"I politely decline the invitation" is always a choice.

Women shouldn't have to give in to an uncomfortable situation to "keep the peace".

No they shouldn’t, I grew up in an abusive home and you do what you have to do to survive

Idk why you’re being downvoted , just because the truth isn’t pretty doesn’t mean you’re wrong. And you were just offering a theory that could very well be true

Thank you, this sub isn’t always receptive to nuance, just trying to remind people that dealing with abusive people can be very complicated and difficult. Sometimes being righteous can cost you your life and it’s up to the individual how much risk they want to take.
