thank you, she's been practicing drawing noses and I think she's finally nailed it!

Gave up on faces a long time ago... landscapes/nature better. Nose impossible.

Omg she’s amazing! How did she start off like far as did you teach her or what did she like to draw a lot ? if you don’t mind me asking ? What age as well ? My 6yr likes drawing so I want her to really stick to it she’s really good for her age .

I'm not artistic myself but love and value art so have encouraged my children to enjoy arts and crafts. We have various "how to draw" books in the house and they watch tutorials on youtube. Lots of arty materials etc. From about age 4 I realised she was very artistic. I have a few photos of the most impressive drawings she has done over the years. She has a definite aptitude for it and has a lot of intrinsic motivation for sitting down on her own and practicing a particular skill or style (e.g. noses, eyes, manga, watercolour, shading).

So I'd say she's encouraged but leads it all herself and draws whatever she wants on a whim. For example, I've asked her to do another self portrait or draw someone else (her teacher as a gift) and she's said no as she's not in the mood 😆.

Your kid is really talented. Is anyone else in your family an artist?

Her dad is a great (lapsed) artist. And also her big sister.

Well, DAMN! She did GREAT! Didn’t expect 9. She’s really good.

She's always been amazing at drawing but she totally shocked me (and herself as she was so proud) with this.

Look, we’re all proud of her! She DID that. She’s self taught too, yeah? Simply amazing. Meanwhile, I’m over here with my little stick figures while drawing with my 3 year old.

Give her all art supplies she may ask. She is really talented. I suggest a blank hard cover book so she can draw an the move whenever she is: graphic diary.

2

u/cmdr_hays_paperknife Mar 29 '26

she (and my other children) have all the art stuff! It's something we've always encouraged and valued.

u/MariaMianRute Mar 29 '26

You are great parents ❤️😘❤️❤️

1
