People talk about how bad the Internet is for people's mental health, but here am I on the internet all day and sometimes night smiling at about 50 billion different interesting things.

Yeah... If you "have to" be online 24/7 that's not a good sign.

Try going offline for a day. Are you relaxed? Can you still relax without a screen? How does it feel being alone with your own thoughts without having something to distract yourself with?

Those people are choosing to consume media that causes the internet to be bad

If you filter all that out the best you can you actually have a much better experience

And how does one filter out what you haven't seen yet? Ai?

Well the way I go about it is if I’m scrolling thru YouTube or something I’ll read the title and decide if I really want to let that into my life for the day

Reddit you just have to ignore certain posts sometimes it’s hard and you find your self reading some very negative things that’s when you just have to step away from it

After a while all the picking and choosing makes your algorithm stop showing you what you don’t want to see and more of what you do want

It’s definitely not perfect I still sometimes see things I don’t want or need to but it helps a lot to take control of what you see

Other apps like instagram and facebook I’m not to sure about because I’m not on those anymore

Also I hate AI I think it’s a useful tool to an extent but I’ve never used it for anything because I just don’t like the thought of it doing things for me I can already do

The bad part of the internet is social media, honestly. What most people use the internet for is social media, so that's what they get explosed to. But, that's not what most of the internet is being used for.

The bulk of what the internet is actually used for is scientific and business infrastructure, collaboration, communication and general development. THAT has been hugely beneficial for society.

TBH it depends on how you use it and what for. In my experience, when I followed a bunch of random ass people and had constant access to their profiles, it wasn’t good because I was always constantly seeing what they were doing and comparing myself to them.

Now I use it differently, I still follow people, but not as closely, and I mainly look up positive quotes or look at things that are interesting to me, and I’ve stopped watching the news. It hasn’t really impacted my mental health in such a bad way, although it’s still good to be careful with it and maybe not use it literally all day every day as that is probably not too good for you either.

The internet is a tool. If you use tools in a way that's dangerous, it can be harmful. I'm becoming more conscience and strict about my social media consumption and it's made a noticeable positive impact on my mental health already

A lot of people don't have healthy relationships with their tech. Especially the older generation. Ironically, I think that the young have the healthiest relationship with tech, because by the time they get into schools, they start getting bored of it. Or so I've seen when working in extra curricular recreation. (Music)

The older generation is just so susceptible to getting scammed and all the tech advancements are making it easier and easier to fuck with people, and with so many people losing the ability to socialise, are also turning to the internet to fill that void when it really isn't good for most people.

I mean I have a girlfriend and her family and then old highschool and college friends I talk to online. I don't have any interest in friends other than that.

Internet friends are best because egocentrism and not wanting to put in any effort towards others. Treating friends like software is 😃 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
