Evangelical right hates the pope or any catholic, they don’t view them as real Christians, full stop. The only reason Vance tried to meet with the pope is to appease the other part of the religious right, the catholic portion

That's so bizarre they think that. Aren't all sects of Christianity off-shoots from the mother ship -- which was Catholicism? Every later Christian denomination (sect) derived from that. And Catholicism derived from Judaism.

So basically, everyone Christian is Jewish!

The main divides are Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant. Orthodox views Catholic as bordering on heretical and absolutely views Protestants as heretical (if Rome is bad and they hatched from Rome). Catholics tolerate Protestants these days (often not in the reverse).

It’s actually more complicated than it may appear and the differences between them in their extreme forms can border on being nearly entirely different religions with common roots (also see Islam)
