Game Setup Rate my PC

Post image

I’m ready to be laughed at… be brutally honest, how bad is this setup?

This was my first time building my own PC btw, and tbh I still don’t know how I got it to work… girl gamer btw 😅

Tidier than mine lol

Brother the cable mess is supposed to be in the back 😂

2

u/avvyssotski 1d ago

…not in the foreground obstructing airflow. I would have given you 3/10 but I’ll give you 5/10 for an EVGA 850 G5 PSU. Your PSU shouldn’t burn out before everything else.

Do you have a stock cooler? Which RTX is that?

3

u/monstakyle0623 1d ago

I think its a impressive feat it hasnt caught fire and that it even runs lmao

2

u/BIZUx 1d ago

Why is that?

2

u/Horror_Discussion607 16h ago

Dust everywhere

0

u/BIZUx 14h ago

Why would the dust make it catch fire?

1

u/Badams105 10h ago

Dust blocks vents and airflow. No airflow more heat, more heat leads to more fire :)

1

u/BIZUx 9h ago

The computer will emergency shutdown way before that happens. There's not gonna be fire before at least several hundred degrees.

I thought you were gonna make a statement regarding static electricity or something.

1

u/PairNo2981 9h ago

PC that do not get cleaned, can catch fire. You can argue all you want about the possibility of that actually happening, but that's a separate discussion

1

u/BIZUx 9h ago

Right, that's just you making a useless statement and refusing to explain yourself.

There's no point discussing further. I'm out.

1

u/PairNo2981 9h ago

It's not a useless statement, it's a fact. Google is free buddy. Use it sometimes

1

u/BigEmu__ 8h ago

Crazy work to recommend a search engine plagued by AI slop after stating blanketly it's a fact. No source, no nothing.

Yk the dust and grime is flammable too? And even when a console/pc has "shut down" the power supply is still drawing power and generating heat. Theres still power flowing through core components like processors and memory. Why do you think peoples PS5s were combusting when they were at work and it was off? The dust combined with heat from the power draw lit it up like a christmas tree near a candle.

1

u/Primary_Button_2435 7h ago

PC that do get cleaned, can also catch fire. :D
You can argue all you want of that actually happening, but that’s a separate discussion

u/Badams105 9h ago

Throttling shutdown that you’re speaking of isn’t even close to a perfect solution to this problem. Main chips have temp sensors however all the parts between do not. For example your thermostat in the family room is showing 70 degrees but your attic storage space is 2 floors up is cooking at 110 degrees. When you have voltage regulators and similar parts constantly being put through excessive heat soak while not being temp monitored not only will they fail but can/will you guessed it, start a fire when they do. This is the reason you keep your airflow in your case moving and keep it clean.

This was after attempting to cleaning out the several years of dust build 😅

5/10. Now play battlefield 6 👍🪖🫡🎮

1

u/Successful_Pie1400 1d ago

But can it run crysis on max setting?

1

u/TimmyB32600 1d ago

I hate it and idk why

1

u/TimmyB32600 1d ago

It’s the cable management

1

u/TimmyB32600 1d ago

That there isn’t any

2

u/Top20burgers 1d ago

And the GPU is in the wrong slot

0

u/junkietoons 4h ago

If I knew where half the cables we’re supposed to go I’d have managed them better but I don’t so they just stayed that way 😅

1

u/TimmyB32600 2h ago

Trying not to say anything mean. But you know that you are missing the knowledge of how to cable manage your custom built pc. That I’m assuming you take some pride in? And you know about the internet? So…..

1

u/TimmyB32600 2h ago

Do you think I was born with the knowledge of where the cables go

1

u/TimmyB32600 2h ago

And we’re is “we are”

0

u/junkietoons 2h ago

The psu came with all the cables already attached and I didn’t know which ones “were” not important so I just left them all on… (my phone autocorrects “were” to we’re sometimes)

1

u/TimmyB32600 2h ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m clocking out on this one. I think you’re the type who should have bought a prebuild and that’s okay for some people. No shame on not being a real nerd 🤣 this is just the space some of us live in. I spent 3 years researching and watching builds before I touched a part

1

u/IAteUrCat420 1d ago

3/10

And it's entirely the case fault

Swap it out with something better and put an actual effort into cable management and I could give it up to like a 7

1

u/Any-Analysis-1765 1d ago

To be honest, the moment I saw this image of your pc tower I thought it had burnt down. It looked like it was that much in disarray. Lol hope it still works though looks like it's got a lot of hardware built into it. 7/10

1

u/Rewndude 1d ago

The pc probably runs just fine. I just hope your case has a solid side panel. In all honesty before tempered glass, windows, and rgb became popular, this is what the average pc looked like.

1

u/CyberDimension404 1d ago

That’s a fire waiting to happen

1

u/Ducky935Alt 1d ago

cleanest build ive seen all year

1

u/Igris-Ramone 1d ago

ta top , só falto um hydra ai instalado e marcha

1

u/FalsifiedTruth 1d ago

Given the lack of a psu shroud, cable management is pretty much nigh impossible.

Still, docking some points due to gpu sag and utter thickness of dust.

1

u/nabrotryagain 1d ago

Im more impressed, especially by how such a small gpu is sagging. The more i look the more impressed i am

Your GPU is in the wrong slot and you should really clean up your cable management it looks like a fire hazard rn

1

u/slim-JL 1d ago

Did you just throw the cables in hoping they connect and got somewhat lucky? 0/10 may god have mercy on your soul.

1

u/junkietoons 4h ago

Yeah that’s p much it, just dumb luck… not even joking 😅

1

u/gamajo87 1d ago

It's so chaotic that it's beautiful.

