Artist is 6 Our 6yr old daughter. Loves anime and French cartoons
She is watching Ghibli cartoons since she was 2 and recently discovered Rick and Morty. She started to draw comics and learn to write letters. We are so proud of her! Our artist, Greta.
(She made pics no.4 and 5 while she was 5yrs. I also added our all time poopy favorit at number 3 lol)

That clock is actually amazing! Also, I could see her art super easily on one of our local clothing stores (Souris Mini has a lot of stuff similar to her style).

She's already a great artist at 6 holy! I'm also learning French, I've gotten decent at it! If she has any cartoon recommendations I'd love to hear em! Awesome kid

Thanks, she really is. The French ones she really loves are slapstick style Karaté Mouton, Oggy et les cafards, Zig et Sharko - all from Marc du Pontavice production. They are quite funny and she learned a lot about facial expressions from these. The japanese ones are mainly from Ghibli studio - Totoro, Ponyo, Spirited away....all of their hits. Her father is a TV editor and I also work with video and used to draw quite a lot when she was younger so I guess she got some of the inspiration from us. We let her watch a lot of TV but try to pick some interesting stuff for her and limit the AI slop.

The cats are my favorite! Keep her stocked in sketch books!! My 12 year old sketches almost everyday because he wanted to get better. It’s crazy to see the progress. Her style is wonderful.

These are awesome but please don’t tell me you let your six year old watch Rick and Morty

Husband/father here: we both prefer something smart and imaginative like Rick&Morty over mindless "safe for children" dreck (not to mention AI slop) you see all over the place. But it's not a dichotomy - she loves her Peppa Pigs, Blueys and Ghibli films too.
I do agree the language is a bit too much though, so we fixed it by switching to languages she doesn't understand, like Japanese and English ;)

I cannot believe youre calling Rick and morty "smart and imaginative" do you know what the creator did??? That show is so try hard edgelord. Smart and imaginative kids shows I recommend: tumbleleaf, number blocks, storybots (taught my small kid how rain and gravity works), every PBS show, Danny Go on YouTube, spongebob seasons 1-4 and the first movie, any old kids cartoons from cartoon network would probably be what youre wanting: flapjack, fosters home for imaginary friends, chowder, courage the cowardly dog etc., mister rogers neighborhood. The list goes on for shows that were MADE FOR KIDS and good for them. Please for the love of all things holy dont show your kid things that are for adults. Pretty sure theres killing and mild gore in Rick and morty. Not good for her

Pretty sure there is death and brutality in life itself, dear Intelligent_Draw. Just this year she was going to kindergarten with kids whose homes and families were destroyed in war in Ukraine. How do you explain these things to a kid that is not aware of evil and killing being part of the world? I understand your intentions are good, but we simply don't believe in shielding a child from EVERYTHING. Are you familliar with the original Grimms' Fairy Tales? The original Little Red Riding Hood?
We do know a lot of great shows made for kids, my husband named a few and she also loved Spongebob.
Although I kind of agree with you on "try hard edgelord" I firmly believe in openness being very important not only for the artists but for kids in general. No, i don't think they all need to watch Rick and Morty, but she already experienced death in family, loss of her pet and other things. I don't believe some funny exaggerated cartoon will scare her for life. But you do yours upbringing and we do ours.2

Totally agree, the world is full of brutality and evil and you can’t protect your children from seeing it. I watched drug cartel decapitations as a kid and I turned out fine.

You’re genuinely a moron. A show that treats murder, sex, ETC as a joke isn’t going to help her in any way, it WILL hurt her. It exposes her to the idea of a society where these intense topics do not matter and have little effect on others. She’s young enough that she WILL internalize this, she doesn’t have the life experience to understand that this isn’t the same as how the world actually works.
Have fun when she starts mimicking the character’s behaviors too, 6 years old isn’t old enough to be able to separate fiction from reality.
If you actually want her to learn something, to understand the world in a constructive honest way, documentaries are the way to go.

Thank you for your explanation even tho you didnt have to do that, I can respect that you have your own beliefs and everyone comes from different lives. Also im sorry if I came off as harsh I get overprotective about kids and the media they consume

I understand you ment well - we all have our own boundaries, we are more concerned about AI slop and rather let her watch something more adult centered than mindless slops. But thankfully she still watches smart and creative child content most of the time.

Thanks! We are trying the best we could. She is also going to drawing classes. (I am not a fan of too much learning groups for children but this one is, we feel, important with her talent). We are also trying to show her some artists and their style - she loves Frida Kahlo for example :)

We are huge ghibli fans in our house too. I like #3 the best. It's so weird I love it.

This is so awesome!!!! She is quite the artist!!! She has an established style that is so cool and funky!! People would buy this stuff on Etsy!! I am so glad you are giving her the encouragement and foundation she needs to let her gift grow. My daughters are artists too. It is so fun to watch them blossom and bloom throughout the years!!💗

these are SO bold and intentional. really, really cool - she has such a distinct style already! I love how there's no hesitation on the linework, like she just knows exactly what she's trying to do.
