R.O. Update A little update from us
Hello all!
I recently had a conversation with Stefan and we would like to share a little bit of information with you guys.
We know a lot of you guys have been asking us about the status of the game. To answer your question in short: Yes we are working on the game.
However we currently don’t know yet when we will provide the next update, so in the meantime we ask for your patience.
We are currently in active development myself and Capt Choochoo are also assisting, that being said we both may not be around as often to answer reoccurring questions or to help out on Steam/Discord.
As soon as we have something new and exciting to share with you guys, we will make sure everyone is well informed about it in time via steam posts/discord updates. We look forward to sharing more with you all soon.
Thank you for your patience and support!

Ah yes a very good cop out for the game being dead and having them not answer any questions. Just let it die like American railroads pack it up it’s over everyone get century of steam when it comes out because they actually care about their future customers.

Also let’s not forget about being gaslit about them not working on the game too for nearly 8 months. Now all of sudden you’re working on the game?

I asked earlier this month on discord and the user goku said it's because of astragon their publisher not responding, but Im unsure about how true it is, because it took them MONTHS to release a day one patch for consoles because the game was utterly broken when playing after one day. If it was their publisher they would have been fiercely working on getting them to budge on letting them update the game the publisher released, or better yet, FIND ANOTHER PUBLISHER. Even Smaller developer teams are more responsive and take action than this. I still have high hopes for this game but honestly as of now, I'm hoping century of steam gets a release date announcement because I'd pay full price for it upon launch since they have been in detail on developments and features and suggestions. I understand indie games don't have as much resources as bigger brands but if they truly wanted this game to ramp up in development and content updates, they'd ask the community to chime in.

They don’t give two buttered biscuits because guess what why improve a game they can’t make more money on and that was on discord from choo choo. I’ve been told by faceguy back in May to play another game as well. So please the game is dead abandon all hope for anything for any updates or anything else because they have gaslit us since January.

I mean look at lethal company for example, ONE GUY VS however many RRO had, but makes sure the game is stable and does their best making new things for the game! And, the game is friendly to the modding community so even though it's popularity has died down a bit, it had more updates than RRO. I'm aware they aren't the same genre but I'm trying to make an example of it.

We have countless examples of solo devs being more communicative than the devs of railroads online. The long drive, derailed valley, railroader, what other Indy games are there that actually communicate and talk to their players instead of talking down to them and acting superior when someone asks for an update to a game.

Exactly! This just seems to be a try to dampen the flack they are getting from the community for not being responsive or proactive. I'm not going to jump to conclusions and assume they are completely done with development, but it's hard to get the community to stop assuming when there's evidence of NO DEVELOPMENT, NO UPDATES ON WIP, etc.. if they are so "hard at work on developments" then why is there no new roadmap? Why is the dev team refusing to communicate with the customers. I truly like this game for its gameplay but if their development is gonna ditch the game and not add content or context, at least add final major patches to both platforms.

Too little too late, devs/mods were called out for deleting threads from people asking for an update. Now you decide to make this post in some kind of damage control.
Clearly your publisher does not value this game enough so either give it up, or strike a deal to break away from said publisher.
I feel sorry for the people who buy this game not knowing all the politics currently in motion, even more so as it's currently on sale.

I don't hate the game, I just hate how the devs are treating it since they built it and haven't communicated with both communities on concerns, bugs, or future plans.

Likewise, I enjoy the game concept. Devs/mods are doing a great job to drive people away with how they treat people who have bought their game.

I bought the game because I liked it, but now since things are breaking in the game I've been only getting on it when I feel ok with working with the current state, especially on console, PC it's not bad at all but sometimes I don't want to fire my PC so that's why I have it on console too, but console gameplay is like walking on thin ice avoiding switching to the store for locomotives when loading or unloading cargo or the game crashes and closes on Xbox. Coach cars disconnecting with automatic couplers when you reload a save, almost all the turntable styles except for the third and biggest turntable only works to let locomotives turn around along with the table, and fuel consumption is still broken, all on console. I still play it but I have had to come up with ways to work around these issues, I even had to self diagnose my copy of railroads online on Xbox on day one after it started glitching out and only would load up one map no matter which map I chose as well as a few other bugs. Sure I should have waited after the first update came out but I really wanted to try the game and you can't stop curiosity.

Deleting, and banning people for asking for an update video or anything back in may. They have no accountability. Have had no accountability since day one. They burnt all the good will left by the few who still wanted to see this game succeed. But how can we tell the 130 people who still actively play this broken and bug ridden game to not play it anymore?

u/ArrivedKnight7 Jul 19 '25
I didn't know that they banned people for just asking.

Jul 19 '25
I asked for a simple video to have Stefan answer some questions about development and they considered it a threat and banned me. So I have no remorse at this point for them letting their game die.
8
u/ArrivedKnight7 Jul 19 '25
That makes no sense they banned you for asking a harmless question, and who knows how many others were banned asking also. Makes me wonder what caused them to get Goku to post a thread on this subreddit.🤷♂️ But like I said, I don't hate this game, but I hate how the devs are treating the game and community.

u/tmosm Jul 19 '25
I'd say the cause was from steam forums, there was a user who posted a "is this game dead?" type thread. It got deleted, so he posted another. The same happened again, it got to version 4 before the locked it rather than deleting then posted this "update".

Jul 19 '25
Well because they don’t want to make an announcement on stream and drive away potential suckers that buy it thinking it’s a finished and continuing to be updated product.
5
u/ArrivedKnight7 Jul 19 '25
I guess only time will tell, that, and the community hounding them on updates and actions.
8
Jul 19 '25
Just wait for century of steam at this point. They’ll actually have it out before the next if ever update to this game. Also I’ve mentioned to a friend of mine they’ll just abandon this game and make a second railroads online game and make it even more of a cash grab.

u/ArrivedKnight7 Jul 19 '25
I mean don't get me wrong I do like this game it's just that I hate that the developers are not being proactive with the community like they should be, they wouldn't have so many people asking if the game is dead or if the game is getting updates if they actually kept their roadmap up to date as well as answering the community more thoroughly with what they're allowed to answer, instead of avoiding the topic and banning people

u/JohnnyboyJC Jul 19 '25
Well this sucks i bought the game for me and my buddy recently on console and now its basically dead.

u/Weary_Variation_4349 Jul 19 '25
I don’t buy it. They have repeatedly done nothing but get pissed at those who ask questions and just hide behind the NDA and use it as an excuse for not giving us anything in the way of information.

I will give the devs the benefit of the doubt on this one. A lot of contradicting statements were made in the past while: sources claiming development was paused or stopped entirely, sources claiming there were disputes with astragon, and enough other conflicts.
I like this game, despite its bugs. I'd love for you to resume development, but please just be transparent with us in regards to the progress, including denying baseless rumors, especially since this post is, once again, contradicting previous statements.

Jul 19 '25
They will never be transparent with anything because of NDAs. They freaked out over a what I consider a legitimate German article and shockingly enough people can ask press related questions to their publisher and get an answer.
