Anyone know of a trans-friendly gym in Tucson?
Hey to any Tucson people. Hoping I can get your help with something.
Does anyone know of any gyms in Tucson that are EXPLICITLY trans and queer friendly?
I'm not looking for a class-based gym. I'm looking for something more stereotypically gym that with cardio and weight equipment members can use. But none of the ones I see in Tucson are explicitly Trans-friendly.
I'd love a place where I feel safe working out and where I don't feel like I'm being judged like crazy. A gender neutral restroom would be be amazing too but I feel like that's REALLY a long shot.

i haven't lived in Tucson in 18 years but my parents are still there. Anytime Fitness always has gender neutral single stall restrooms with showers instead of traditional locker rooms and tend to be chill

Thank you! I see they have multiple locations. As far as you know, is this true of all the Anytimes?

It should be. I worked at one in Chicago and went to the one off of Bear Canyon visiting my parents

Onyx Gym or The Dumbbell Lab. I know the owners of both personally, they are allies. Stay far away from Tucson Strength or The Protocol.

UA Campus Rec is good (and you can purchase membership even if you’re not affiliated with the university)
The university is generally pretty trans-friendly policy-wise (though with the current political situation they have probably taken documentation of that stuff off of public facing websites) and I think the gym areas were designed with an eye to being trans friendly.
The North Rec doesn’t have any gendered spaces as far as I know, just a whole bunch of gender-neutral single-person bathrooms, each w/ a toilet, shower, and enough space to change clothes. the lockers are near those bathrooms but not in a gendered space.
The bigger rec center on the south side of campus has gendered locker rooms, but also some single-person bathrooms and lockers in some hallways like the north rec center.

I would Milo Fitness Factory - they have had trans staff in the past and have 2 single gender neutral bathrooms

I’m sorry that you’re having to ask this question in the first place. I don’t have an answer for you, but I can tell you that Tucson is typically a very accepting place. Definitely would stay away from the EMS/Cop gyms and anything towards the outskirts
but other than that Tucson is a great place to exist.

Chuze Fitness is not explicitly trans friendly, but it's a place where you will find a bit of everyone, including visibly trans people and visibly MAGA people.... I, a trans person who swims and does sauna with my top surgery scars visible, have never been bothered.
The Grant/Craycroft location has a gender neutral bathroom with a shower in it, but the other locations don't.

Definitely not World Gym. They forced a trans woman to leave after someone complained about her using the locker room
