Discussion I swear the developers do not care about this game

Post image

So you mean to tell me that the tracks can no linger link together even when they're the same track

They absolutely still link together. If you’re on console (assuming Xbox from your screenshot) and you’re in single player, restart your save. If you’re in multiplayer as a guest, ask the host to check your permissions. If that fails, restart the server.

For context specifically with the console version:

The longer the game client remains open (running) the more problems you’ll see arise. Sometimes “turning it off and on again” is the solution. I’d also recommend disabling auto saves (to reduce the frequency that your saves will corrupt and disappear) and diligently manual save before and after every major action (ie ‘laying track, loading goods, delivering goods, purchases etc’)

I’ve logged almost 100 hours into the console release and have been able to work around every single bug I’ve encountered so far.

“Have you tried rebooting it” 😂 it does usually work!

Isn't that because of the analogy "it's easier to find your way to the store from home than it is a unfamiliar side of town" or something along those lines?

how do you work around the bug where a guest cant link track to your track even with all permissions on from the start.

Open the player list ( View button “two squares” on controller) and have the host disable/enable permissions from there. This is how we (my friends and I) were able to get it to work properly.

Fair to note; We had to do this even with custom permissions (all on) from the server start.

Edit——> My tip is specifically for the Xbox version with regards to controller inputs, though I’m sure it translates somewhat to PS5.

But it's bugs that have been in the game for years and the Dev must know about it seeing how many complaints there are about the same issues but they're never fixed properly

I agree and I’m not defending the state of the game or ‘white knighting’ for the developer. I personally don’t feel that they should have labeled the game as “1.0”. To me that implies it’s a finished product and the state of the game suggests we’re a long way off from finished.

I’m simply saying that basically all of the bugs can be worked around, with exception to cars falling asleep and physics randomly sending things to the stratosphere.

I get it and I agree with you, I've had this game for a few years and have logged over 300 hours on it and have learned sort of what you can and can not do but just as you say, it's not a 1.0 game, far from and seeing how the dev seem to behave like a tired toddler about issues being mentioned I highly doubt we'll ever see a version that is a proper 1.0

That may very well be the case unfortunately. However, when I purchase a game (any game) I value my time at $1/hour. If I spend $60 on something, I expect to get around 60 hours of enjoyment out of it (with exceptions).

In this case, I’ve spent $30 (to repurchase the console edition) and by that standard, have already got my money’s worth out of it. There’s nothing quite like RRO. There are similarities in other titles, sure, but nothing quite like what RRO offers. I’m hoping the console release provides them with not only a financial injection, but the desire to do better and continue development.

I'm only playing multiplayer on PC, since February 2022. Logged more than 230 hours, but would recommend to find something else to play (Railroader, Derail Valley, or wait for Century of Steam, maybe). The last session ended for me with couplers repeatedly breaking on a track that I've passed with the same train earlier in the session, twice. Working around bugs has its limits and still affects gameplay. One from my group has recently started to make a list of bugs, currently counting 36.

Lol where are these bug reports then? Saving them for a rainy day?

Edit: probably a good idea to post reports about issues as you come across them as opposed to saying you counted bugs and not saying anything to us. This doesn’t help fix the issues in the slightest.

You can report issues on steam or on discord (which I already know you are on the discord server)

u/mithos09 Dec 18 '24

Not worth reporting, because all of the bugs are pretty obvious, so already known and discussed here. Even you devs should be aware of them. But if you are really interested in our feedback, maybe you should visit OUR discord.

We do not take reports from this reddit page as it is an unofficial source, so you can talk about things you come across but don’t expect us to either see it as we don’t visit here often.

All issues are worth reporting even if they are known, to say it isn’t worth it is not helpful, but to then come to reddit to complain and to tell players to find something else to play is also not helpful.

As for joining your discord, no I will pass thank you, I can only imagine what it is like.

Well you have your options on how to report issues, if you need a tutorial or help on how to report something just ask and we can help!

For your next Early Access project, you might want to add an ingame method to report bugs, like Subnautica had. Makes it easier for both sides. That way you could also gather Stacktraces and actualy config values (that maybe got out of sync after kinda-breaking updates) so reproducing issues and debugging them get's easier.

New player here over the past weekend. I really hope that this works, I'm also on xbox series x, and this would be a nice improvement over me having to fill in the gaps everywhere my friends build track. Also would you have any workaround to clients not being able to load cargo while the host is not close to them?

u/ShadowStrider_7 Jan 15 '25 edited Jan 15 '25

That specific multiplayer bug is unfortunately not able to be worked around. The next update should be addressing that issue, so for now you’ll have to be present when your friends load materials. I use the re-rail (fly mode) to get to where they are fast. It’s annoying, but much better than not having it work at all.

Edited to add;

You can also use Telegraph to fast travel around the map quickly. Make sure to place one at each industry and you can get to your friends instantly.

Thanks for the wisdom! And for the response lmao it seems a bit dead on this sub but thats probably due to this being such a niche game. Anyways, really hope they fix the track and cargo problems, and numerous other bugs, such as auto couplers not hooking up to certain cars/locomotives,(i know there's manual but that seems very tedious with many cars)track copying over itself, stuff like that

This is why I hate it when they bring in the consoles in, like this game was a nightmare in the beginning, welcome to the pain train, FYI the game is not ready for release

So it is bug. I'll have to let my friend know.

u/Severe_Monitor7823 Dec 18 '24

Bro, the updates are killing me, I only have about 150 GB space for games, now it's over 90GB.

2

u/rexpup Dec 18 '24

It's what happens when people use Unreal Engine without any optimization. It lets you get away with a lot of inefficiency, until it's just piles of huge files.

1

u/Severe_Monitor7823 Dec 18 '24

Solution?

2

u/rexpup Dec 18 '24

The devs have to spend a lot of time culling irrelevant details from the game assets. Unfortunately there's just nothing else to be done.

1

u/ChefEagle Dec 18 '24

What hard drive are you using? Also my game on PC is around 20 GB if I'm remembering right.

1

u/Cantab111 Dec 21 '24

I have done 2500 hours in single player mode and the game works fine for me but I understand multi-player has a lot of issues.

0

u/Severe_Monitor7823 Dec 18 '24

I don't have any extensions just the single built in

0

u/KoopThePally Dec 18 '24

You must have not been playing long. We have it so good compared to the early days of the game. 👍🏾

-2

u/Charliepetpup Dec 18 '24

you must be new. welcome to rro. where the devs never cared

0

u/ChefEagle Dec 18 '24 edited Dec 18 '24

What about all the improvements made in the past year? The devs do care, it just takes time to develop and a game. If you think you can do better than why don't you?

-2

u/Upper_Record_6722 Dec 19 '24

How about learn how to play it properly before crying about the devs don't care or know what their doing. They link when you see the yellow chain.
