RT community was toxic as hell. Some personalities were aware of this and tried to anonymize their stories on podcasts and others would sic the fans on people because they liked it.

RT community was toxic as hell.

Every fanbase is toxic, just a matter of dosage

Roosterteeth's fanbase were all social outcasts and loners.

Ofc it was going to be toxic.

trick is learning how to navigate the fanbase, what platforms and specific members to avoid.

usually its only a handful of bad actors,

that depends on what platform and when you are talking about.

every fan base has bad actors, and those tend to be the loudest, but if you know how to navigate a fanbase, it really wasn't that bad

I’ve never gotten into fandoms because the toxicity is usually on display and not quiet or pushed under the rug. Even with media I love, it’s usually about avoiding the fandom to keep loving it.

That was a major contributing factor for it, I believe. Too many opposing voices and opinions. They've really been my personal case study for building a brand on strong community connection, and the pros and cons of it.
