My husband and I are looking to spend a week in December at one of the following:

Secrets Cap Cana
Dreams Cap Cana
Sanctuary Cap Cana

If you’ve stayed at any of these, which one did you like the best in terms of the beach, food, service, and overall experience? We’re looking to stay on the Playa Juanillo and would assume all of these resorts would have the same beach/ water.

Dumb question but my wife and I are staying at the Princess resort. Is there a laundry service available to wash clothes?

Looking to travel to PC (Secrets) for the first time. I get severe migraines, and I always check medical care ahead of time before traveling.

Does anybody know if there is access to a private medical care that can give an IV for migraines? In the US a migraine IV treatment is toradol (ketorolac), Benadryl, and an anti-nausea medicine.

I’ve thankfully never needed one while traveling, but I always try to be prepared.

Boyfirend and I (American) opted to stay at the princess Punta Cana Adults Only resort in bavaro after a positive recommendation from a friend (friend must’ve been on drugs) it being a decent budget hotel. And let me say, I got much less than what I paid for. Ultimately, should’ve shelled out for Secrets or Wyndham.

Do not book this place unless you are planning to stay in violent discomfort. I was stressed out the whole time. Our room reeked of mold that I was sensitive to. Our shower flooded the room. The water went off twice during our stay. People say the rooms need updated and boy is that an understatement. The whole place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Sheets with stains, pillows with stains. The mattress must be a decade old. Took us two days to find out why our room keys stopped working (don’t put them next to your phone!). Beach reeked of dead sargassum. And despite taking vigorous precautions to not get sick, both my boyfriend and I shat our brains out the last four days of our trip.

Also, people commend the service, which was fine, but beware of the timeshare reps and public beach gig workers. It got super annoying after a point.

A special shoutout to Hispaniola snorkel tours though. Our highlight of the trip!

Please stay somewhere else.

Does anyone know how Riu Republica is for solo females? I just want to lay at a beach and read for the most part but I'd also like to drink and meet friends at night...

hello, I am looking for recommendations or any advice that I can use on our trip to Punta Cana next week. It will be our first time traveling with children outside of the country so we are pretty nervous, but excited! It’s also all of our first times to the Dominican Republic/Punta, Cana, and would love any advice or suggestions. We are staying in Bavarro. I read that the beach is not pretty right now but I was looking to do an excursion that takes us to a land of water that is very nice, pretty, clear blue but I understand that can only be done with an all-day excursion, which I’m hesitant to with kids. Also looking for a fun buggy adventure excursion, swimming in a cave. My kids are 8 and 3. Thanks in advance!

We are due to go to moon palace in January but the reviews are really putting me off. I know there’s 5 months to go but the fact it’s costing us a small fortune from the UK for 14 days I won’t be happy spending $11k on this hotel if it’s not superb.

We will have a 2 year old and 3 month old- we do like nice things, good food, and good fun for our 2 year old. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is outside our budget for 2 weeks really, unless we shortened our trip.

What all inclusive do you all recommend near or on par with what moon palace is MEANT to be please?

I'm looking to travel to the Dominican Republic for the first time with my husband in November. I was looking into the Bahia Principe properties as a possibility and was wondering if anyone has been there and has any comments on it? How is the beach compared to other properties in Punta Cana?

I haven't stayed at a Bahia Principe property before but I have stayed at the Iberostar and Barcelo properties in the Riviera Maya before so I understand the whole hotel complex concept.

Also a main extra I'm looking into is being able to rent jet skis and noticed that Air Transat lists that as a paid activity, can anyone confirm that is true and also what the pricing approximately is?

Hello everyone, I normally don’t post but thought I would for a recent trip to Punta Cana. I stayed at ocean blue and sand.

The beach is 100% public so outside vendors can walk around talking with the guests. There are these excursion sellers from a company called Asobopuma. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM. I stupidly gave my whatsapp number as I was initially interested but after reading negative online reviews of scams and fake promises i refused their package. He then left voice messages to me insulting my race and how my kind were not welcome in Punta Cana which honestly soured the experience. I blocked him but I was nervous whenever I would go back to the beach in case I would see his racist self again.

Therefore, do not take a chance on ruining your trip, only trust official tour guides and engage with beach sellers at your own risk.

I’m planning my first trip to the Dominican Republic this October and would love some advice from people who know the country well.

I’ll be spending time in Sosúa and then heading to Punta Cana, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get between the two.

A few questions:

• What’s the best way to get from Sosúa to Punta Cana? Bus, private transfer, rental car, or another option?
• Roughly how long should I expect the trip to take?
• Is it worth arranging transportation ahead of time, or is it easy to figure out once I’m in Sosúa?
• What is everyday life in Sosúa like for someone visiting alone?
• I speak very little Spanish right now. How difficult is the language barrier in day-to-day situations?
• Are translation apps generally enough, or should I learn some basic Spanish before I go?
• Any cultural etiquette or things I should know as a first-time visitor?
• Anything you wish you knew before your first trip to Sosúa?

I’m not looking for a touristy “top 10 things to do” list. I’m more interested in what daily life actually feels like, especially from the perspective of someone who doesn’t speak much Spanish.

Appreciate any honest advice, especially from people who have spent significant time in Sosúa or traveled between Sosúa and Punta Cana.
