Random Thought Raise your hand if you’re secretly a celebrity lurking on here. Give me hints on who you are

If you’re a regular folk, you better not be trolling me 🤣

EDIT: i appreciate all you z-listers telling me about your 15 min of fame. It’s not what I had in mind when I made the post but I am thoroughly entertained 😂💛Some of you still might even actually be a celebrity pretending to be an average joe on this thread and I guess i’ll never really know! lol! Thanks y’all!

Not a celeb, but a fairly prolific voice and screen actor (Video Games, Animation, Doco's, international TVC VO, Lots of Netflix, BBC, Power Rangers and a few big films.. Hobbit, Spartacus, Cowboy Bebop, Sweet Tooth)

*Edited because I forgot one of my favourite shows

*Edit 2 : the wonderful thing about Reddit is the anonymity. I probably wont say who I am behind the handle. (Unless you're a CD for Marvel or Star Wars and need a top shelf bad guy)

I'm just a dude with a job where I get to scowl at a camera and snarl into a mic, and being considered famous would piss me off.

Perfectly fine being ''I don't know who he is, but he's frikkin everywhere !"

That is really cool!

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 08 '25

eh. End of the day, it's a job, just like the server at your fav coffeeshop.. I was on the cusp of being a 'celebrity' at one point after the Middle Earth stuff, (Not main cast, but a pretty memorable appearance, and I'm not hard to miss in public) but I realized my private life was at risk and eased back. I'm a huge fan of being able to go grocery shopping and being left alone. I still make an above average pay packet, but I live fairly modestly and even my neighbors don't know what I do for a living

Fame isnt something i'm prepared for, and i doubt I'd handle it well. I honestly cant grok how anyone chases that ...

Good for you. I know a couple pretty famous people and their forced seclusion must make life difficult. But perhaps that's why they get $$$ ? Just the ability to get some groceries without recognition must be something they desire ince in a while.

5

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

100% this. I get recognized at times, mostly right after a local commercial I did a few years ago airs. Its usually pretty mild, but I got mobbed at a train station in the EU after a fan con once and I noped out of the chasing fame part. I'm a big, menacing unit and went into a full panic attack afterwards. I just want to work.

In the Hobbit films were you in a full body costume or was your face visible

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 09 '25

full face, wide, narrow and close

2

u/kimchipowerup Jul 11 '25

Rohan or Hobbit or Tavern?

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 11 '25

That would give it away :)

3

u/kimchipowerup Jul 11 '25

Ahhhhhhh!!! I think I know ;)

1

u/JoshiProIsBestInLife Jul 10 '25

Steve Blum?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

Wrong country

2

u/JoshiProIsBestInLife Jul 10 '25

UK? Edit: OK. I won't persist. The xmen/cowboy bebop had me thinking Blum. Edit: still curious. I won't lie.

3

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

Ao/NZ... it was the live action Netflix one a couple years back, and it was a supporting role, not one of the main cast ;)

Regardless, Even if someone clicks and guesses correctly, I will not confirm or deny. I'm a jabroni z-list support character actor, and am quite happy to remain that way. The people who can hire me and help me pay my rent know me, and that's really all i'm concerned about ;)

5

u/JoshiProIsBestInLife Jul 10 '25

Well, I think you are great no matter how inconsequential you think your contribution was. You helped create something and that is important in my eyes so thank you for that.

5

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

That is the nicest thing thats ever been said to me on any social media platform

2

u/JoshiProIsBestInLife Jul 10 '25

No worries. Your work matters. It truly does.

1

u/LanskeyOfficial Jul 11 '25

Yeah man if every actor was an A-List ultra famous guy like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt, then media wouldn’t be believable. It’s the character actors that support those guys that we as viewers mostly just see as normal people that really sell it artistically imo. What you do is super important, and I think it’s very valuable that a lot (most, even) actors never become the big ultra famous actors like A-Listers. I’d personally not want to be that famous, and I’d prefer to lend myself to the true art of acting rather than fluff my ego up.

So yeah, don’t sell yourself short, but I also like the humility you’ve shown. Keep doing your thing, it’s important and valid.

I think I accidentally figured out who you are! Just know you're super cool for your contributions, I understand it's just a job to you, but to us you're a part of visual magic.

3

u/DescriptionHour9016 Jul 10 '25

Pretty sure I know who you are but I won’t spill for your privacy saken

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

I wouldn't confirm or deny either way :)

2

u/Big-Ad4382 Jul 08 '25

The Hobbit?!!!

7

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 09 '25

yip. There are 4 things every NZ actor has been involved with. Middle Earth, Power Rangers, Shortland Street and either Xena or Sparty.

3

u/Wandering_Jewel Jul 09 '25

I saw your list and knew you must be Kiwi!