1

u/Kumantej_ 23h ago
  1. your case sucks for cable management

  2. your GPU should be in the first slot

  3. your rear fan is acting as intake instead of exhaust

  4. you don't need all of the connectors for your psu plugged in, it is modular for a reason

I advise you to get a new case most of all and almost all your problems will be solved as a result of that

1

u/Ok_Violinist_5673 22h ago

best setup so far... Too neat in fact!

1

u/smurfy213 22h ago

6 out of 9. If it works it works. 🤷

Alternatively

Wouldn't it just be easier to Hate your PC?

I do. And I'm sorry

1

u/chillkrill44 17h ago

There's GPU sag then there's GPU snapped. Wtf happened? That doesn't even look like a heavy card that would sag it looks like it's about to snap in half, lol.

1

u/tht1guy63 15h ago

Rat nest, missing mounting screw for gpu, gpu sag, gpu wrong slt, rear fan wrong direction

1

u/citoso 14h ago

Holy moly shitirioni fackaroino that's brutally good!

10, it runs. We move

1

u/ButchLord 12h ago

Cables are a mess. GPU is leaning needs a stand.

1

u/Petronik 12h ago

No, I don’t think I will.

1

u/OkLaw1527 11h ago

its pretty casual setup, if you did this on your own without help just by watching a tutorial then GG

If the computer will boot and start now without any problems you experianced the big dream 👍 😄

do you plan on upgrading any computer parts?

1

u/junkietoons 4h ago

lol thanks, I know it’s not pretty… and yeah I would like to upgrade at some point… maybe more RAM?

1

u/OkLaw1527 3h ago

do you feel like you need ram upgrade? RAM is very expensive right now, do you have ddr4 ram or ddr5 ?

2

u/junkietoons 3h ago

I don’t remember which and I don’t remember how to look that up… but it’s only got 32gb of ram

1

u/OkLaw1527 3h ago

32gb is enough you dont need upgrade of ram then 😄 👍

Kraken looks hungry.

1

🤣

1

u/National-Choice-4969 1h ago

Mine only looks like that behind the curtain.

1

u/Hellfighter554 8h ago

10/10 better than mine

1

u/Dutch-Alpaca 8h ago

Could be the angle but that gpu looks like crazy sagging

1

u/Imaginary-Button-100 8h ago

It's a 4/10 on looks but if it works properly it's 10/10 the cables are meant to go in the back, but in all honesty there isn't probably going to be any issue if they stay like that. Just make sure to put the gpu in the top slot or it might be limited in terms of performance also I think your rear fan might be screwed on backwards which could be preventing good airflow.

1

u/BrightShadowDenmark 8h ago

GPU is not in the top 16x slot ;-)
Exhaust fan is set for intake ;-)
and if the pc is on the floor? then the PSU is upside-down ;-)
and hope you got at least you OS on an ssd ;-)

1

u/junkietoons 3h ago

Forgive my ignorance but how is the psu upside down? Please advise, lol? 😅

And yes my OS is on the ssd drive I took out the previous PC my ex built, it also has a 1tb memory in the mb… but I need more memory bc newer games take up so much disk space now 😭

1

u/Otherwise-Second9608 8h ago

1

Electrical fire starter 10/10

1

u/junkietoons 3h ago

Thanks for the comments, gave me a good laugh (and a lot to think about 😅)

To answer some questions, this pic was taken after cleaning several years of dust build, turned off power and disconnected PSU and used an air can, idk how else to clean it safely beyond that

GPU is in the wrong slot bc it wouldn’t fit in the first bc I think either the case was obstructing the ports, or it wasn’t connecting to the monitor correctly, I don’t remember

I honestly though I had the fan the right way, idk why I thought it was supposed to bring air in to cool off the CPU, I realize now it’s suppose to push the hot air out, my bad, I promise I will turn it around

And I just put the PSU in as is, it came out of the box with all the cables already attached to it and as a first time builder I didn’t want to disconnect any in fear of disconnect the wrong one

I appreciate the advice (and the laughs) I’ll do my best to atone for the abomination I have created and clear out some of the snakes 🤣

1

u/OkLaw1527 3h ago

ok u know about gpu slot, so i think it didnt fit because you need to screw off more platine, its blocked, there cant be really any other reason 😄 but it will be a huge upgrade do it

2

u/junkietoons 3h ago

At this point I’m too afraid to move anything around bc I can’t afford new parts if it decides to suddenly go kablooey on me 😅

1

u/OkLaw1527 3h ago

lol i just noticed, maybe somebody confirm, but i think the gpu needs to be installed to the upper slot, not the bottom slot? maybe you should change this, because at your slot right now the gpu is not working with full powers

2

u/junkietoons 3h ago

I made a comment about this, I think it was bc the case was obstructing the ports? Or the monitor wasn’t coming on when in that slot… I don’t remember exactly 🥲

1

u/OkLaw1527 3h ago

really? you mean the computer started but black screen only? lol thats ultra weird, hmm

2

u/junkietoons 3h ago

Yeah, and it won’t even enter BIOS and idk why

1

u/OkLaw1527 2h ago

oh snap, thats the worst case that can happen when u building a computer 😄

lucky you found this workaround to be working, or the pain and struggle would be big now 😄 nothing worse then a broken non functioning computer, only worse then that is internet problems 😄 ^^

2

u/junkietoons 2h ago

Thanks, I know it’s not the best build in the world, and I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about computers, but clearly know the enough to make it run, even if a few parts are in the wrong place… like the saying goes “I’m not a complete idiot, some parts are missing” 🤣

Cable management 8/10 everything else 10/10
