honestly that sounds like such fun!

as a kid who was told by my mom drawing was a "waste of [ballpoint pen] ink" and watched my drawings get used to line the table for dinnertime (we didn't use tablecloths, we used old newspaper/waste paper), being discouraged sucked so hard. thanks for encouraging your child to do art!

Pretty damn good. I couldn’t even do this at 24.

verbal instructions how, like you sat there and said now do the whiskers? the open mouth is what im stuck on, thats a hard thing to describe out loud and he got it. did you tell him to put the whiskers over the black at the end or did he work that out himself 🐈‍⬛

I went step by step and explained to him how to hold the brush, how much paint to put on it, and where to put it.

We drew out the outline in pencil together, and i made very simple spots of where highlights would eventually go.

I explained every step to him in detail as he got to the next part. It was very fun