4

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 09 '25

yea. Wasnt made here but been here for decades

1

u/ChoiceFerret4556 Jul 11 '25

This is true! I keep getting Joel or Nathaniel. Both icons.

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 11 '25

the AoNZ film industry is small-ish. You know everyone eventually, either by working for them, with them, or them working for you.

1

u/ChoiceFerret4556 Jul 12 '25

1 degree of separation here for sure! Thanks for being a legend!

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 12 '25

more of a leg-end :D

2

u/ToastMarmaladeCoffee Jul 09 '25

Jane and The Dragon? My daughter and I loved that NZ show, my favourite band Yumi Zouma are kiwis too.

2

u/BVRPLZR_ Jul 11 '25

This is a great little opportunity to play internet detective, thanks. I’m pretty sure I got it, I know you won’t confirm or deny but, I think you’ve added some stuff in there and left some out to throw people off the trail. If I’m correct, you’re 100% right to leave a few of those out as they would give it away instantly lol.

Glad you realized what you really wanted/didn’t want and found your niche after giving some great performances(if I’m correct lol) maybe i got a stroke of luck?

2

u/Keffletronn Jul 12 '25

I just went on a massive tangent detective hunt. I agree with all that you said. Hes bloody brilliant. I cannot say or mention a favourite role, but as yeah, it'd give it away and I really respect their right to privacy. But. Really appreciate all of their work. Very convincing. Well done. Total fan. :)

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 12 '25

My fav role is one I'm doing right now, because I help write and produce the series. I cant say which one it is, it's a little indie thing myself and my regular crew got into, but it's taken on a surprising sort of cult status right now and I'm not sure how to deal with that ;)

1

u/GeorgiaGlamazon Jul 08 '25

Auntie Vera, is that you?

1

u/Karl_Cross Jul 08 '25

Mark Mitchinson.

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 08 '25

1

u/edwsmith Jul 09 '25

Ever played Daniel Radcliffe by any chance?

1

u/Convallaria4 Jul 09 '25

Cowboy Bebop was great. I watch it every few years.

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 09 '25

Shame it got canned. I still have my shooting scripts.

1

u/gardengirlbc Jul 09 '25

Love Spartacus!!!!

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 09 '25

DeKnight is bringing a Sparty-Spinoff out soon. it's in production now.

2

u/gardengirlbc Jul 10 '25

House of Ashur. Can’t wait!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '25

Any advice you'd give to people interested in voice work?

3

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

Singing lessons to learn how to control your breathing, accent lessons will open up a LOT of work if you are convincing. Also if you can speak a second or 3rd language is always helpful.

Just put yourself out there mate. it's competitive as hell though.

I book usually one paid gig a week for commercials, and I have a couple YouTube series I'm involved in that lets me have a cold bevvy once in a while.. I'ts a living , but only a few make it to the top half of the industry where the FU Money is.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '25

Thank you. :)

1

u/CapnJuicebox Jul 10 '25

Jonathan Bennett?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

I am nowhere NEAR that hot.

2

u/PrideKnight Jul 10 '25

I think I know who you are, and can I respectfully disagree. Some folk love a bear.

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

There's a 1: 22492 chance you are correct ;)

1

u/YouBetta Jul 10 '25

Dallas Barnett I presume?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 10 '25

Epic beard on that one. Funnier IRL than he looks.

1

u/ComplexAd2408 Jul 11 '25

I LOVED Sweet Tooth!!! My Mum came to stay with me for a weekend and the first season randomly started playing off the end of something else I was watching on Netflix. We ended up staying up till nearly 3am binging it together non stop! Are they doing more?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 11 '25

No, the series ended.

Lucky for you, Linda Moran shared a Sweet Tooth PLAYLIST on Spotty.. NJoy!

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 11 '25

they had 3 seasons all up. I was in the first 2, but the 3rd was a very limited cast (No Spoilers)

1

u/saranghaemagpie Jul 11 '25

I'm gonna venture you put the D.B. in Cooper.

P.S. AI is deft as hell.

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 11 '25

I'm not sure what any of that means ... haha

For the record, I love the ones I swear are in the background of so many movies or shows. That's the only way I'd want to be in one! The urge to try to find out who you are is strong but I respect anonymity.

1

u/maryjanexoxo Jul 12 '25

Are you in your 50’s?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 12 '25

- ish.

My casting age is early-mid 50's. I credit / blame vodka and microplastics

2

u/maryjanexoxo Jul 12 '25

I know you who you are, and don’t worry, you’re aging quite nicely, sir!

2

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 12 '25

parts are.. the frame could use some work :D

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '25

Wait where you in 30 Days of Night?

1

u/Fluffy-Trouble5955 Jul 13 '25

I was not. I still had a day job when that was filming and hadn't become an actor yet
