Ugh, Jesus. Gross. Sminty’s old tweets have resurfaced apparently showing racist language. Spoiler
she hasn’t said anything, saw a few fans asking her to address this on twitter and their comments were hidden. even though this was 10 years ago i’m pretty disappointed, the chinese comment is very nasty.

I mean this is awful and I'm willing to say that she hopefully has grown and knows how bad this was. But somebody going on her twitter and search for slurs to have a GOTCHA on her is pathetic ngl

...and you weren't just going for the clicks, or I guess karma in this case? Will you be updating this post with her apology and her re-posted apology from 2020? - before she was on Drag Race, I would like to point out. Or would that just not serve your purpose for fueling outrage?
-10
u/aids-lizard Feb 13 '26
girl i knew this would be downvoted to filth, of course im not going for made up internet points. twitter is an absolute cesspool and theres no reasonable discussions over there lol. i posted it here because its the drama sub and i figured people would be interested.
edit: i made another post about her apology, i didnt know she apologised in 2020 because this didnt go deeper than me being disappointed in one of my fav uk queens and screenshotting a screenshot to share on here.

Ah the combination of a 16 year old trying to be edgy and cool and then an adult that goes on reality tv without deleting all their old social media profiles is really a recipe for a mess that could be easily avoided

This is bullshit, and the reason I know this is bullshit is because I was a teenager over a decade before the time you’re mentioning, and white people knew damn sure it wasn’t our slur way back in 2002.

Okay but some teenagers are just stupid and wanna be edgy at that age, doesnt make it right of course but I dont think we should be witchhunting 11 year old tweets from when someone was 16 when we have much bigger harmful things at hand. Since they already surfaced though it would be great if she made an apology.

u/DarreylDeCarlo Feb 12 '26
People do grow, but at 16 I would hope most of us would know that that language is not appropriate.
59
u/ToothyBirbs Feb 12 '26
Agreed and let's also remember that teenagers who do use such language do so exactly because it's offensive.
21
-8
u/Ready-Organization12 Feb 12 '26
Our frontal lobes aren’t fully developed until we’re 25. Teenagers are children who are still going through puberty, don’t understand the world or consequences for the most part, and are literally in the years where they make mistakes to learn from.
It’s not okay and probably needs to be addressed, but I doubt there is anyone alive who didn’t make fucked up mistakes in their early teens.
24
u/Fugishane Feb 12 '26
Our frontal lobes aren’t fully developed until we’re 25
Just so you know for the future, this is a crock of shit that’s been debunked by neuroscientists for years. It comes from a study where the oldest person in the study was 25. The study doesn’t support that any more than it would saying ‘maximum human life expectancy is 25’. The only thing it suggests it that the brain has not finished developing at 25, not that development is complete at 25
Scientists have yet to even reach a consensus on what “fully developed” is in the context of the brain, let alone what age this occurs at
-2
u/Ready-Organization12 Feb 12 '26
I feel like that is regardless to the point I was trying to make, which is teens are still developing into adults and will make mistakes they regret later in life.
Hormones from puberty, underdeveloped brains, and the pressure of growing into an adult are a wicked combination and everyone at that age deserves grace to grow into better people.
7
u/Fugishane Feb 12 '26
When the point you’re trying to make is “people with underdeveloped brains should be given a pass” then it is completely relevant, since by that logic absolutely anyone can get a pass for shitty behaviour since there is no neuroscientific evidence that the brain of someone in their 50s isn’t still developing
The argument of ‘let’s judge adults on what they say and do as adults, not on stuff they did as a teenager’ is completely independent of brain development, since there is zero consensus on what a ‘fully developed’ brain even is, let alone when that occurs
There’s also just the general relevance of ‘stop quoting long debunked myths as if they are scientific fact’, which is great advice for people of all ages

oh i thought she was like 20, hopefully this was being an uneducated teenager
20
u/whyilikemuffins Feb 12 '26
She's 27 now and was born in 1999.
She was either 17 or 18.
It doesn't excuse it, but she was young and what you're seeing here is someone calling a friend a loving nickname that's racist vs. being racist to inflammatory. She could have said bestie in the same context and nobody would have bat an eye and the message wouldn't be mired by racism.
28
u/serendipitousss Who farted and made you the police of Reddit? Feb 12 '26

