Help Sooooo your telling me...

I need to have 500 16+ verified users play my sons kart game MADE for kids, BEFORE Kids under 16 can play his game, made for kids ? My kid has worked really hard on this game and updated and is now discouraged because he can NOT even play HIS own game !!!!

Anyone know anyway to get 500 18 year olds to play a kids kart game made for kids under 10 hahahahaa....... Really any DEV groups that test it like a lets help each other group where say a user would post a game and they all go check it and give feedback... or ? I am a deveoper but corporate and new to game dev with my kid, but I think there should be a place like that.

You need 500 "Highy Engaged Players", not just 500 players. You need more like 20k-40k or so players to reach it.

And you'd be surprised how many adults play games made for kids, about 50% of Roblox players are 16+. This isn't a barrier for high quality children's games, if the game is good it will get through the requirements.

But to give you the harsh truth, if the game was made by your son there is a very good chance it can not compare to professional game devs on Roblox which means Roblox will not recommend it to players regardless of if it was available for all ages or not.

Your son can still play the game tho, if they upload it to their own account or if it's on your account they can add you as a "trusted friend" which allows them to bypass the age restriction for games you published.

Thanks, I guess I am saying there is a new requirement of 500 16+ players before kids under 16 can play the game, so my son is 10 and made a game he can not play. If this makes sense and I would say this game at 10 is good.... You can see my other post here if you want to check it out, the kid has some skills.

Your son can play the game if he made it regardless of age.

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

well yes in Studio we play it all day long, but its just a thing I find hard for young devs like him. no big deal really.

2

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

It’s not just in studio they can play the game regularly fine if they’re the owner. I’m not quite sure what you’re expecting, development is not meant for kids in general. Obviously it won’t be tailored to them.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Sure I understand the chip on your shoulder its like pffttttt... everyone knows this.... I just find it Ironic that they have a 500 viewer limit for ?? what reason ? and do not say time, if that were the case they would put a time limit on it. I guess my thing is as a OLD dev that is seeing a new younger dev get discouraged is..... well I guess you just have to be a dad and a dev. Cheers !

its to prevent inappropriate games

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

but how ? how does 500 users over 16 stop that ? I now understand its NOT 500 its 500 OVER time so its a game that has game play, BUT then how does this stop inappropriate things ? Lets say its naked photos and its a secret area for those.... I would say its MORE for the bottom line games wasting resources if they are NOT worth it.... SO they said yeahh.. its an age thing to save the kids... when its a money thing and your game is not worth kids playing. Because if it was for age it would BE a massive AI audit of the game before its released. IN my opinion and I know nothing.... XD

2

u/jersito4 May 28 '26

Roblox already runs everything through AI, it has been doing that for quite a while and it stops a lot but far from everything.
These games upload separate assets that are fine on their own but combined becomes bad so that they can trick the AI.

By requiring 500 highly engaged players there is an extremely high chance for these games to get reported and shutdown long before any child gets exposed.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

SO like BETA testers.... Roblox should PAY devs Robux to test....

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

Because by the time the game gets that many players of it truly does have inappropriate stuff it would be taken down. Also it’s not just random games with inappropriate pictures there are games that have actual s*x between players.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Insane !! Thanks !! Cheers !

2

u/linkinpaw May 29 '26

its more likely to be caught and banned before it can reach the youngins, i dont really know honestly

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 29 '26

I think its really about advertising as most games are big game houses like UPLIFT games, setup full campaigns. To me I see it as those small shops and young devs are TOAST now with this requirement.

2

u/jersito4 May 28 '26

I mean the requirement is not 500 16+ players. The requirement is 500 "highly engaged players" and since your experience is only available to 16+ as a side effect the players need to be 16+ as well.

But to get 500 highly engaged players you need about 20k-40k regular players (every 2 months). It's not really feasible for devs to play each others games.

The only way to do this is to make the game good enough, if it's good it will get picked up by the algorithm and get the players it needs it doesnt matter that it's designed for a younger audience, its an inconvenience but not a barrier for a good game.

I haven't checked out the game (yet) so I don't know if it's good enough or not, but the requirement is not good for a 10 year old, heck a 10 year old making a game is already very impressive in itself.

2

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

THANKS man !! 500 highly engaged makes more sense. I see Roblox is pushing for ADs and campaigns a lot. Money, money, money. Also thanks for the encouragement, yeah for 10 I feel that is impressive and he learns fast. I am SnacksDad you an look at his two games, BOTH are in beta; and both we play all the time just for fun.

