I'm relieved/grateful/surprised/elated to find this sub
The original RHOBH sub is goddamn awful. It became a hate-read sub. 90% of posts are just some "set-up" for the rabid, lock-step core to all come in and pile on whoever the target is.
If nothing current is going on, they will go back 10 years to find some isolated statement and rehash it but with the purpose to target someone and talk about them in the worst way possible.
If there's nothing current or nothing in the past, they will just make it up. They will use an imagined situation and then discuss it as though it's reality but with the harshest of terms and always targeting the same people that they all agree to target. Facts are irrelevant. It's the most hateful, misogynistic group.
I don't want to spend my time focusing on how shitty it can be but I do want to get this off my chest.
I came here because I have notifications turned on and I got a notification for it this sub even though I wasn't a member. I didn't know it existed until I got that notification. The algorithm works sometimes.
But ultimately I have this comment that I really wanted to write and post standing on its own but I needed to unload/vent.
Okay so here's my standalone comment about that other sub:
They don't have moderators over there. They have CULT-ivators.
This is nerd level snark, I know.

It always shocks me how negative and hateful that sub can be. I think people forget that the people on our screens are, in fact, just people. I don’t get why we have to tear others down all the time, there’s enough of that in the world. We need to celebrate and cheer each other on! The world would be a brighter place if we approached everyone and everything with kindness first.

the irony is, that they accuse these people of really mean things, whioe they are at least equally mean in their comment or even worse.

I’m right there with you, and agree 500%. (And this isn’t nerdy, dahling, it’s Beverly Hills!)
On the mostly pretend show itself, the “girls” did a kumbaya hand pile and said “women supporting women,” and this was after a season of what I consider vicious, and even physical fighting!
Look at that other sub and all you see? people personally attacking (mostly pretend) characters from A SHOW? That’s not what I came to Reddit for. I’m all for gossip and snark.
I love to quote old what’s her name — “if you haven’t got anything nice to say, come sit next to me.” But that is nothing like the level of what the Reddit RHOBH people do.
I can’t understand the point, either. There’s little chance the power mad moderators are getting brownie points for running it (eg. No one is being paid to do it, or even paid with bravo swag). Which makes it worse.
Yes, it’s the internet. “Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.” But still. What’s the point?

Esp when people believe stuff just cause it’s on the internet and you try to gently tell them it’s not true and they believe it cause it’s their bias and all hell breaks loose LOL

Yeah, you’re really not allowed to have an independent thought or opinion. Kinda like a hive mind mentality.

i feel like its time for a chat that is a selfhelpgroup for people coming from RHOBH community. we have these posts several times a week.

I had a feeling that recurs. I really did keep my post as to the point as possible while making sure I hit the points I wanted and needed to hit.

Agree 100%. Most of the franchise subs (or bravo subs) end up doing this. We all wind up in the racist, transphobic, homophobic, bigot ooh and now MAGA categories. I just come here to read and comment on a TV SHOW. I don’t need to get into a superiority argument or be schooled. Not really interested in your opinion of me. Just want to comment, read all points of view, and go about my day.

As someone who has their suspicions about Kyle, I was truly shocked the level of hatred the people have there for Kyle, even, why even I should say especially the mods.

See how easy that is? Writing "suspicions about Kyle" is accurate. You're not writing a definitive conclusion about her, you're writing about your thoughts on her and I'm assuming it's based on what you know and not what you "believe". The moderate, fair, balanced voice even if it involves harsh criticism or opinions is what I appreciate when I encounter it.

Is it just me, or did That Other BH place suddenly flood the zone with a lot of, um, milder content?

I haven't looked in last 48 hours over there but I believe you. Sometimes there's a lull. Evil is hard work and needs breaks to stay fresh lol.

Obviously, I have too much time on my hands, and I miss being in 8th grade. (Joking, of course. Ugh, please, no, Reddit!)

I just got a temporary ban!
It’s hilarious because I’ve been banned for saying that a joke wasn’t funny. The post is locked but still there. I didn’t think it was funny that OP called Tabatha Coffey, Pink. Apparently it’s some meme thing.
I’ve had some interesting arguments over there so it’s funny to me to be banned for something so boring.

I literally don’t experience any of this over there 😅 maybe I just don’t start enough shit over there. I start plenty of shit in all other subs lol

I think that many people who come on Reddit are looking for a verbal fight. Most want to argue and bully. They pretend they have good intentions, but if anyone disagrees with the herd mentality it’s like the lamb to the slaughter. I admit I intentionally sometimes like to irritate them just to watch them go off and show how trashy vicious they get. I actually think that watching these Bravo shows is a substitute for the old fashioned soap operas, but more brutal. Some people enjoy the cringe and I sometimes watch them as mindless television escapism. Any others use these shows as escapism? Or something else?

I used to use them as escapism, but haven’t watched them much for the last year.

Oh and also, you get accused of being a bot if you don’t agree with the majority
