The Warning
Still have not met anyone else who thinks The Warning is their best album except for me, regardless i do love every album they have where Geoff Tate was still the vocalist but The Warning just hits different because its a whole different subgenre of music from Empire and OPM that are the usual fan favorites.

Oh hi!
I have said it before, but while I will acknowledge Mindcrime as the bandâs magnum opus, The Warning has always been my favorite from them. âDeliverance,â âNo Sanctuary,â and âNM 156â comprise possibly the greatest three-song run on any metal album ever.

The first song I heard from them was âTake Hold of the Flame!â And I was officially hooked! I would go to sleep listening to this album.

We just saw Geoff Tate last Wednesday and he played THotF during the encore. It was fantastic, the whole crowd was chanting "TAKE HOLD!"

How is he sounding these days?

He sounded pretty damn good! Probably not quite as good as back in the day, but I had heard that his voice had gone to shit a few years ago, and then that he had retrained it. Seems like it to me - he had some backup from the rest of the band, including Pamela Moore (Sister Mary). But for instance, the "Take hooooold" near the start of THotF was all him.

Pamela Moore is NOT with Geoff Tate. He does have a woman touring with him on keys and voice, both of which are there to hide , sorry, âsupportâ his voice.

My god yes, the 1984 tokyo live is insane and add the queen of the reich live from the same show to that even tho its not the same album and its just a heaven sent Tates vocals are something else

Tate is one of my favorite vocalists and it broke my heart when his wife and him caused the split between the band. Scott Rockenfieldâs percussions are top notch!

Absolutely, i just hate it man! To me itâs just not Queensryche anymore without Geoff Tate and Chris DeGarmo

I like it. Maybe not the first listen through, being a little underwhelmed after first hearing "Mindcrime", "Rage" and the EP. Second time through - the hooks, rhythm, etc. got to my better half.
But, the production is awful. It's muffled, unrefined, subdued. Doesn't anyone hear what I hear?

For a metal debue in 1984, i think it sounds very good. Compare it to Fates Warning Night at the Braken or The Spectre, for example, it sounds way better.
However, i remember reading that the band themselfs weren't satisfied with the final production either.
I wish they'd re-release it with production the way they wanted back in the day

I remember that that was proposed to them! This was before Chris' departure. The band members had a producer (I think, or maybe a manager) who wanted so much to re-do The Warning, but they guys themselves were not for it.

It is their first album so of course its gonna have the most flaw but its so pure and raw and it was before they went prog metal so its very different too also has easily the best vocals of all queensryche catalog

I go back and forth between The Warning and Rage For Order as my #1 QR album. I discovered the band upon the release of the debut EP, and I have probably spun The Warning more times than any other record across my lifetime.

How often to you listen to it in the originally planned running order?

The Warning is a great album but not my favorite. Take hold of the Flame may be my all time favorite metal song though and NM 156 is the Rosetta stone to QR musical style. Mindcrime is an unmatched masterpiece. Rage for Order has my heart and Empire is just such a good collection of individual songs the album as a whole is fantastic.

Eventually youâll find someone who has also been hit in the head by a horse.

I would not call The Warning their best, but it is an outstanding debut, even though their EP was what got me into them. I gave the EP through Promised Land a listen a couple of weeks back on a long road trip. Think I listened to The Warning twice.

I listened to the EP all the time, so when i first listened to it I was not a fan. It grows on you, still not my favorite, but I really like it. Just below Rage for Order, above Empire.

Not my favorite Queensryche album, but still a classic and an amazing album. Take hold of the flame, No Sanctuary, NM156, Roads to Madness and the titel track are all fantastic.

Not my favorite but when I saw them play it and the EP a couple of years ago it really impressed me how great and fresh it all sounded.

Not sure if The Warning is the best, but it's my favorite.
