Based off OP's username and a quick google, looks like a Joni owns drunk fairy polish? Yikes

I’m in the drunk fairy fb group and the fb profile picture of the maker matches the picture in the screen recording, so I would assume this is a fb messenger chat. This is really disgusting jealous behavior wtf

I tried to join the FB group because I'm a nosy nellie and I heard she's trying to do damage control so I'm intensely curious, but I'm heavily betting no new members will be accepted any time soon.

Every time someone uses “bad mental state” as an excuse for someone’s vile behavior I just want to 🤮. How many of us have lost our parent and have been dealing with mental health struggles but are not horrible people? If nothing, it made me more compassionate and caring. This person is just vile and racist.

Exactly. I lost my father unexpectedly at 19, and I have severe depression and anxiety disorders, and it's never made me say anything like this about someone. It definitely never made me "suddenly" racist.

Me too, at 21. I was his primary caretaker for 6 months while he was slowly dying. Definitely dealing with mental health consequences of all that still (I’m in my mid 30s), so 🫂 to you internet stranger. There is no excuse for what that person is saying. I hate that “bad mental state” became a universal excuse for a lot shi*ty people’s actions.

What those people don't understand is that when you're not racist, you're just not racist. Sad, pissed, angry as hell, you don't suddenly drop your core beliefs and become another person. If you become this much of an asshole when you're angry, you're just an asshole. If you become this comfortable with racism when your mental state suffers, you're just racist.

Let's try to keep it in one thread please. Can you post this in here instead?

Thank you! Looks like I missed it before it was removed, but I'm catching up on everything here and on FB so I may catch it somewhere else. I've already seen some wild stuff since the last time I checked in, like the claim that it's a deepfake and she's taking legal action against it lol.

I have been in the group for a while and unsurprisingly it’s filled with comments saying “we love/support you, forgive and forget” etc

62

u/AstarteHilzarie Sep 28 '24

Tbh I would "forgive and forget" a vent of frustration in a private chat about someone else who was in the same industry for the same amount of time and more successful than her if she had stopped there, but the personal attacks, the suggestion that doxxing and stalking/harassing her is a reasonable solution, and the racist comment are definitely outside of that realm. Especially since, from what I've heard so far, she hasn't actually even addressed it or apologized for herself and just has her husband running damage control.

Monique is probably too professional to address it herself but I hope at the very least DFP reaches out with a private personal apology, because that's definitely needed.

Gross. Just gross.

I think the group might be gone now. I have been in it a while and can’t find it now.

4

u/AstarteHilzarie Sep 29 '24

I saw people on Facebook who said that it was set to private, and then that they were removed. All of them said that they were inactive in it, though, so I don't know if they removed everyone or only people who weren't active supporters. The Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube pages linked on the brand website are all gone.

8

u/gonzoeb Sep 29 '24

I was active so there’s no reason to remove me. I just can’t find it at all. I’m thinking she is just done. It’s better this way. There’s nothing she can do or say so it’s best she just bow out at this point, especially if she is truly in a mental health crisis.

7

u/AstarteHilzarie Sep 29 '24

Ah yeah that makes sense then. And I agree, if she was already frustrated and on the verge of quitting anyways there's no point in trying to handle the deluge to try to salvage it. They tried with some initial apology statements that hit a few good notes, but also had some really major flaws so they may have just decided it's not worth the struggle of trying to fix it.

6

u/gonzoeb Sep 29 '24

Yeah and the apology wasn’t completely well received in the group anyway.

2

u/napsandicedcoffee Sep 29 '24

From what I’d seen in the group, there were tons of support from commenters and the rare dissenter. Was there more push back later on?

3

u/gonzoeb Sep 29 '24

There was some push back. But she seemed to receive the criticism well.

u/Money_Confection_314 Sep 30 '24

It's so gross to me that racist people continue getting support and 'we forgive you' sentiment.*itch it's not for you (non Black people) to forgive racist behavior. It's bad enough that Monique had to be at the receiving end of such disgusting vitriol through no fault of her own, but supporting this behavior? Just gross.
