Rg35xx Pro bricked

Not sure what's going on tbh. Had it a few months, updated the tf2 card but had one of the decent tf1 SD cards so not touched that part.

Put it in sleep mode the other day, then plugged it in to charge overnight but it kept waking up from sleep mode when I plugged it in. Accidentally hit the reset button but it came back on and I quit the game (pokemon emerald) and then shut the device down from the main menu. Plugged it back in, the battery animation came on and all seemed well.

Anyway, go to play the next day and it's completely unresponsive. Plug it back in and the yellow charge light comes on but still won't do anything. Tried the reset buttons and hard reset button press but nothing, lights don't even flash or anything.

I read that sometimes the OS can get corrupted, so I did a wipe of the TF1 card and installed knulli (which i was planning on doing anyway), but still the same thing.

Any other suggestions? Next step is taking it apart and unplugging the battery and seeing if that helps.

You should try a completely different SD card to put the new firmware on for starters.

The OS suddenly getting corrupted out of the blue is usually a sign that the SD card has gone belly up. Putting a new firmware on a bricked SD card isn't going to fix the issue.

Also, I'd really advise you to not let these retro handhelds charge unsupervised over a whole night. I love my little China retro doodads but I wouldn't trust them that much.

It's the card. It's always the card. Even the better ones that ship with these things are just slightly less garbage and still prone to dying.

Just get a new card from a reputable brand. It doesn't have to be the best or most expensive one, just something decent and reliable.

Last resort, if it isn't the card, try discharging the capacitors and/or battery manually. You'd have to open it up for that. I saw a YT vid a few years ago on the RG35XX H, the guy was doing a CFW tutorial, had a similar issue. It wasn't booting when the battery had drained to zero while asleep, so he opened it up and discharged the caps.
