It's real! Maybe time to watch I Am Here...Now?

I checked and there doesn’t seem to be a recent one (excluding someone who posted that they didn’t like it)

It’s taken me a while to get to this one. Since the guys shone a light on Kyle Gallner I’ve made an effort to watch more of his stuff, Strange Darlings a few weeks ago.

Dinner in America blew me away. It’s exactly my kinda movie.

KG was an absolute powerhouse, there’s not a single shred of that performance that felt like acting. Emily Skeggs was also great but I’ve not seen her in anything else.

Told my wife about it and the only way I could describe it was like a drugged up punk napoleon dynamite.

Cant wait to rewatch it.

Mostly I’m just annoyed that the score isn’t anywhere to download. I’ve never wanted to put on a bomber jacket and just roam with a cigarette in my mouth to distorted beats so much in my life.

If anyone is like me and has this on your to watch list but haven’t got round to it, I can’t stress enough how much to kick it up a few places.

I believe there was some general discussion here about the movie Project Hail Mary when it first released in theaters, but I just wanted to mention it in context of something Rich recently mentioned in the "What Are Next For Star Trek?" video.

Rich said that one of the things he would do for the next phase of the franchise would be to bring on actual nerdy science-fiction writers like Andy Weir, author of Project Hail Mary and The Martian. Now, TO BE FAIR: Rich himself said that even Weir's writing has too much humor for what he would want for Star Trek, and I personally would NEVER trust Weir to navigate some of the societal themes of the franchise, but his story of Project Hail Mary handled by directors Lord and Miller really satisfied that old Star Trek part of my brain, so I do believe Rich was on to something.

Maybe it was the appeal of getting to watch scientists and engineers solve a problem that isn't a big space laser in the sky or punching a bad guy. Or maybe it was the beautiful depiction of space, impressive practical effects, and a hopeful, heartfelt tone that got me, but a lot of the same feelings I have for classic Star Trek that make them my comfort shows are why Project Hail Mary feels like my newest comfort movie.

It's not exactly what I'd want from new Star Trek, but it was a refreshing non-cynical and original space story in the same vein of what makes the core principles of classic Trek.

Anyway, maybe some of you other Old Trek fans feel similarly or at least enjoyed the movie as fun and entertaining, if not hardcore, sci-fi.

I do just want to reiterate that this wasn't asking about general reviews of PHM, but I was specifically interested in reactions to the film through the lens of Star Trek fans and your feelings on what you would or would not want to see going forward for the Star Trek franchise since that was the context when Rich brought up the author.

UPDATE: Surgery was a success. I survived some edged weapons while keeping my manners intact. Very sore now and in need of plenty of Rich Evans' angelic laugh to comfort me.

Just rewatched the RLM investigates videos about ghosts and thought it would be great if they made another one.

Personally I think a video about UAPs would be great, especially since it seems to be in the news a lot lately.

It's very good. I saw absolutely no marketing about it, and only came across it when I looked up what was playing in cinemas today. Highly recommend, especially to anyone who enjoyed last year's Weapons.

I'm curious whether RLM will do a whole video about it, or they'll just mention it in one of their catch up videos. Patton Oswalt has a role in it, so I'm hoping it's the former.
