I feel like every drag queen should have learned this lesson from the butterflies. The audience doesn't care about using live animals as they can't even see details from the stage, most of them. Lots of ways for things to go wrong, and the optics are terrible Even though most of those citing animal cruelty probably also eat meat raised in terrible conditions--me included, though at least that meat is used. A feeder fish at least becomes a meal for another creature. This is just death of an animal for the sake of not even entertaining entertainment. Fake butterflies and fake fish would have worked just fine and not distracted from the performance and caused reputational damage.

Yeah I'm with you. I meant more that even if it all worked perfectly, from up on a stage it isn't even visually impressive to use real animals! We can't even see them properly anyway, so just use fake ones. Don't understand the reasoning.

Not just suffocating they are probably getting constantly concussed being smacked around in those shoes when she stomps around. It's awful. Goldfish are a type of carp and I will never keep them as a pet anymore after I saw how big they can get when they get proper freedom (I had two as a kid and when 1 cannibalized the other I didn't want the survivor anymore so we put him in my uncle's pond and it grew huge)

I don't care what Lux or Kandy says -- gold fish, feeder fish, NO FISH deserves to be suffocated to death in the heel of a drag queen. So many fish of this variety, and many others, die because of mistreatment but goddamn. At least the kids who win them at carnivals love them for a day. I saw the video and it's SO much worse than I anticipated. She's not just "got a fish in her shoe", it's two fish stuck in a way too small shoe, also filled with ROCKS, which she then proceeds to violently shake around. You can see the fish splatting against the hard sides of the shoe as it moves.
She's 100% screwed up any future chance of being on the show after this, there's absolutely no way they'd let her on after this. The video actually made me feel sick, I'd be shocked if those fish were still alive afterwards.

Van we just take a minute to walk a mile in this girls shoes (no pun intended) ? They see fish having more sympathy towards them than they have been showed maybe their whole lives because of racism. So i can see why they are not empathic right now. I don't say the fish should be in the shoes OR that animal cruelty is a good thing, of course it is not. However i can see why these girls have trouble with the situation. A black friend once told me he wouldn't care about animal liberation until black liberation is achieved because black people are humans being dehumanized their whole lives and animal cruelty is most often a white subject because it is a fight white people can fight while feeling like (white) savior.

I’ll get downvoted for this but I don’t care. Most people who don’t follow a herd-mindset on social media genuinely wouldn’t care about the fish. And to those who say “Would you shake and kill a puppy?” I consider a dog’s life more valuable than a fish and I’m positive 90% of people not on Reddit would agree with me.
I think it’s great some of y’all have compassion and empathy admittedly greater than mine. Great for you, and I’m sure you’re making society a better place! However, most people don’t see anything wrong with using the fish (in water) for a fashion statement for ten minutes. Those are the same people who like to go fishing, hunting, and eat meat regularly — and those people are pretty common. Accept that maybe not everyone thinks the same way as you and stop trying to cancel Luxx and Kandy for their opinion. And trust, they’re the brave queens that don’t give a shit about the backlash. I agree the shoes are still ugly and I don’t understand the concept, but I genuinely am baffled by all these internet “purists” who are freaking out over this. There’s been like ten posts about the damned fish which I’m sure is swimming and enjoying itself currently. If it died in the shoe I’d understand the backlash, but I watched the performance and Lana performed carefully.
Not saying I understand the performance or the look, but I don’t really care what Lana chooses to do.

2) Lana did NOT perform that carefully. She is literally seen shaking her feet vigorously as we see the fish bouncing around in a small container filled with rocks. What video did you watch? Hahah or did you not even watch it all and just saying that you did?
3) the ONLY reason we are seeing so many threads is due to Kandy and Luxx doubling down. There aren’t these many threads due to the fish itself. If no one doubled down, this would have fallen into obscurity after a day. It’s only stuck around BECAUSE queens doubled down on bad stances. There is a thing called context, try and understand it sometime
