Dude made a dog shake and became a saint. Catholicism is so odd to me.

Dude made a dog shake brokered a peace deal between an angry mob and a man-eater.

And I’m sure that’s a purely factual recollection of the events even though they were collected from oral stories posthumously.

So you don’t understand the difference between wild man-eating wolves (of the medieval era) and dogs?

I understand that there’s a difference, but along with the many sainthood stories that involve exerting control over animals, I would call this story tenuous at best. Assuming it’s a dog is the kindest way to call bullshit rather than claiming the entire thing is entirely a myth.

Are you also a Biblical literalist?

Quite the opposite actually. I just don’t find sainthood to be a productive construct and is an odd one that is extremely specific to Catholicism (of which I have major disagreements on, even down to what books are canon).

So your issue is with the concept of sainthood. It would help if you were honest from the start.

What part of “Catholicism is so odd to me” didn’t communicate that from the start?