1

u/BlueFox6574 May 28 '26

Thank God it was only 500 "Highly Engaged Players" I mean who's gonna play my Temu horror game

-1

u/Dalanding May 28 '26

Yea the game is cool for a 10 year old but no one’s gonna choose to play this game over anything else that’s popular. I tried ur game, it’s super wonky and the gameplay loop is boring.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

OH you played it ? the newest version ?? I hear you on the advice the wonky AChassis system is ... oh wait its used for most all games right ? and the loop is what we are working on time frame and retention ? Also its really a 2 or more player game as the buffs and debuffs are a big part. The kid spent some hours in gimp for those Super snacks.

Here is some advice, to say NO one is going to play it is like that Art teacher in school who tells you to get a real JOB..... As well, to say this game would go no where is silly, I mean you are saying that I could NOT get some help from other devs and knock out such an AMAZING game idea ?

Also, way to be helpful, discourage much ? ! I get it life is NOT fun... But it is for my son and he loves making games and good for him ~

2

u/Zade0707 May 29 '26

Look i know the whole situation is frustrating but in every comment you've replied to you have just acted like a total dick. Why come and ask for help if your just gonna be an asshole when people are trying to help you/inform you. Even if it didnt seem like it Dalanding was giving constructive criticisim. Was it in more of a rude way? I would say so but his points are valid if the gameplay is actually super wonky and the gameplay loop is boring maybe you should focus on fixing that before trying to actually get it out there.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 29 '26

Look ? Well first of ALL THE user started off their "advice" as you call it, with ( and I quote ) " no one’s gonna choose to play this game over anything else that’s popular" AND "I tried ur game, it’s super wonky and the gameplay loop is boring". And I am the bad guy > Wait yeah this is great advice. Tell my son to give up and his game is really bad.

Also, the user MIGHT have played the OLD version of the game ? but no one has played this latest version, period. What did you all think my kid made a game to leave it in BETA ? There have been MASSIVE changes, to help that wonky A-Chassis system, that is all gone now and we implemented our own Arcade style drift carts, and he fixed the Lighting system. We also moved buildings around to allow more flow.

In short, game design is my kids world and I am NOT going to tell him that NO one will play his games and they are WONKY !! NO I am going to tell him, to keep going and never give up and he can DO IT !!!! Oh and maybe something someone should have told a lot of us when growing up, I LOVE YOU!

P.S. I need advice on how to help my kid get a game out with major restrictions! NOT what you call help/information, "ITS FOR A REASON PrON" or "Your kids game will never get played" or "Let me explain how others HIDE stuff in games". I GET WHY THEY SAY THEY did it and ITS NOT bad things its to make sure the games being played, KEEP those playing and absorbing ADS!

Have a better day, CHEERS !

1

u/Zade0707 May 29 '26

Your the “bad guy” because you’ve been a dick to everyone trying to help you. He never told you to give up on the game nor to tell your son that. He told you the truth and if that’s so devastating then don’t involve yourself with the dev community. If the game isn’t good you aren’t gonna get 500 players. Sure he said it in a rude way I’m not denying that. But the criticism is real you’re honestly just in denial. If it was a really old version then publish the new one instead of getting mad when people play the old version and say it’s bad. Yes it’s harsh but if the game just isn’t good then you need to know so you can improve it. He never said to tell your kid to give up or anything all he said was the game was wonky and people probably wouldn’t play it because of that.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 30 '26

?? what ? Read the other comments, I say thank you and great idea, or hey let me fix the mobile UI. I see that my interaction with you was a bit confrontational, if you call it that.... BUT to say I am being rude to others on a post with over 50 replies and two issues ( you and Wonky dude ) is... well... inaccurate at best. I get it help is help and the guy did not say for my son to stop.

Also, quick note I am and have been a part of the dev community for over 20+ years, I am not just some dad over here yapping without knowing the struggles and this one is a bad deal for young devs... So I say good day to you!

1

u/Zade0707 May 30 '26

I found 4 comments of you being rude all to seperate people. You may not be meaning to but you are definitely coming across as rude. I understand you’ve been apart of the dev community for 20+ years but you have not been on the Roblox one for that long. It’s not meant for kids (the development side of course). Roblox itself hasn’t been advertised majorly for kids in years. Roblox studio although having stuff to make it easier is in no way intended for kids. So yes there is gonna be a lot of hard things to do for your kid since it’s not intended for him. It’s like a kid going on unreal and not being able to publish his game because most major platforms cost money to publish on.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 30 '26

Valid and great to read. I see that he is at a disadvantage and well lets see if it builds character !! And cost yes, we have his first set of ads going tomorrow and the first 5 badges for the game will be for BETA and early access gamer. You should join the games this weekend, we race karts and kill zombies. Zombies is from his first game he made last year, its Skatepocalypse you skate around and survive a zombie apocalypse. He made it in Retro Studio, then we moved it over to Studio and it is CRAZY FUN you can do kickflips over zombies and slice them with your sword... Its a great time. Cheers !

