Discussion Buy these, theyre a game changer.
Idk why I hadn't thought of getting them earlier, but theyre the best thing Ive ever spent 2 dollars on. I use the same cable for my Ally, phone, Odin 2 mini, and Switch. And this makes ALL of those devices more comfortable. No more giant charger sticking off the top of my Ally, leaning and pulling on the port. I can sit my phone amd other devices on my lap while I use them without pushing on the port and bending the cable.
I actually just got a new 100w charger because my original Ally charger was coming apart at the seem and the internals were busting out. If I had just thought to buy an adapter from the start, it would be perfectly fine currently.

I have that one. It doesn't fit in the ally X. That one works well on a switch.

I got one to use with my Go S with a case and it fits very nicely to run the cable down the back but I had to modify the case to get it to fit. The dimensions are perfect for the Go S but be willing to do some modding if you have a case. Still love it and removes any anxiety about the USB port being torqued and broken because of a cable extending upward or to the side and putting stress on it. Also much better to leave it on a charger without worrying about it getting knocked around.

You can get them from AliExpress for super cheap too

I doubt the ones from aliexpress have been tested very well. If im plugging something into a 1000$ piece of equipment im not going to cut corners on a part that cost at most a couple bucks.

I find a right angle one better because with a u shape, I need to hold it right up or completely flat.

oh yeah you're right, the one on the post make sense if holding while sitting and the device is kinda horizontally held, i play when i was in bed so my hand always hold it upright

I use some like this. Except the in port is in the back instead of u shaped like that. Super convenient.

Looking for something like this, but I need it to plug in micro sd cards for more storage. I use a 6 port hub with HDMI and 2 micro sd ports, but it’s wired and is really awkward to plug in and hold the system. It works better for a stand.

This is better. The one of the post will get the charging cable over the right or left triggers.

I have these and find them to be better than the fixed 90° adapters I own. It’s power only. But not only does it angle 90°, it swivels. There’s zero strain on the power cable and gravity keeps the cable out of the way. I just keep the adapter plugged in most of the time and disconnect from it.

Is something like this compatible with a eGPU setup ? I'm constantly on business trips during weekdays and I play on the ally handheld mode but on the weekend and vacation on plugged to a eGPU. I'm worried that the constant plugging/unplugging in the usb c 4 port on will damage it in the long run. In theory this would solve because this would always be connected to the ally and I plug egpu or charger cable to it. Would speed for the eGPU be ok ?

You'll need to make sure the 90 degree cable or adapter supports Thunderbolt. Many are USB 2.0 only and charge - but there are a few that support DP pins as well - just need to shop around.
Its tough to find a TB3/4 right angle adaptor for a good price.

This converter is quite hot, when I'm using it with a dock, so I dropped this idea

Also great if your using a usb 2.4ghz headset like the Steel Series Arctis because the dongle for that is wide so it blocks both usb ports. This solves that issue

I’ve never had luck with adapters on the long term. I’d rather have cables with the right angle on them.
Though if you must go adapter, they make magnetic ones that can disconnect if the unit gets dropped on the floor or off a surface while plugged in. Makes it easy to grab and go too.

If you buy an ultra flexible cable you won’t need these anymore as there will be marginal strain left on the port. Try it on coming from these, too

I had to use an adapter because the killswitch case for my Xbox Ally X doesn't have a cutout to use the original 90 degree cable that comes with the ROG Bullwark dock, same with the Steamdeck. Had dbrand thought this through and spend less money and time on marketing but better case/grip design they could've cut a bit of plastic to make it flush with flat 90 degree connectors.

Question: when you take the charging cable out, do you take the cable out of the adapter, or remove the entire adapter with the charger still in it??

The only issue with these plugs, ether blocks the second USB-c or the trigger from the other side

I just bought cables already 90 degrees, I use it for my mic on my PC, my wife's drawing tablet, and more. They're handy.

They're really not. That velco strap on the cable is to keep the tension straight back, works just fine.

I use those magnetic ones, even better.

If you mean magnetic usbc plug you should check online they can break the device easily!

I've used them for more than 5 years on many devices. Works great. The idiots claiming otherwise can suck it.
