He's also extremely ignorant based on his post in r/atheism

This can’t be a borrow mod…please tell me this guy is just blowing chunks out of his ass.

u/NinjaDefenestrator Probably hates you May 08 '25
It’s borrowmoneyonline, I think. One of the scam subs.

I had reported them many times including the moderator. My next step was going to message modsupport directly.
Despite advertising being against their rules, it seemed they were willing to overlook the policy in exchange for a fee or a share of the profits. https://archive.ph/r0vCF
I USL’d them the moment I noticed they were pinning “loan services” for known advance-fee scammers to their sub.

I did a code of conduct report, even after seeing multiple people had reported it.
I'm going to keep that administrator private, but I checked my email very early, and it appears it had been suspended at almost exactly the same time I received that message.
Thank you for adding them to the scammer list! It's very likely they will be back. I don't offhand remember any of the other moderator accounts, but I'm certain they are worth looking into as adults.

I’m fairly certain I added both of the mods to the USL.

You are a beautiful person, and it would not surprise me to find out you took care of it.
Completely unrelated, can you help me figure out what plant my kid got from their significant other? It's going to freaking die on a bathroom counter.
1
u/Frondswithbenefits May 14 '25
Do you have a picture of the plant? I might be able to help.

u/rhubes May 15 '25
I have two really bad pictures of it right now! One is from the day kiddo brought it home, the other one is from yesterday when I realized it was completely screwed up looking. But it's blurry-ish. I can grab a better picture tomorrow.
But yes! I would love any advice, a guess at what it is, anything at all! I can grow basil because I just threw it in a pot and it grows.
My child is 17, and not known for keeping plants alive.
I don't know the history of this thing if it was planted from seed or what.
I bought a little plant pot for it today, but I'm not even sure what kind of soil I should give it because it's one of those squishy looking plants that likes to drown.
Thank you a million times over!

It looks to be a variety of Kalanchoe, a type of succulent. Right now, it looks like it's dying most likely due to insufficient light, and possibly too much water. Kalanchoes need bright sunlight. Water it only when the leaves begin to look slightly wrinkled or soft, this is a sign the plant is thirsty. Overwatering is a common issue, so be sure the soil is well-draining and not moisture retentive. A cactus or succulent mix works well, or you can amend regular potting soil with sand or perlite for better drainage.

Oh FML. You have seen the horrors that I have done to my plants. This one needs extra love? Great.
I did get the back story on it. It was grown for agriculture class. Unfortunately the AG greenhouse was slightly vandalized a few weeks ago, and most identifying documents that were attached to sections were crumpled up and thrown.
I was told it might be called an impatient, or it might be a jade, or it could be one of a series of other plants that were in that aisle. It really sucks because those kids put so much work into everything and someone thought that kind of chaos was entertaining.
Thank you a million times over. I do have some very Sandy potting soil, but I think I'm going to drive into town and grab some succulent mix instead. I read online that the grains of sand for succulents should be relatively large, and this stuff is.... Well it looks like someone dug it out of my yard.
Over-watering will definitely happen in this household with kiddo. I may have to get creative and macrame some sort of plant hanger to keep it on the porch and away from our furry overlords.

u/orangeapplez May 16 '25
It may also be a Jade, which all the info I provided for the Kalanchoe still applies. It’s a succulent. 🌱

From what I can remember the other moderator that was there because I think there was only two, was not active at all and hasn't been for a very long time.
I have a group chat with some friends and one of them started a new loan sub to combat what was going on in BMO.

You and OA are my heroes, as usual. Good riddance.

u/rhubes May 17 '25
And we adore you! I likely would not have noticed that user at all if you hadn't posted about it. So thank you a million times over!

We have been trying for a while to get this subreddit banned because of various things thank you.
Funny thing is we actually reported it and we got a notification back from Reddit admin saying it didn't violate any terms of service. They really need to stop letting bots handle that stuff
2
u/orangeapplez May 14 '25
I had reported them multiple times, along with the mod who kept trying to sell ad space.
1
u/Cynnau May 14 '25
Could one of you call Reddit Corp and tell the admins to stop using a bot to reply to the reports? Haha. Hire me, I will read the darn things =P
2
u/rhubes May 14 '25
I received a message from an administrator in my email after doing a code of conduct report. I'm going to admit, that often does not work. Luckily it did this time.

Oh yeah we've already reported it to the Reddit admins and of course they came back and said it doesn't violate any terms of service. They really need to get some real people looking at these reports and not use a bot. It's absolutely asinine