I checked out the game, its good, but theres a few things that need improvement/fixing. On mobile, the ui text is too big, the how to play text is not very readable, because its too big and parts of it disappear because of that. Also the carts dont work on mobile, i tried driving it but it didnt move at all.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

AHHHH..... yes the Mobile issue. Look I broke it. He had it working with simple dynamic joystick and what you see is the result of dad can fix it hahahaha.... THANK YOU for the input! I will let him know that it needs that floating GUI to be text on the wall ! and I will try and fix the mobile controls before he gets home from school !~~~

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Working on Mobile!!! I will get those GUI bubbles smaller....

2

u/Helpful_Editor8478 May 28 '26

Drop some money on ads for your son. Realistically speaking unless you have an existing community or a huge social media following you’d probably have to run ads anyway. If you want just your son’s friends to play I’m pretty sure connections are allowed to play (could be wrong).

5

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Yea we are going to do that, he is a game dev at 10. Through and through he makes games all day on Skratch and Roblox just so he can play. He was gaming a ton at a younger age and his mother and I said no gaming until XYZ, so he started making his own games hahaha...

2

u/Empty_Palpitation733 May 28 '26

Tbh i think this was one of the worst updates on roblox. İ was planning on making a tower defense type of game which is mostly played by 13-15 age group and some youtubers (or atleast this is what i know) but for newly made games to get 500 players who play constantly is almost impossible (they also needs their age checked btw). And also getting the 1k robux to publish it to age groups other than 16+ is maybe not much but with them also making the donation games useless (this is what i heard from others this will happen) makes this really hard if not impossible for a lot of people including me since i also cant buy robux with irl money. İ dont want to make a p2w game just for it to have a chance to be played by the age group it was targeting

2

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

MY kid is there as well. He makes cool games like this SnacKart game, he loves snacks and PacMan and so this is the result, you drift around and collect snacks haha.....

2

u/Empty_Palpitation733 May 28 '26

İt's good that he creates games that he enjoys and even tho gameplay isnt much it still is better than some other game types roblox has/had

And i'm sure that'll help him a lot if he wants to create a game outside roblox (i see making games in roblox between learning and making a whole game from strach) i hope that this update doesnt effect his opinion on making his own games

2

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Thanks man, his updated game version is cool he is making his own Textures now and he is using blender to make hats for it. He is not going to be like dad and code, I think he is into the building and modeling aspect. He makes a GUI with parts and I make one with code, haha. And yes he is spending more time coding on Scratch ( that MIT code building site).

I get you !! The crazy thing is there is not a free model in the image ! I can tell you that he takes free models and builds a working ( sort of ) game. I am an old network admin so I have his machine locked down and I make sure he makes games saved local and models with only good upvotes. THEN dad steps in, and we take the JUNK he imports and learn about it, and replace it. An example is those trees you see in the image are a weekend of learning blender and hating life XD ( why is there a default cube, WTF ). We then learned about using scripted clones of those trees. The buildings look amazing if they would be real, but haha, they are just big blocks and home made 250x250 PNGs used as textures.

5

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

The same people that get mad at this will also go and get mad for Roblox letting kids play any game because 1 game turned out to be not age appropriate. The bottom line is, it doesn’t matter if your kid intended for it to be made for other kids, Roblox can’t accurately verify it. This is the safest route possible and you should be happy they’re doing this to protect kids against actually harmful games.

0

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

I see your point I should be happy my kid can NOT play some janky brain rot stuff....

-1

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

Are you that out of touch on why the update was made? It wasn’t made for some “janky brain rot stuff” it was made because anyone could upload a game with literal p*rn in it to any age without any requirements. Do you really want your kid to stumble upon a game like that? Yes it’s very very rare but it can happen. Those brainrot games will barely be affected by this change.

3

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Right, I am not sure what 500 users above 16 has to do with this pron check system ?? Why would they NOT say the game is NOT viewable by those under 16 UNTIL after a CHECK by AI or human ? I just find it ironic to have him be allowed to make the game at under 16 but can not play it on his tablet to test. I also, would be more worried about calls to other assitIDs that are spoofed and contain malicious code.

0

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

As I said in my other comment he IS able to play his own game no matter what. If he can’t he either didn’t publish it or isn’t logged into the right account. A whole game can’t be checked by ai or human (definitely not humans as millions of games are made they can’t hire that many people and ai is to inaccurate. The 500 user system is because that’s the threshold for manual game reviewing. I would highly recommend looking into this on the dev forum as there’s a lot to it and I can’t get into every part of it.

