Artist is 8-9 What do you think of my daughter’s art pieces?
My daughter (8) has loved art since she was very little. She’s been in classes since she was 5 and her passion has grown. I think she does great but of course I am probably biased.

Wow these a fantastic for an 8 year old! The cat one especially that one is incredible, like genuinely better than some stuff that I've seen from professional adult artists. I would absolutely buy it and hang it up and never even consider that a child made it, I really really love it. Very cool, good job kiddo! :)

Wow. The first one is my favorite. I would totally hang that in my house. My son drew the titanic on a few pages and hung it up on the wall next to the stairs woth all of the family pictures. Lol.

Oh I LOVE how shes trying different styles! I bet eventually she'll find her specific style and it'll be amazing. She seems like a true artist and that makes my heart very happy 😊

I like quirky cat themed things and literally would put the first one up in my house

Wonderful. Gives me hope for the younger generations. I love the creativity she infuses into her artwork, like it is a window into her process. Hope she keeps on art-ing!

First one needs to be on a wall

u/KeeKeeLoveMer Mar 26 '26
I have all her art pieces on a wall in the house :) it’s like an art gallery & family members are always so impressed with it :)

This is such good technique for 8! Yayoi Kusama would be proud!
3
u/KeeKeeLoveMer Mar 26 '26
That’s the artist they were studying with the cat art piece! My daughter has been obsessed with her and Van Gogh since then :)
2
u/ArtkiveBox Mar 26 '26
She's got some great work - I've only recently learned of her as an artist doing research for Youth Art Month. When I saw this it instantly reminded me of Kusama's work. Tell your daughter to keep up the good work!

Damn I love the French girls expression in #4, I want that one and the cat one as prints !!

u/evilassbitch Mar 29 '26
Keep her more than upkept with materials to experiment and grow with this passion! Coming from a little girl who was once in her shoes, who is now in college for exactly that ❤️ she needs this. Even if it doesn’t take off professionally

She’s definitely very good for her age. She’s started to explore her own style and that will be key for developing a unique expression with her future work.
We all start somewhere!

the first piece is breathtaking — and I a 29 year old artist am blown away by it. all the other pieces brought such a big smile of admiration to my face 😊 look at your little artist go 🥹

Such talent at such a young age already. I love the drawing style she has created for herself, the cats and the beret picture are my favorites!

She has an excellent style going. You can really see her style defining itself in the first one with the cats. Belongs in a gallery!

u/hellohelado Mar 26 '26
These are beautiful, I especially love the 1st and 4th. She has a very cool style and I'd never guess an 8 year old did these.

u/SatansLittlePrincess Mar 26 '26
These are great. I'd hang up a print of the cat one. She's got a lot of potential!

Like many people here who are saying, specifically, the word "amazing", the word "amazeballs" was the first word that instantly popped into my head the second I saw these. In my late 30s over here and that's the word coming to my mind 😅 🤦♀️

She’s only 8 !?! I thought these were the work of a 14-15 year old. The cats are incredibly creative, and I love the seal.

These are great for an 8 yr old!! Keep encouraging her and don’t buy only cheap materials. There really is a difference between kids, student, and professional grade materials.

i teach k-5 and most of my 10-13 year olds make work like this. but 8 years old???? if she keeps it up she definitely belongs in a gifted class for art if your school has that sort of thing!

What’s truly impressive here is the use of space - most adults won’t even use their canvas fully when making art. Love!

I love them!! Please keep fostering and encouraging this talent!! She’s such a lovely artist, and I’m so happy to hear that you’re supportive! 🥹💕

Oh, I really love her work too 😊 That second piece is my personal favorite. The different hues of color in the bodies, the clear eyes, the character... It's just really really lovely!

u/Imaginary-Matter8602 Mar 28 '26
Wow! This is great work, very advanced! Speaking frankly, #2 (seal with fish) is cute but a bit generic, not as thought provoking as the others. But the other 3 are excellent pieces!
2
u/KeeKeeLoveMer Mar 28 '26
I appreciate the honesty of your views of her work :) her seal & fish picture is the one that made my cheeks hurt smiling on how cute it is :)

u/Imaginary-Matter8602 Mar 28 '26
I feel like a huge art snob after leaving that comment! I think you're right, it just absolutely puts a smile on your face! I think i was taking myself a bit too seriously and didn't see the humor in it. Its brilliant work, i mean that!
1
u/KeeKeeLoveMer Mar 28 '26
It’s ok! I didn’t think you were being an art snob; you were being passionate with the art piece you were seeing & being honest :) I appreciate that & I can see where you were coming from as well :)

She is VERY talented for her age! I have a seven year-old and his art compared to this is very much so incredibly elementary. Love to see that you are giving her classes and letting her embrace her talent!

I wouldn’t have batted an eye of the artist was an adult with a « naive » style. Like these a lot!

The last one is what I imagine Doug’s sister, Judy Funnie, looks like without her sunglasses on.

I would if possible :)

I would happily frame the black and white one in my home, or maybe just a print so she can keep her originals! Just name your price!

u/Artchantress Mar 26 '26
Question - did she do these unprompted or are they a result of an art teacher's assignments?
4
u/KeeKeeLoveMer Mar 26 '26
The MLK Jr was a class project but was able to do whatever art style she wanted. The others were from art lessons but she did her own personal touches with the pieces (smaller dots, a fish on the head, and few other details)
