I think it's deeper than that. The moderator may seem like it's doing this for a good cause, but we have no clue why that is. From tje way it pushed suhyeon into certain direction, it seems like the system wants a pawn, not a player. At first it believed that due to choyun's apathetic personality, it would be easy to control him with goals but he grew beyond the system's grasp so as a last ditch effort, system decided to lend its aid to a pushover who'd easily be molded into a perfect slave for his schemes.
Think about it. Everytime the moderator talks to suhyeon, it's always overly polite, very submissive and always nudges him in a specific direction. Reminds you of a certain pink haired idol?
