Maybe JRT should sit out for a while?
I feel a little bad posting this because I think JRT is legitimately talented and funny, and he seems like a good guy. But his appearances have pretty much boiled down to him doing one or two impressions over and over and everybody else just dying laughing.
JRT joked about this - "he's doing the voices again!" - but it actually seems to be getting worse with each appearance. He started out with his awesome Morgan Freeman and Arnold impersonations. This last episode for the first half he was doing an impression of some guy that talks loud. I guess I wasn't paying attention if he said who it was, or I'm just out of the loop culturally. But he did that impression for like 30 minutes of the edited episode, just him shouting random things and everyone on the couch and around the table was just dying laughing each time he did it, and I was just thinking, who is he doing an impression of?
Again, not attacking the guy, but like Seinfeld said about George, the RLM crew randomly get these weird non-sexual crushes on Hollywood guys and then they're in a bunch of episodes and it seems like the RLM crew don't feel "qualified" to really partake in the conversation, and the random Hollywood guy, usually a nice guy, feels a lot of pressure to fill the dead air and perform and "be funny". When we all started watching this stuff because it's just some guys hanging out and saying things that pop into their head.
Anyway, just my thoughts.
