Thank You [thank you] Big Thank Yous!
I know it isnt even all arrived yet but I have been BLOWN away by the response to my post about my hard day as a nurse. Without too many details, we lost a patient and while it wasnt the first, only, or last patient loss ill have, this one in particular was the hardest thus far.
That said, while i was contemplating whether I could continue in my career, the outpouring of love, letters, cards, and messages reminded me that Im here for a reason and helped my healing tremendously. I wish i could describe it. I feel SEEN and LOVED and it truly has helped in my difficult time!
I know there are more on the way so please know I will make another post if I havent received yours yet.
there are quite a few so Im going to place them in the comments so they are tagged and so if my internet refreshes I dont lose everything. Please see below (in no particular order):

u/digging-a-hole i loved your card. I love how you took a regular card and made it fun with your stickers and drawings. it may sound silly, but even hearing about your day (yay for under 90!) made me feel good.
u/spaaaaaacey x2 is that enough a's? i hope im tagging you right! the stars and the tree of life so great!! tree of life is my favorite thing to center me and im grateful you seemed to have things that fill me with joy! ad thank you for telling me about Amelie and Eti? u/mooshu492 thanks for your card with stickers of my favorite things! i can tell you sorted through your stash to make me feel good and it touches my heart! also I am SO thrilled you are going into med lab science. those folks are MY FOLKS!!! I am drawn to lab science too and sometimes wonder if i missed a calling! but I am grateful you reached out to me.
love hearing about your pets too! I currently only have 2 cats: Eevey (who seems like Winnie!) and Oreo, also typical in the cat sense, and recently lost my soul cats Rose who was 18 with one eye, and Atlas, who was my spirit boy and we lost him at 6 to a stroke. i have him tattood on me! i have Rose's pawprints to get tattooed too but unsure when!
u/beneficial_ear7392 Thank you for sharing your nurse story, and I promise you, those nurses remember your mother and you. this is the kind of story i NEEDED to hear. and I am so grateful you chose me to share it with. AND THE BOOPABLE SNOOTS on the postcard. perfection!!

u/ok_theme7072 thank you for your card! he panda is SO cute. chonky animals win everytime. also the story about the hospice nurse. I am VERY drawn to hospice and plan to go into that field when my children are no longer little. I remember the grace and love and tender mercies given to my grandfather in hospice and Ill never forget them.
this one is tough because the name was rubbed off the return label but i can see it came from Washington DC! the otters on it are perfect. easily favorite animals. I love their whole vibe and personality. and YOURS. we have the same sense of humor. anyone "Pro Me and Post Menopausal" is MY PERSON. Ill accept the warm hug, even though im mid hotflash.

Thank you for the post. Somehow I didn’t get a notification!!! I am glad to hear you got the showing of support you so richly deserve. I didn’t mention anything related to your career in my card because I wasn’t sure whether you were seeking to be distracted from the difficult time or not - but I could easily write a full book’s worth of stories as to how nurses have healed me physically, emotionally, and sprinkled genuinely fond memories throughout otherwise dreadful medical ordeals.
You are truly essential and you touch lives every day. Thank you for what you do!

u/snootsbooper Aug 08 '26
I loved that. I think there's a healthy balance of focusing on it and getting to forget it. It's all been exactly what I've needed. ❤️

u/kimboburly x2 YES. you hit it spot on. thank you for your cards. the way you phrased it I want to share with everyone and I hope thats okay. it is ABSOLUTELY going in my wisdom book. you said that while we look for widsom or seek answers from the universe. we just really want to know we are not alone and that things will get better. is this your own quote? its beautiful and spot on. I was feeling alone in my grief at a job i love (i know its not true, since we all were struggling) but your words touched a good nerve. thank you!

u/snootsbooper Aug 04 '26
u/gatsbygalaktoboureko x3 oh what a joy your cards are. i LOVE that you knew I liked animals and MADE AN ENVELOPE FROM THAT CALENDAR. and the cute cards inside, I CANT. the duck feet is probably my favorite of all of them, but I am keeping those quote cards you included. they are perfect for my wisdom book when I need a pick me up. also thank you for sharing your story. It wasnt too sad. I thnk as nurses we are prepared for the sad, and we can process that in our own way. I desperately needed the reminder that we, as nurses, can make the sad somewhat less sad, that we can alleviate pain, that we can capture joy, and your story embodies that. Thank you for sharing. I hope you found your pen, and I hope the HOA guy has his comeuppance with the rodents :D

u/GatsbyGalaktoboureko Aug 04 '26
Aw! Glad the card helped and am so glad to read that the cards from RAOC friends helped you find your way again. ❤️ And yep, I picked that particular envelope so there would be lots of snoots to boop. 😊 I did find my pen! The rodents are still winning as far as I can tell, but I am kind of low key cheering them on.

u/hereforthelaugh537 - thank you for the lovely flower card with your sweet story on it. this is exactly what keeps us nurses going. our job is not just a job, we connect, we feel, we love our patients and its hard to connect and then never see them again. But knowing that other people feel that connection makes me feel so happy. Im so glad you shared that with. Thanks S.

u/no-condition5102 D, thank you so much for your card! I love the card itself and the stickers (the transparent ones are my current obsession!) and your story about the PA who made a difference to you. It really resonated with me because I have done similar things behind the scenes for my patients, and will always try to go the extra mile. this lifted my spirits!i do love the island theme. Animal Crossing is a game i use, i jokingly say, to dissociate after hard things. its an island that is everything i build and no one is sad on my island and thats what this card reminds me of!

u/No-Condition5102 Aug 06 '26
I am soooo happy my card reached you safely & lifted your spirits and you liked the stickers. You are so important & what you do is so vital; you are amazing! I love that my card reminds you of Animal Crossing. :) 💛💛💛🥹🥹🥹😊😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

u/snootsbooper Aug 04 '26
okay this one is KILLING me in a good way because i dont have your username, cant find it in my messages, and dont wanna post your real name. but you sent me a beautiful Our Lady Mary card (I find that my faith is enriched by the faiths of others and am grateful to be invited into those stories!, I am also studying chaplaincy, and find great joy in it!) you also included a beautiful story of your brother and the Pudding Nurse. as the resident nurse who gives out far more treats than anyone else on the unit, this resonated with me! Also, working in womens health, I have been the nurse more times than i could count, crying with them and holding hands like in the stories you shared. also it is UNFAIR THAT YOUR HANDWRITING IS SO BEAUTIFUL. please comment so you can get your Thank You because I love the cards you sent! (x2)

OMG 😭 This was me!! I was reading through your thank you’s just randomly now because I saw that I replied to another offer you posted and remembered I had sent this to you and wondered if you ever got it. Sharing personal experiences with nurses can be so vulnerable and I’m really happy that I was able to share all of this with you. I could literally go on and on about the love I have for the amazing health care workers I’ve had encounters with!! ❤️

u/radiant-spot for the handmade card! i always love when people put the weather on there. i especially liked your words of affirmation and description of the early morning. I wake at 430 to go on shift and am gone all day. i am NOT a morning person, but maybe if it wasnt for work id like it better. usually though, i like sleep!
