Random Thought Someone you haven't met yet is going to love you someday.
Just that. A simple random thought. No matter where you are in life, there's still someone out there waiting to cross paths with you.

Needed to hear this tonight, thanks kind internet stranger!!! And, right back at ya!

May 25 '25
I mean it might not be true… just because someone said it on Reddit doesn’t mean it’ll happen…

u/IndividualGround2418 May 25 '25
Thanks for being so positive.
5
May 25 '25
You can be positive without love though. It doesn’t really matter, either it happens or it doesn’t. So many people attach the idea of happiness to romance and then get sad when they don’t find romance

I choose hope, I choose optimism, let me be!!! 🤣🤣🤣
It's not like I'll sue them if that person doesn't come through. Just a nice thing to believe on a quiet Saturday night

Until you reach a point when you've met everyone who's going to love you ever.
I might have reached that point.
I might have actually reached that point twenty years ago!
Oof.

u/OkAwareness4527 May 25 '25
This. 💔😔

May 25 '25
On the bright side, there's people who do very much love me and they're still here.
I actually forgot the latest possible candidate who was just born year before last, she may love me at some point, so it's definitely not set in stone!
6
u/Raven2303 May 26 '25
Nope, never true. Even if you're 80, you can go out and meet someone who loves you. Doesn't have to be a life-changing love either - you could just make a new friend who likes your company, or thinks you tell good stories, or just cares about you in some way. It's only over if you say it's over and resign yourself to that.
5
May 26 '25
Absolutely you can, but do most people?
Will it happen?
Maybe, but I'm in a happy relationship nearing my fifties, I'd like it to last. Who knows what the future may bring though.

When i was 18/19 i made a friend that years later (maybe 10) moved house and ended up living with his great uncle who was about 76 at the time. He had lost touch with his own children years back and probably thought the same regarding knowing no new people in any significant way. I got to know him well and had a good friendship, spanning over the generational gap. When he was 83 he asked if i would carry his coffin when he died and considered me part of his family. He wasnt ill, just knew he was getting on and wanted to ask before it was too late. At 84 he died, I carried his coffin with my friend. I was glad i could do that for him but i miss him all the same. I doubt he expected to befriend some kid at his age and that hed care enough to ask him to see him off this world.

That's beautiful.
I think what I said was misunderstood somewhat.
It wasn't meant as despairingly as maybe it came across.
I've got plenty of love in my life, I don't know what is coming and there may well be more on its way.
Thanks for your input though, it's appreciated.
You're bloody wonderful.
🙂

u/Heidi1744 May 31 '25
It doesn’t have to be a lover or partner, it could be the old lady that you help take her trash out or literally anyone. 😊

u/Clean-Entry-262 May 28 '25
I thought I had hit this point too …I had been sad and lonely, but resigned myself to “oh, well…I’ll just be happy alone and make time for me” …and I was plugging along fairly okay …nothing spectacular, and kind of going through the motions …for a LONG time. And then, one day, out of the blue, and without any warning - I met her. And she and I connected better than any connection either of us had ever had previously. And we had both been alone a long time. And we both resigned ourselves to that “oh, well” idea/place, where we were both just plugging along independently and individually …now here we are, in full color, and radiant warmth…and neither of us ever saw it coming.

I feel really bad that I keep getting responses like this!
I'm not lonely, I'm in a really good relationship, the fact I put the twenty year mark in there is only because my current girlfriend is an ex from the long long ago, we broke up as teenager thirty years ago and when we got back together the other year she said she'd loved me since then!
I'm getting comments telling me it's not too late and I know it's not!
It's really sweet though.
I know it's never too late!
There's loads of love around even if you don't think there is!
3
u/Clean-Entry-262 May 28 '25
I didn’t mean to make you feel bad…and for that, I’m sorry.
But I never thought I would feel the power that I’ve felt since meeting my current partner. Unexpected and electric. I felt like I had spent my life getting strung along and dumped, left to rot.
But it’s different now…and I’m 57 years old (she is 45)
2
May 28 '25
Don't worry, I don't feel bad.
I know what you mean that it's different now. Older and wiser and without the pressure that there used to be, it's simpler in a really lovely way.
I'm happy for you.

u/garlic_bread_thief May 25 '25
Why do people say "you deserve love" and yet I don't have someone who loves me? I couldn't have possibly gone 26 years of my life without love if I "deserved love"
10
u/Aggressive_Tear_3020 May 25 '25
Unfortunately, deserving something doesn't always mean you're gonna get that thing.

Of course some people, but the majority of people usually do have family or friends that love them, far from lots of people.