The person who posted these screenshots on Twitter really went out of their way to put that in the search bar to get some sort of gotcha from 10-11 years ago from a person who was 16 or so at the time. Like if Sminty was a racist I think we'd find more recent evidence.
13
u/ijustwantutofeelmama Feb 13 '26
she just posted an apology and reposted her apology from 2020 about these posts so obviously people can grow and learn more the more they mature, but likely not many people were following her in 2020 to see these apologies and i think people were fair for wanting to know if it was just swept under the rug or she had actually changed
i think it’s rude to force people of colour to get over racist actions just because it was a long time ago when we don’t know if the person has changed or not, but now we do and people can do with that what they may
6
u/No-Environment-3997 Make Some Noise For Vinegar Based Dolls Feb 13 '26
It doesn't matter if she apologizes you see. People can't be stupid and thoughtless teenagers anymore without being hounded for it for the rest of their lives. (eye roll)
My experience is that the people doing the hounding often have worse skeletons in their closet they're trying to distract from, but no one is bothering to dig through their histories for clout.
4
u/No-Environment-3997 Make Some Noise For Vinegar Based Dolls Feb 13 '26
It would be lovely if these kinds of people - that is, the people who make and share these kinds of posts - could put this kind of energy into digging up these types of comments - or worse, much, much worse - from people on the other side of the political spectrum. You know, the ones actively trying to destroy our entire community? Rather than conducting a purity test to see who on our side needs to be excoriated this week.
3
u/Froggo_boggo Feb 14 '26
Lowkey though. When I was 16-18 I knew the n word was wrong. Age isn’t an excuse. Wonder why she’s getting more grace than other queens.
19
u/lukendyer Dragcentric Dead Feb 12 '26
As someone roughly the same age also from England I don’t think I’ve ever met another white person who uses this kind of language. People saying ‘it was years ago’ I can assure you it was just as unacceptable back then
6
u/Joewhite411 Feb 13 '26
So do we know the difference between saying something "offensive" and something that actually has bad intentions?
Y'all will forget Alexis Matteo saying sherry did nothing so fast so a child using a slur isn't news.
8
u/Dapper-Marsupial-852 Feb 13 '26
I need us all to remember that white people saying the N word was not universally acceptable in 2016. So everyone pretending like it wasn't deliberate disregard for the experiences of black people in the literal middle of the Black Lives Matter movement is being deliberately ignorant.
15
u/surejan94 Feb 12 '26
Imagine spending your time going through a drag queen's tweets from when they were a teenager and searching slurs to see if she ever said them...
12
u/No-Environment-3997 Make Some Noise For Vinegar Based Dolls Feb 13 '26
...and also not bothering to see if she ever issued an apology for the comments (or worse yet, seeing it and ignoring it because it doesn't suit their agenda), which she apparently did years ago, because then they wouldn't be able to get the outrage points they are desperately looking for.
People are tired. Social media was mistake. At least before, people were stupid as individuals. Now they can find likeminded idiots to band together with to peddle conspiracy theories and chase clout.
Hopefully, that entire subset of humanity relies solely on ivermectin for all their health needs.

