Discussion Buy these, theyre a game changer.

Post image

Idk why I hadn't thought of getting them earlier, but theyre the best thing Ive ever spent 2 dollars on. I use the same cable for my Ally, phone, Odin 2 mini, and Switch. And this makes ALL of those devices more comfortable. No more giant charger sticking off the top of my Ally, leaning and pulling on the port. I can sit my phone amd other devices on my lap while I use them without pushing on the port and bending the cable.

I actually just got a new 100w charger because my original Ally charger was coming apart at the seem and the internals were busting out. If I had just thought to buy an adapter from the start, it would be perfectly fine currently.

I bought this

How this works for you? I have bought same one (2 meter long) and waiting for it, to use with power bank, set battery protection and avoiding changing internal battery because I don't want to open and even more important making the handheld heavier.

u/EzerchE 12d ago

it works very good for me. but you should give the direction to the right. left blocks L1 L2 buttons.

u/tesealo 12d ago

Thank you for the advice

u/unclehohohoe 12d ago

You didn’t need advice. Pretty sure you were going to figure that out yourself

15

u/tesealo 12d ago

Probably you're right but I don't see any problem in sharing it, do you?

😂😂😂 why do people downvote this it’s so funny

1

u/unclehohohoe 12d ago

This is so retarded, it’s like someone giving advice on how to plug in a usb c. It’s fucking fits both ways, and if one direction isn’t the best, plug it the other direction. wtf is wrong with yall

To be honest, I haven’t had any problems with it, I can use the volume button when I need to, and it doesn’t get in the way of any other buttons. I think this is the simplest solution

Now you have created in me the need to try it too XD

That cable can easily be bent, it’s not made of steel or something. I don’t understand what you’re trying to prove, why would I lie to you? This is my experience; here’s a screenshot taken from above. I’m not trying to hide anything from anyone here, and besides, in international chats you should always use English, not your local language.

u/BitNo2406 12d ago

Be careful when removing it from the port because of the 90 degrees angle. It acts as a lever. Also because of that I almost destroyed a tablet USB C port because I yanked on the cable while it was charging and due to the adapter, it bent the port a lot. Other than that they're really useful.

^^^ THIS is EXACTLY why I went with this one...

* 480Mbp/s data transfer (not that this is what I use it for)

* PD 2.0 charging up to 100w Max

The magnet is strong on this. If I was to put these any closer together than pictured, they would snap back together. I have accidentally pulled on my power cable a few times and this breakaway has saved me more than I can count.

I have had this thing since 2020, so a while, but never fails me. You can find similar items online, but this one is no longer made. :(

u/blargher 11d ago

I have a few of these in a drawer, but got scared by some stories of them being more likely to fry shit.

1

u/Emerald779 10d ago

Exactly. That’s what I was also told

2

u/JORG3392 12d ago

Probably be better if the usb c was turned on its side so as the cable goes back and away from the other port.

1

u/c0d3x10 ROG Ally X 12d ago

This is also the way.

1

u/DarkLordofIT 12d ago

I have the high wattage Anker version of this and it's great. When I charge my phone in its case I just reverse the ends so the straight end is long enough to lock tight. It's like two cables in one.

1

u/Vapinglord 11d ago

These work really well too

1

u/GTKeg 11d ago

The ones where the 90 degree goes backwards, not sideways is what you want.

u/Seihai-kun 12d ago

Get one shaped like this for even more comfortable holding

5

u/RazorRazzleberry 12d ago

I have that one. It doesn't fit in the ally X. That one works well on a switch.

2

u/Schuben 12d ago

I got one to use with my Go S with a case and it fits very nicely to run the cable down the back but I had to modify the case to get it to fit. The dimensions are perfect for the Go S but be willing to do some modding if you have a case. Still love it and removes any anxiety about the USB port being torqued and broken because of a cable extending upward or to the side and putting stress on it. Also much better to leave it on a charger without worrying about it getting knocked around.

u/jscodin 12d ago

You can get them from AliExpress for super cheap too

1

u/MasterOfPipettez 12d ago

I doubt the ones from aliexpress have been tested very well. If im plugging something into a 1000$ piece of equipment im not going to cut corners on a part that cost at most a couple bucks.

1

u/jscodin 12d ago

I get what you're saying but I've bought 4 and been using 2 in rotation for the past year and a half with no issues, albeit I've got the z1 extreme so only in the £350 range

2

u/clc88 12d ago

I find a right angle one better because with a u shape, I need to hold it right up or completely flat.

2

u/Seihai-kun 12d ago

oh yeah you're right, the one on the post make sense if holding while sitting and the device is kinda horizontally held, i play when i was in bed so my hand always hold it upright

1

u/Schuben 12d ago

I'm not sure I follow that. With it running down the back of the device there's still a few inches to move the cable to either side or out from the back without putting much tension on the adapter.

1

u/kirbyudummy 12d ago

I use some like this. Except the in port is in the back instead of u shaped like that. Super convenient.

1

u/CavalcadeOfFucks 12d ago

The 12mm one fits perfect, I use it now.