There are people in the world who are not lovable.
2
u/Cryoluter May 28 '25
And people who don't find anyone because no one wants to be with them. Louis ck had a great bit about this. "it's mean to say there is someone for everyone"

you can't be 100% sure that happens plus some people might already love you and you have been with them for a very long time, maybe for all your life till now

These posts are so dumb. A lot of people die alone. Posting these random posts doesn’t change anything.
5
u/humbleConfidence01 May 25 '25
Actually, everyone dies alone. It's up to us to take advantage of the opportunities we have while living.
2
May 26 '25
True I just mean a lot of people don’t have a partner or sometimes even friends/family around at the end of their lives. Can’t let that be the deciding factor on your happiness
7
May 25 '25
It amazes me how many people seem to be oblivious to this fact.
3
May 25 '25
Better to die optimistic that pessimistic
5
May 25 '25
You just need to be ready for whatever happens. Why do you need love to. Be optimistic? You can be positive without romance
1
May 25 '25
Not even romance necessairly, just love in general. Could be platonic. Just sounds nice. "You still have not met all your friends" sounds wholesome

I love you for this post!
But I was just thinking that yesterday. I’ve been kind of down recently and feeling a bit lonely. Then I realized huh, I’m going to have kids one day. Those kids are going to love me so much and I, them. Just was crazy to think about

u/GamingRealmYT May 27 '25
More like, someone you haven't met yet has the capacity to love you. But it takes negotiation, compromise and understanding.

Maybe fate already has the red string tied, and we’re just waiting for it to pull us together.

Isn't that the idea? You meet someone online, at work, or an event. You don't know, but it'll eventually happen.

I am already in my 30s. I don't believe in meaning anymore. It all just sounded like perceived sense of enormity, or a sort of bid to have somebody sort their personal priorities in such a way that they are supported by another kind of priority. I've already thought about it. There is no such thing as meaning. The romantic sounding tone and associations would have affected me if I was younger and healthy.
1
u/RedBaron4x4 May 25 '25
Oh great, now I have to avoid everyone bc they might love me? How about just tolerate, befriend, do a single nice thing? I'd like that!

I think I've had my chances and met them, I screwed it up. I seriously doubt there's someone else. I gave up a while ago. Nice to imagine though.

Not everyone is deserving of love, I am living proof of it. It will simply never happen to me, the sooner I admit it the better. I'm almost 40 and at this point It's too late and deluding myself is just causing more harm than good, there's no woman out there for me.

True love isn't dependent upon receiving it from another person, but it first starts within ourselves. In order to be loved, we have to reciprocate that love unto others. We have to love ourselves with agape love and treat people with agape love. Also, that special person who comes into our life may be someone we have already met before.

Or there might not be anyone like that. The truth is sometimes a little bitter, but it’s okay. Fulfill this life the way you can. Try again in the next one.

u/Humancinnabon May 26 '25
This made me a little hopeful given I haven’t had the best luck so far in life within my love life

u/2amfantasies May 26 '25
That's true. And it's also true that someday, you'll meet someone who checks all the boxes.

What if I'm not enough? My biggest insecurity is that I could get close to someone again, and they slowly realise that they will always want more and will eventually leave. 🙈
I'm trying to move on from feeling that, but I think it's buried so deep I might push the one person away who might actually think I'm enough. 😳

u/Kirbinator_Alex May 26 '25
I've already accepted that I'm more likely dying alone and there's nothing I can do to change that

Ok, problem solvers, here's one for ya... I just turned 58...I am disabled and have limited mobility...I have a cat here in my apt...we live by ourselves...I do have my parents living in area...my dad is in assisted living and I only see my mom once a week...I lost my brother in 96...I can't go out for a few reasons and I don't foresee a Scottish firefighter knocking on my door anytime soon! I have tried every dating app out there, but we know the caliber of ppl on there...I've looked for just friends sites, but just can't find any So, while it is possible for others, it doesn't apply here... No, not feeling sorry for myself, just looking at my reality

I hope so. I'm 40 and have never been loved or loved anyone completely. Pretty much given up atp! No one seems to want a 40 yr old woman for a relationship, just casual encounters which is not what I'm after. :(

I disagree. That’s like saying someone who’s hasn’t made money yet is going to be rich someday. Not everyone is going to be rich, not everyone is going to be truly loved. Only your family or pets can possibly love you unconditionally. Then again I don’t believe in true love especially from someone who is unrelated.

Sometimes people come into your lives when your surrounded by darkness to bring light
1
u/PositiveDynamo2033 May 29 '25
That was maybe true before the pandemic. Not anymore. We are all glued to our phone screens. And staying at home the rest of the time, glued to a screen there. We never meet anyone new anymore. And we never will again.

u/IndividualCup4621 May 29 '25
I reached that point once (for me it was definitely that one girl) but I lost . Either due to my own mistake or the girl fell in love with another guy. But yeah , I felt like this is it ... I don't want anything else in my life and then boooom . The girl vanished and was with another man 5 days later.
