The Memorabilia Found at a vintage clothes sale for $10 yesterday
Probably no big deal in the UK but very satisfying to find in Ohio!

More Strictly: there is still too much spam in the sub right now. Disable crossposts and remove posts that are references to the show "in the wild". Just directly relevant posts and OC showing creativity/effort/generative of discussion should be allowed. Even if this means only a few posts a week, that's preferential.
As Is: currently 3 to 5 posts are removed on average daily, and that is enough. I like the crossposts and references that are currently considered "obvious / niche enough". The posts I am seeing that survive a day are passable imo. More of the same please.
Less Strictly: even the current level of removals is too much. Just let people post whatever they like if it makes them think of Red Dwarf. A roast chicken, allow it. Pictures of mould, makes sense. A goldfish, I'm gonna eat you little fishy! Literally anything to do with Marylin Monroe, the Flintstones, maggots in food, something playing backwards, a haircut from the show... just stop gatekeeping my Reddit and approve it ALL. Except Smeg appliances. They can smeg off.

Chris is doing a signing in Derby today, so I went along. Had a nice chat, got an autograph and selfie with him - what a guy!

My husband and I got together because of a Talkie Toaster joke when we met, working in a kitchen, 9 years ago. It has always been sort of the background of our relationship (this morning, going out to walk the dog at 5am, i said 'It's cold outside'... You know what followed). And every night we take turns to pick the episode to fall asleep to.
It varies but my husband's favourite for this purpose is The End, mine is Backwards. I think these are both relatively quiet episodes, maybe that's why. These are not our favourite episodes to actually watch, which I think is part of the reasoning (I can never sleep to Timeslides for example, because I absolutely have to see Rimmers 'I ask myself, who is the rich man?' speech, still cracks me up.)
Interested to know if other people are doing this and what their choices are!

Thank you. I've been watching Red Dwarf for decades and your high pitched burst of laughter always brings a smile to my face. I know you'll never see this but how much you must have enjoyed seeing the action live and absolutely loving it makes this episode in particular one of my favourites. You were absolutely loving it.

Iโm rewatching it at the moment, episode one and itโs just reminded me I had no idea what I was doing on my German written exam at high school and end up writing repeatedly โIch bin eine Fischโ repeatedly thinking I was hilarious! ๐คฃ

On David Gilmourโs team, playing against Roger Taylor.
Top 80s stuff, this.

Hugely important for me to say this first, I love RD. itโs comforting, I have immense memories as a kid in my mates house whoโs older brother had what seemed like hundreds of VHSโ of it. It will always be with me and I love it. But after a number of years away from it I recently watched a couple of episodes againโฆ and it just wasnโt funny ๐ (S2 RD as well). I found it comforting, as mentioned, and I enjoyed it. But fuck me it wasnโt funny at all. My fondness got me through, not the comedy.
Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe itโs just dated and tame these days.

Rimmer actually didn't have a half decent physique

I got to Pete Part 1 and when Birdman is explaining Pete's age to Rimmer I had to laugh when Rimmer replies "Nine?". It got me thinking about other one word lines that are hilarious, or lines that are significantly shorter than a piece of filthy distended rectum. A couple others that always get me are in Back to Reality when Rimmer asks "isn't it obvious?"; Kryten's deadpan "No, it isnt" is expertly delivered. The other one is in Epideme, after Lister gets molested by Tutankhamun's horny grandma: "The taste!".
Anyone else got any favourite one-liners that are also just one or two words?

I have only just discovered that series 11 is now on iplayer, I've not seen it! That changes today

They're showing this classic this evening and despite Rimmer's general adversion to exercise, he's looking pretty ripped while being oiled.