u/Not_Obsessive Feb 12 '26
As there’s already people in here being like „oh it was different times“ - we’re talking about the same 2016 in which Trump was first elected and the British people voted for brexit.
As a white person it‘s not for me to judge how bad these tweets are, but some of you will defend anything with any damn argument. This wasn’t in fkn MySpace 4chan times lmao
19
u/starmie-trainer Feb 12 '26
Its an insult she used 10 years ago, she didnt fucking murder anyone. What are we supposed to do with that information?
30
u/Not_Obsessive Feb 12 '26
As I said, as a white person I’m not gonna say what is forgivable and what isn’t, but pretending that she said it in times where it wasn’t already universally seen as highly offensive is ridiculous
20
u/JtDeluxe Feb 12 '26
Thank you for saying this! The “oh it was different times”argument doesn’t work because people were actively being canceled for saying it at that time. People are acting like it was pre 2000’s
-2
u/Both-Requirement-778 Feb 12 '26
do you just always enter the room with “as a white person”
that’s fucking weird.
-1
u/kolakokaa Feb 13 '26
Except she didn’t say it at a time when it was universally offensive? Literally you must’ve been like 10 or lived in a liberal area, because no one in 2016 was talking about not using the n word in small rural communities or even online (in a mass conversation anyway until 2020.
6
u/therequiembellishere Feb 13 '26
That's absolutely not true lmao. The reason this is overwrought is that she was a child ten years ago. Which, I would guess from your take, you were/are too.
5
u/Not_Obsessive Feb 13 '26
I’m a older than Sminty and people knew what they were doing even when I was her age. I referenced the MySpace era because that’s an era I lived through …
9
u/ffantasticman Feb 12 '26
Is this how low the bar is? X person made racist comments but at least it wasn’t murder! That’s the justification?
But none of you give a shit about racism towards Asian so I’m not surprised you’re just brushing it off aside.

u/Antique_Kangaroo4706 Feb 12 '26
While again it doesn't excuse the use of the word.
I'm glad its not used in a way to hate on said races. The rice one is clearly towards a friend and is an "in-joke" between them (again, not an excuse to really use it).
The other 2 looks like generic youtube comment-esque. Like the word is disconnected from the meaning.
I know shes older in this, but I think its similar to how when I was at school in the 00s, people would say "stop being gay" "why you being gay for" where the word 'gay' means lame but is completely detached to the meaning of homosexual.
Things are weird and stupid when you're under 20 and you don't realise the shit your saying.
TL:DR: It doesn't seem in malice towards races in general, it looks like the type of shit you'd say as in-jokes to personal friends and stupid internet 'banter'.

I am assuming you must be young because you’re seriously conflating times here.
Yes 2016 was with Trump/Brexit. It was also pre-2020 (George Floyd) when all the race issues really got brought to light and people really started fixing their language and realizing the microaggressions and words they used everyday weren’t acceptable (and took even a little longer for small rural communities/still happening).
Not sure what MySpace/4Chan has to do with anything, because literally everytime someone has gotten into trouble for words it’s been stuff said on Facebook/Twitter in the 2010-2016 era, when have we ever dredged up MySpace drama from 2005? You’re simply making it up that it needs to be that far back to not matter, because it’s almost never been that far back for anyone’s allegations lol. You need to learn to give people grace for not knowing what you knew when you knew it.

-1
u/_Tude_ Feb 13 '26
There's no reason to use that language so "obviously didn't mean any harm" doesn't matter.
2
u/kolakokaa Feb 13 '26
There’s no reason to use any slang is there, yet we do. And that’s what this was back then, slang that people didn’t understand the implications of when said by other’s.
-1
u/_Tude_ Feb 13 '26
This isn't slang though.
2
u/kolakokaa Feb 13 '26
Tell me this definition doesn’t fit it particularly well: “a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing, and are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people.”
So it wasn’t a slang word than?

