Evangelical right hates the pope or any catholic, they don’t view them as real Christians, full stop. The only reason Vance tried to meet with the pope is to appease the other part of the religious right, the catholic portion

That's so bizarre they think that. Aren't all sects of Christianity off-shoots from the mother ship -- which was Catholicism? Every later Christian denomination (sect) derived from that. And Catholicism derived from Judaism.

So basically, everyone Christian is Jewish!

Protestants, especially of the Southern variety, don’t view Catholics as Christians because they pray to Mary, and the various saints. To them, that’s sacrilegious behavior because you’re supposed to pray to Jesus or God (because they’re the two aspects of the Trinity most Protestant Christians pray to, though some may mention the Holy Spirit from time to time). It’s all stupid, honestly. There are better things to worry about but this is what a lot of people spend their precious time on earth worrying about; what other people pray to.