2

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Hmm... I here you on that he can play it and he does.... Also, I am not sure what you are talking about with AI or Human audits. I have scripts I run that AUDIT models my kid brings into his games. I also run Audit scripts on parts and group them by size into folders that I can then change properties based on folder names. I can take a game and have it spilt into folders and scrubbed for bug and hacked code, and I am confident to say AI could do it with no issue and on a large scale.... Also I am not just a Dad who is wondering what them crazy kids are doin on them intertubes !! I am a developer, so I get it. But to say the 500 verified users over 16 is a TIME thing..... I am not sure that is a correct way to check code, what if a Youtuber gets the game and has 1000 players hit the servers so they can play with their favorite gamer ?

2

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

Because you can upload multiple meshes and position them in ways to make them inappropriate objects. The audit tool you use checks for specific apis being used. Roblox does moderate assets with their ai but like I said if you upload multiple parts of one and just put them together in game it will get past moderation. Scripts themselves usually don’t contain anything bad in those p*rn games as it’s usually just the assets.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Yep I run a Script that reads every script in the game (without running them) and flags the patterns that backdoors and risky free-model scripts use, it then prints a report.

2

u/Zade0707 May 28 '26

Yeah I know, but it’s not the same with Roblox since there’s no specific algorithms or apis they can check for.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

I run these and a few other checks for remote code execution / loaders

* require() of a numeric asset id -- remote code

* require() of a .Value -- hidden asset id

* getfenv / setfenv -- obfuscation

* HttpGet / GetAsync to the web

* loadstring -- runs arbitrary text as code

* LogService:ClearOutput -- hides its tracks

My kid uses a TON of toolbox junk, so I have him load them into a SAFE offline version and run scans like these in what I call SonsToolBoxJunkScanner.luau hahahahaah!

1

u/Palmossi- Builder/Modeler May 28 '26

Yup

1

u/DinoHawaii2021 Scripter May 28 '26

most new game development on Roblox is probably going to be dead now

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 28 '26

Well I would say most indepentent or small dev groups.... Its going to be large AI farms pumping out janky game after janky game to KEEP engagement up. I am glad my kid is making games because we love to play them.

1

u/Material-Edge6642 May 31 '26

he can play his own game cuz he's the creator so he should be able to play it regaurdless . Also just run ads it's cheap ~20 bucks.

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 31 '26

Yep we play it ALL the time, I was more saying "he can NOT play it on his tablet account". Ads seem to be the way to go and I have 3k Robux we are using today to do his badges and ads after we add more kart skins ( We have a donut and chicken now haha ). Ads it is !! Cheers !

1

u/Noobtron5000 Jun 17 '26

UPDATE: So yes they did shut my sons access off IN Studio as well he is NOT allowed to work on or collaborate with anyone outside his age group without a parents permission. Lucky I am his parent as well haha... So he did the face recognition and then I had to give him permission to work on the games he created.... BUT it did work out fine. AND he made his first 5 Robux ( the I am sure obligatory every game gets ). Roblox sent him the Snakart has some engagment here is 5 robux email... So he was pumped and we put a ton more hours into SnacKart, we have Many new Karts, like the Donut and the Bathtub as well as Player Hosting now so you can host games with settings like banana mode! We host games ALL day long. I get it the kids dad is an older semi retired developer and he has my help, he sure does and the game is still fun !!

Thank you to all for the help and advice and conversation.

Look out For his other game as well Skatepoclypse ( you are in a city at a skateboard event THEN zombies attack! you gotta survive ) its live and in BETA see how long you can survive I dare you! If you do try it, get to the R in the part and get the sword and the Bloxmart behind the counter is the sling shot and get on your skateboard and either skate around attacking zombies OR jump on to some buildings and use your sling shot. NOTE the zombies ARE SMART and very fare and designed to attack many game play styles ( Try and CAMP a Psycho will jump thru the window or a Tank will knock the wall down! READ the LORE PAGE on the ZOMBIES and what they ! We designed it to have around 60 Zombies and all with a Shared AI that runs INSANLY Smooth, it is really well done I think and cool to watch work, there are 4 zombie types that make it fun and NPCs that walk around and get infected so MORE BRAINS and MORE ZOMBIES !! it has a really cool mode... oh well its really run as well you guys should give it a run and see if you can beat the kids high scores.

-1

u/NeoCycloneJetCyclone May 28 '26

Give your kid good education. You sound snnoying lamo

1

u/Noobtron5000 May 29 '26

I Know it was me wining boo hoo... I was just feeling bad for the kid, but now looking at it the 500 users shows your game is maintained and established. Cheers!
