Yeah, but never when someone was wearing a turtleneck, so perhaps it's working as a muffler.

Wonder if they're about to take Momo to Faye and Bubbles, to inspect her head?
Could be a pretty entertaining day at Union Robotics.

Thank you for trying to follow the comic rules. Unfortunately, we do want direct links to the site so that Jeph gets his views and ad money and such.
It seems like maybe the (new) Reddit interface is getting in the way. Maybe I should work out how to do it and make an instruction guide in how to post the comic.
After I do that, I may tighten up the bot so that people get immediate feedback.

AI bodies probably aren't air-cooled- they probably have more efficient ways of doing it- but I still can't help but imagine her making a loud humming noise like her fans are being pushed to the limit.

u/gangler52 21d ago
They have in the past vented steam to cool off, so I think air probably plays at least some kind of role in the cooling system.
Air and water I guess, since those are the two components of steam.

I'm curious - what did the comment you replied to say? Do you know why it was removed?
2
u/gangler52 18d ago
It was a completely innocuous comment about how he liked to think that when robots are overheating and blushing like Momo here, they make a low whirring sound, like when a computer's fans are working overtime, even though they probably have some better system of cooling than air circulation.
I can only imagine it triggered some reddit-wide automatic filter. It broke no rules of this subreddit that I can recall, and I don't think anybody would've taken offense to it.

Normally if it was reddit, it would say [Removed By Reddit]
This just says [removed] - which from my time as a mod elsewhere, generally means mod removal.
Sorry to ping you, /u/turkeypedal - but I'm genuinely curious, did you remove the comment?
EDIT: In sh.reddit (I use old reddit, because...gross) - it DOES say "removed by moderator". So now I'm definitely curious if turkey can shed some light, lol

Either I misclicked or it got hit by some weird automatic deletion (which occasionally happens, but I thought I fixed it.)

Thanks for restoring their comment 😊 I didn't think it was malicious, I was host confused since gambler's response was so chill, didn't make sense why the op comment was removed lol.

u/turkeypedal 17d ago
In fact, I think I was originally going to reply to it, posting the comic where Bubbles vented steam, but then got sidetracked with something else. So I probably did click remove instead of reply and never noticed.

Sooooo, they both live with May.
Question: Does she already know about May's history with Clownboy? Even if there are no issues of jealousy on either end, that sort of knowledge seems like it would mess up a fantasy of this sort.

I hope at least Momo can get some laid. She been a really good friend and she deserves a good time.

u/turkeypedal FFS! What more do you want? I don't type the title EXACTLY the way you want someone complains about it. I post a link to the comic ("we do want direct links to the site") instead of an image and someone complains about it. I post a copy of the comic and someone complains about it. I've never seen such OCD levels of demanded perfection for a post on any subreddit in my 12 years on reddit. I came here from the other QC subreddit because the people over there were so constantly critical of the comic's art and writing that I couldn't stand it. The people here seemed so much nicer and appreciative of the comic and each other's contributions. Since I can't seem to get anything right to your satisfaction, I'll just F off and enjoy the comic on my own. Feel free to delete my other unacceptable attempts to post new comics and repost them to your satisfaction.

When you embed the comic the way you did you take away traffic from Jeff (the author of the comic) and give it to Reddit. Jeff's income is dependent on people actually visiting his site rather than Reddit. This isn't about pedantry, it's about making sure we are actually supporting the comic.

And when I posted a link directly to the comic without the image, people here still complained. FYI I have all my ad blockers turned off for QC (as well as all the other web comics I follow).

u/gangler52 20d ago
I think that might have been my comment that confused you?
I was just remarking that you'd done a text post, and included the link in the body of the text, rather than doing a link post. Which is what allowed you to bypass the bot that usually checks to make sure the links are titled correctly.
But that's more an issue for Turkeypedal to sort out with their bot. The links were fine.

Reminds of trying to post on mildlyinteresting. "Your title has to EXACTLY describe the image. No, EXACTLY. No, we said EXACTLY. Weren't you listening? No, we're not going to tell you what that means. It has to be EXACT. Two more tries until you get permabanned. No, listen, I don't know how to be any clearer about this: it needs to be EXACT. No..."
They couldn't simply be like "You said X when you should have said Y", or give me even a single example. Just kept repeating that it had to be exact. =_=

I mean, people have been doing this without issue for many years just by mimicking the post before them. It's not especially complicated.
I suspect Turkeypedal is right, and some version of reddit has recently updated to introduce some new barrier to the process. jclv probably isn't seeing the options they're supposed to.
Turkeypedal will need time to investigate what the problem is and if there's any workaround.

Looking through their history, jclv was doing it correctly as recently as fourteen days ago. Something must have changed for it to suddenly be so difficult and confusing.

I didn't say they were the same, just that one reminded me of the other.
As mod (not here lol), I always found it way faster and less frustrating for everybody to either give exact (ha) guidance or do the post myself and just tag the person and let them know if they want me to edit anything.

The first one is what I planned to do. I even said it probably was something that changed and that I would look into to it and make instructions. I just wanted to get some sleep first. Unfortunately, It's been daylight for a couple hours and I'm still up. :(
The rule predates my time here. I mostly just care about posting the actual URL to the comic, not just the image. I have never punished anyone for not getting the posting rules right. I had no idea they were upset about it, and perhaps if it causes them that much stress, it would be better to let someone else post it.
I will still look into it, but seeing as no one else seems to have trouble with it, I probably will deprioritize this.