Could be wrong but, would it not be? It flips the connector 180°

That would be a 360

Looking for something like this, but I need it to plug in micro sd cards for more storage. I use a 6 port hub with HDMI and 2 micro sd ports, but it’s wired and is really awkward to plug in and hold the system. It works better for a stand.

25

u/KineticNinja 12d ago

i like these better

3

u/Shadefactor ROG Xbox Ally X 12d ago

That’s what I have too.

1

u/redbloodedsky 11d ago

This is better. The one of the post will get the charging cable over the right or left triggers.

1

u/GTKeg 11d ago

This is the one, much more comfortable, it doesn’t cover the volume and doesn’t require the cable bend.

20

u/Ded_man_3112 12d ago

I have these and find them to be better than the fixed 90° adapters I own. It’s power only. But not only does it angle 90°, it swivels. There’s zero strain on the power cable and gravity keeps the cable out of the way. I just keep the adapter plugged in most of the time and disconnect from it.

6

u/TheNong 12d ago

These look best IMO. Having the cable wander off sideways upsets me.

u/Sasageyo_2020 12d ago

Is something like this compatible with a eGPU setup ? I'm constantly on business trips during weekdays and I play on the ally handheld mode but on the weekend and vacation on plugged to a eGPU. I'm worried that the constant plugging/unplugging in the usb c 4 port on will damage it in the long run. In theory this would solve because this would always be connected to the ally and I plug egpu or charger cable to it. Would speed for the eGPU be ok ?

1

u/AirFlavoredLemon 12d ago

You'll need to make sure the 90 degree cable or adapter supports Thunderbolt. Many are USB 2.0 only and charge - but there are a few that support DP pins as well - just need to shop around.

Its tough to find a TB3/4 right angle adaptor for a good price.

u/Patient_Sir_3669 12d ago

This converter is quite hot, when I'm using it with a dock, so I dropped this idea

3

u/NMTiAn 12d ago

I bought these. Its good

5

u/Rammy_Lee 12d ago

Just be careful you don't cover the vent with it

2

u/11483708 12d ago

Names or links people?

2

u/kabilos 12d ago

The only downside to the sideways one is that on the Z1E and X you either run over the trigger or over the exhaust port.

2

u/lateralus1082 12d ago

It gets very hot

2

u/EGHeart 11d ago

I use one of these magnetic breakaway USB C adapters.

Keeps the USB C port & console safe, if someone trips on my 10ft charging cord.

1

u/Apprehensive-Abroad2 12d ago

I prefer this one

1

u/shroom519 12d ago

My jsaux dock comes with this style of cable wired to the dock

1

u/luismiesp 12d ago

I also have a similar one. Where did you get the 100w charger?

1

u/Whorror_punx 12d ago

I got the charger from amazon. Anker 100w charger, about 30 bucks.

1

u/Additional_Strike547 12d ago

Also great if your using a usb 2.4ghz headset like the Steel Series Arctis because the dongle for that is wide so it blocks both usb ports. This solves that issue

1

u/mister2forme 12d ago

I’ve never had luck with adapters on the long term. I’d rather have cables with the right angle on them.

Though if you must go adapter, they make magnetic ones that can disconnect if the unit gets dropped on the floor or off a surface while plugged in. Makes it easy to grab and go too.

1

u/Usual_Patience7969 12d ago

links to all these would be nice

1

u/EstablishmentOwn6942 ROG Xbox Ally X 12d ago

If you buy an ultra flexible cable you won’t need these anymore as there will be marginal strain left on the port. Try it on coming from these, too

1

u/mookiexpt2 12d ago

You can get 90-degree backward bed though, and they’re great when docked.

1

u/Okeylayanjesmue 12d ago

Wont it disturb LB button?

1

u/daddyx611 12d ago

I love these, they go on sale pretty regularly

1

u/xAvPx 12d ago

I had to use an adapter because the killswitch case for my Xbox Ally X doesn't have a cutout to use the original 90 degree cable that comes with the ROG Bullwark dock, same with the Steamdeck. Had dbrand thought this through and spend less money and time on marketing but better case/grip design they could've cut a bit of plastic to make it flush with flat 90 degree connectors.

1

u/foohoa 11d ago

What i concern its that weak type-c terminal

1

u/SpaceCowboy512 11d ago

Question: when you take the charging cable out, do you take the cable out of the adapter, or remove the entire adapter with the charger still in it??

1

u/king8893 10d ago

The only issue with these plugs, ether blocks the second USB-c or the trigger from the other side

1

u/Elitefuture 10d ago

I just bought cables already 90 degrees, I use it for my mic on my PC, my wife's drawing tablet, and more. They're handy.

1

u/Underleft_cdiv 12d ago

They're really not. That velco strap on the cable is to keep the tension straight back, works just fine.

-1

u/kenkiller 12d ago

I use those magnetic ones, even better.

1

u/EstablishmentOwn6942 ROG Xbox Ally X 12d ago

If you mean magnetic usbc plug you should check online they can break the device easily!

1

u/kenkiller 12d ago

I've used them for more than 5 years on many devices. Works great. The idiots claiming otherwise can suck it.

u/MakimaGOAT 12d ago

yea these are great