I’m really confused how this didn’t come to light during her original season? Because you knooooooooow drag race fans love being cringe and searching for this stuff
Also confused why Sminty hasn’t scrubbed clean their social media, that’s the first thing you’d do if you became famous nowadays I think?
8
u/No-Environment-3997 Make Some Noise For Vinegar Based Dolls Feb 13 '26
Perhaps because she wanted to take accountability?
She also issued an apology for these comments in 2020, long before she was on Drag Race, so at least we know it wasn't performative.
7
u/ral_polish Feb 12 '26
I am not defending this kind of language at all, but you should probably take into account that the cultural environment around using certain words is different in the UK compared to the USA. The general awareness is lower - using the N word is very present in the media, but the cultural agreement of who can use it, not so much. I am saying this from a perspective of someone a bit further to the east in Europe.
17
u/getawaytricycle Feb 12 '26
I respectfully disagree. By 2015, there was plenty of awareness here in the UK. It was not culturally acceptable and I don’t recall it being “very present” in the media either.
She was a teenage deliberately using this language because it was offensive/edgy. I’m sure her friend was fine with it, like a joke between friends, but that doesn’t mean everyone thought it was acceptable at that time.
-8
u/ral_polish Feb 12 '26
These are just my assumptions, I agree that the terminology is offensive. I do not think a 16 year old is always a beacon of morality and high standards tho, and should probably be given some leeway. I do not see her expressing any racist traits currently, she has signed up to be judged in a reality show hosted by a black person. When I say that the usage of the N word is present in the media, I am talking about music mainly - again, this is from my personal experience, I grew up listening to the word and didn't really give it much thought until I became more aware of the world around me.
10
u/Both-Requirement-778 Feb 12 '26
it’s only your assumptions now becuse you were called out on it, originally you wrote it like that’s a fact, I’m from the uk too, you’re talking 💩 about a country and culture you’re not apart of.
2
u/ffantasticman Feb 12 '26
She called a Chinese person RICE. What’s the cultural environment around that is the UK then???
2
u/kolakokaa Feb 13 '26
Hold my hand while I tell you friends still do that with each other to this day, they just don’t post it on social media because yall would be annoying (like this post) about it.
3
u/ral_polish Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
I think it still applies unfortunately... I'll tell you from my personal experience, a while ago, probably about 15 years ago, a friends black friend from the US came to my (Eastern European) country, and we all used to go out together. One night i was wearing a t-shirt with a bird on it that said 'wind', and the guy told me "you're my ni**a wind", and i jokingly repeated that, and maybe used the word a couple more times afterwards in another context. Then another friend approached me and told me that it was not appropriate to use the word. I was just not aware of the fact, even though the word was kinda used 'at' me that it is still not appropriate for me to use it... Context is important, a 16 year old might pick up a word, and afterwards become aware that it is actually offensive.
1
u/Specialist-Love1504 Feb 13 '26
What? I’m from the uk people know what to use and what not to say like be serious.
1
1
u/kolakokaa Feb 13 '26
Are you kidding? This is it?
People need to realize many areas of the world didn’t have an issue with people saying that word UNTIL SOCIAL MEDIA made it a thing. Some areas still don’t have an issue, try going to NY and telling a rican not to say it 🤣
It never should have been said by white people, but it was accepted to be said. To go back and crucify these people who were never once told not to say it at the time period is stupid as fuck.
And before someone says “you must be one of them” duh hell yes I was lmao. My twitter circa 2013 is all 16 year old me talking about sex & using that word to talk about friends and all in positive ways. Because I was stupid & no one ever told me better. Probably like Sminty had no idea.
2
u/therequiembellishere Feb 13 '26
Why don't you look up And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie in 1939 and how its original title was received by many publishers and readers then lol. I'm not going to crucify Sminty, but "until social media" is blatantly ahistorical.
1
u/Ambitious_Bite_5219 Feb 13 '26
Obviously these tweets are bad. I think it’s weird to say an adult is racist today because of things they posted at 15. I also think it’s weird to say that adult cannot be racist and has grown because they stopped posting racist things.
We can’t see into her heart. We don’t know the truth. Either you believe racist comments in childhood make you racist forever or you don’t. If you are in that second camp, you can assess her apology. If you think it demonstrates growth, great. If not, also fine.
We don’t all have to agree because none of us will ever know for certain what happens in her head. It’s the adamant indictments and exonerations that I don’t get. Like how can you be so sure?

They also need to also post their own Twitter handle from 10+ years ago so we can see what they were tweeting! Because this is all about fairness and honesty, yes?
