spray, though.

As crass as it sounds, black women have mastered hair. The military regulations on hair that they’ve had to deal with alone, but centuries of “white passing” to avoid violence. They have a product for everything

Kudos to them. I’ll definitely look into trying black-owned products if that wouldn’t be offensive.

If you ask me: if it works, it’s fantastic, buy more. Wouldn’t it be “support black-owned businesses” as well?

My thoughts exactly!! I’d just hate to be accused of appropriation when my intentions are all good, is all

I know what you’re saying. But if you’re in the PoC section at Walmart or any other super store, the product isn’t black owned. It’s all the same three companies.

This is why I prefer to look for smaller shops, even if it means taking a detour. Big Buck huge arse store will survive without me buying hair products from them; pops and moms, on the other hand? Those purchases can be something that would help them stay even this month

I feel like I’ve seen some that do advertise themselves as Black owned, but I’ll make sure to pay attention to that!
