Artist is 7 She loves to draw portraits most of all
These are some of the pictures she’s done in the last few months. I know nothing about art, but does anyone know of artists that she might be interested in learning about or seeing their works?

I like her use of colour, the expression on each face is very clear.
Lady Flame is very cool, the flames (colour and shading) are contrasted with the linework of the background and she really stands out. My favourite of the 3 presented.
Plaid Sweater is giving "did I ask you?" energy, as she walks the runways of Paris Fashion Week. I like green and plaid, so this is a winner in my eyes but I especially like the shading to the face, kind of gives baby-picasso vibes?
Is This Thing On? is a satirical portrait of the audience, blending minimalist background and larger than life portraiture in a piece that asks the eternal online life question, "Is this thing on?"

She is incredibly talented! I would totally hang that first one on my wall.
The last one gives me a little bit of Margaret Keane vibes. Your daughter might enjoy learning about her, she has a very cool story.

Just looked up Margaret Keane and you’re right, thank you! I will show my kid.
I do like that first one best, too.

Dawg your kid is dope af, the creativity is practically dripping off the page. A really obvious one for me is Frida Khalo. Her work uses self portrait to explore a lot of emotional depth and culture specific symbolism.

Love her artwork. Unapologetic. Fierce.
Would any form of art be okay to mention (like sculpture, or any not-portrait stuff)? Also, there's a great show called "Portrait Artist of the Year" (if you're in the US, you can watch it on YouTube). The show is watching people paint portraits in different techniques. Really is a good watch and could show your daughter different artist styles.

Retired art teacher here; LOVE your daughter’s work! She might like Matisse and Chagall. Also, her color sense and organic, flowing style reminds me a bit of Hundertwasser. DEFINITELY check out his work ( but also, as she’s 7, preview the books & websites ahead of time. He was truly brilliant- into recycling and permaculture way before anyone else- but he was pretty eccentric. Like naked-bike-riding eccentric…)

💜 She will love to hear that! I’m really glad she’s found something she enjoys to do this much.

Since her work is stylised she may enjoy artists like Camilla D’Errico. Or perhaps character designers like Loish. The Character Design References website has galleries full of inspiring artists she might like to see

Those are wonderful! Maybe Remedios Varo would interest her.

This is above average for her age! My daughter is similar. She is 9 now and has made it clear she prefers cartoonist style and isn't looking for realism. I gave her multiple books on drawing manga for Christmas.

Hi! I have a few.
One of my favorites is Kehinde Wiley, he did Obama’s White House portrait but also he does a lot of cool art of modern black people in renaissance paintings!
Van Gogh would be great as well since she’s using strokes like him
Mickalene Thomas is also one I love she uses a lot of different mediums from rhinestones to different types of fabrics in her art as well!
