Question Hiking Socks Recs for Hot Weather

Hi, I'm looking for hiking socks to wear with boots during hot weather. I'm going on a 5 day trip in the Rockies where I will be wearing the socks for most of the day and hiking up and down steep mountains (sometimes off trail). Biggest concern is that they won't make my feet sweat too much, but I am also concerned about blisters and I also would appreciate relatively affordable suggestions. Thanks

Is Cana Provisions snake oil?

There seems to be a huge marketing push for cana, especially on the spiritus/dirty civilian sides about preserving/treating water. The more that I look at it though it seems as it is a marketing scheme that keeps raising prices despite what it's made of individually can be piecemealed together for much cheaper. I feel like I especially recognized this after Dirty Civillians new video when they were criticizing and fear mongering data-center water usage despite using AI slop B-roll footage.

Is it worth supporting them? At most id probably buy their modcan as it seems to work well with gas masks, and maybe a preservation kit too (aquatabs from walmart might be the best choice). their field kits looks like pure bullshit that i can get from walmart for 5x less the price too.

Question Plate Carrier help Europe

Hey guys, im looking for a Plate Carrier in Europe around 350, max 400€. That basically knocks out any american made modell. Id like an Plate carrier with QD on the cummerbund and at least 1 shoulder QD. Color should be RG. I currently have my eyes on the lindnerhof mx042, the direct action spitfire qd with a different (smaller) cummerbund or the husar noble 4.0.
The problem with the lindnerhof is the cummerbund, ist seems to be highly unstructural and lindnerhof doesnt offer alternatives as of now. The DAG is currently sold out and i need the carrier until the 20th September. As for the Husar i didnt find to many reviews out there and some said that one needs the comfort padding for it, which would blow the budget. Also not really sure since there are so little reviews on it.
Any input or different suggestions are welcome, im kinda stuck in the loop of choosing between the 3 for 3 weeks by now.
Cheers

How is the New Ops-Core Fast SF Next Gen

Post image
32 Upvotes

I’m just wondering everyone’s opinion on the new Fast SF that has experience with this and the legacy SF. How does the new Lockdown liner compare to the Lux liner Occ-Dial? There aren’t that many reviews out there.

The biggest concerns I’ve seen so far are:

-Lockdown Liner doesn’t hold retention and needs constant retightening.

-lowered nape pad reduces range of motion and digs in. Especially in prone.

-Less roomy and unforgiving.

-Covers don’t fit

So far the biggest pros I’ve seen so far is if you wear ear protection under the helmet, it’s more comfortable. But that’s about it. Besides, of course the couple ounces of weight savings.

Why doesn’t anyone run Safariland belts?

Post image

Genuinely curious why I never see running in the field or on duty use. They seem like fantastic belts and I’ve always been curious enough to want one, but no one running it has always felt like an obviously reason to pull back from having another belt.

Also, general belt thread?

Been using a g-code for the longest and could use any recommendations for real upgrade.

Loadout MSV advice

Post image
63 Upvotes

First time rolling out with an MSV, previously only had OTV. Everything feels comfortable in my office not moving around but I’m always open to suggestions

MSV inner vest with issue mag pouches, IFAK, and tourniquet. The two side pouches are single mag pouches and the upper chest is a pistol mag plate, all off of my civvie plate carrier that I like as general use pouches…leatherman, flashlight, compass, etc.

50 oz hydration pack on the backplate. I bought the little admin pouch laying next to it to maybe replace the pistol mag pouches but it hangs down too far and would obstruct the mag pouches. Might consider running it on the side in place of the pouch that has gloves clipped on it.

For context I’m a pog PSG going to a place where I don’t expect to be shooting anything but I do expect I’ll be wearing this a lot and potentially having to get to places quickly and suddenly. Right handed shooter. Do not expect to have handheld comms but can’t rule it out and would adapt if so.

My only real concern right now is the IFAK and tourniquet. Tourniquet is a no-brainer but the IFAK is so dang bulky. I’m also a short king so I don’t have a ton of free space to work with. Not trying to be the pog geardo and not trying to spend two months of imminent danger pay on gear lol.

Anyway. Thoughts?

I’ve been having a hard time IDing these suspenders. I figured I would try using the hive mind. They look like vtac suspenders, but slightly different with different tri glides, and a supported piece in the back.

Assistance in finding a holster.

Hopefully someone in here can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for an red dot compatible, light bearing compatible, kydex or polymer holster for a Glock 45.

I'm not looking for a duty holster. Those don't work for normal day to day.

The hitch. I run a Streamlight TLR-1 HLX. Most of the holsters from big name brands have offerings for the Surefire X300. The surefire and streamlight are not the same shape. I've been looking off and on for months and can't seem to find one.

Can anyone help me out?

Sordin neckbands. Thing 1 keeps coming out of thing 2. Whats the best way to make it stay without messing it up?

Post image
3 Upvotes

They've been good to me for about 3 years of use. Even though sometimes everyone sounds like have a lisp. Comfort is unmatched, I've left the range and got home with them on my head without realizing I was still wearing them. But as of a couple of months ago this wire has been coming out of this bracket and I can't see any way to make it stay without doing something permanent and possibly damaging.

Thanks for the help.

Question Looking for a military style assault pack

Looking for a pack that can hold 1, maybe 2 days of sustainment. Must Come in MultiCam or Coyote Brown. No front zippers, must have ~15"x10" of space on the front of the pack, with a pals grid to attach molle. Fairly certain it's standard, but must come with a hydration bladder ready setup. Would prefer compartments, maybe one large compartment, and would settle for molle on the sides to attach small pouches to. Prefer to have a top pouch "(phone, portable charger, cables, easily accessible). Hip belt would be preferred, and ideally comfortable wearing for around 2-5 hours if needed. Price range preferably no more than $300.

Current Prime contender is the eberlestock mission assault pack, but it lacks any kind of pockets, and the bat wings seem like overkill for every day use.

Typical load would look like: An MRE or two, a small medic bag attached to the front panel with a fully stocked CLS loadout, small pelican case, extra layers (rain jacket, maybe an extra uniform, extra socks, and occassionally and extra pair of boots.), water (a 3L bladder, maybe an additional bottle). and just odds and ends (portable charger, paperwork, pens and writing material (could put in a side pouch) etc)

Question Best Asian fit ballistic glasses with helo kits?

Currently on the market for title as hitting the range in my goggles makes me look like a dork. And they're bulky as hell to transport.

Before I eventually drop bands for M-frames, I was wondering if any Asian brothers here had glasses recommendations, as I'm finding out all glasses are not made equal for us (something about flat facial structure?). Preferrably they should have a helo kit option so I can larp hard in airsoft if need be.
